Yeah, I'm using Vista because it came with the laptop and I dont have an xp disk sitting around, but I havent had that many issues with it since I started messing around with things. I've gotten it a bit more optimized and turned off most of Vista's "promotional" features save for the Aero interface just because it looks better then the baseline interface. The problem is that EA had its fingers in it's development. They tried to make it like another sims by gimping and dumbing down the way this was present in order to appeal to the masses. Instead of making it deep (which very few people actually enjoy in general) they made it functional eye candy and gimicky. As much as I dont like comcasts way of doing business in general, its still better then TWC. They charge extra fees for downloads over 250GB (and some upload cap) which is more then most people should be able to do in a month unless you are downloading and backing up movies and games illegally. The few times I've had issues, customer service responded quickly (with the exception of supreme commander gold at release, but that was due to thanksgiving weekend, and I am glad no one responded for a few days :) ). Thankfully I didnt have any registration problems with demigod (especially since I purchased it through impulse on monday and I wasnt a beta tester or anything), but if I did, I'm confident that it would have gotten resolved quickly and politely. Alrighty, I figured out the screenshot biz. This HP laptop has a "fn" key that needs to be held when pressing the print screen button. Kinda funky, but it works at least as far as to paste into another program like paint. Yeah, posting the skills tree would help me alot. Hmmm... For me it has the oak background for all of 5 seconds before menu loads. Updated graphics drivers and such? Verified files? (note that if you verify now, they will redownload the renamed binks) Other then that I'm not sure. Maybe a restart of the comp here and there.

Copying the whole beta folder doesnt install all the registries needed for the game. I've no clue how to get it to work without having an actual retail version.

Lets see: dg_amd_logo dg_gpg_logo dg_stardock_logo dg_intro I renamed with a "1" after the name so that the game skips the intro movies and logos. All of those are in the "movies" folder under the demigod directory.

I had that issues a couple of times. My solution was that I went into the DG folder and "renamed" the intro movie files so that the game would skip over them entirely. Havent had a problem since (and havent had to wait for the movies either).

Yes, we can thank Gamestop for breaking release date and selling it 5 days early. When you arent planning on having your servers fully operational until release and a distributer black balls you, its kinda tough to play catchup. Further, I might remind you that it took WoW 3 months to play "catch up". I remember waiting in queues well into march. All thank gamestop for this... releasing the game early so SD has to scramble to get their servers online on their day off. Now granted I think there would still be these issues even if everything executed normally, but not nearly to the same magnitude. Frogboy mentioned earlier that their servers were being bombarded by tens of thousands of pirates, so I suppose you can thank them as well. Has the 0 day patch been released yet? I think its supposed to put the final pieces into place, but I think it releases tomorrow or something. I could be wrong, but am hopeful.
