Yeah, this is why I boycott all gamestop products (cept for the clearance games I bought a couple months back just because they were really cheap). GS has always behaved in a shady fashion. I used to shop at EB until they became part of GS so I've stopped shopping there. I'm just going to purchase DG through impulse as an "up yours" to the retailers. I hope others follow the same because smaller companies like SD are trying to make premium games, without crappy DRM, at reasonable pricing, and

Ok whew. I got nervous for a moment. I guess I wasnt really paying attention to the "Live" portion of things. Thanks for clarifying. I'm really looking forward to DG. It looks fantastic from what little I've seen of it, but knowing stardock and GPG, their products are top notch :)

On the Games for Windows website, it indicates that Demigod is "coming soon" for it. Does this mean we will be required to have a GFWL account in order to play online? I, personally, try to stay away from Microsoft products when I can because they are typically not made for the average user and are rarely intuitive to any degree. Below is the link that I am refering to. http://www.gamesforwindo

Multiple platforms are fine so long as the game is like World of Goo where it works effectively well across all. I trust the judgement of the guys at stardock to make the right decisions when making games. They've proven themselves time and again with quality releases, so I dont doubt that if they do begin cross platforming, our PC game experience will continue to be premium and the other platforms will be just as good for what they are in comparison. I do think downloadable

There is a slew of ports that your router needs open in order to do the simplest of tasks. That could be part of the problem. My guess is the fact that the online lobby is run by the gamespy engine. Gamespy has never been able to do online hosting correctly. Their software is always full of bugs, slow, and halfassed. They simply are not good programmers (or just to cheap to do it right - I'm thinking a mix of both). Anyway, I know thats not much help, but g

I'm still trying to find Alpha Centauri and its expansion. I really miss that game and I cannot for the life of me find my CDs. I would much rather have a digital copy anyway. Come on Impulse, dig up some of the classics and put em up for us to buy!

I'll add to this thread. I'd like to see more diplomacy options. Being able to demand from and have missions for the other factions. I'd like to see more trade abilities in order to bolster ones own economy or cripple another players economy beyond simply killing their trade ships. Things like trade sanctions and embargos might be a nice touch. Other things that might be interesting would be the ability to create or destroy a planet/star system, but as a cooperative

I am wondering what constitutes the definition of piracy. To my understanding, it is forceably taking something from someone else and using it for your own self benefit. Within the realm of software, piracy is obtaining an IP without paying for it... period. Is it considered piracy if you obtain a copy of the final product in order to ensure it works with your machine/drivers/etc? I dont think it should. As many have pointed out, there is alot of crap s

I dunno, I dont find impulse that bad. I've had less issues with impulse then steam at getting things to work properly. Both are great programs relative to the true junk that is out there, but they both have their ups and downs. Luckily for us, stardock seems to be a company that actually wants their products to succeed and wants their customer base to be happy so they are willing to help, improve, and generally lend a hand in making the experience as pleasant as possible fo

Hey all, I've been searching through the forums on upcoming titles and licenses that impulse is obtaining and I've come up empty. I'd like to know which titles impulse is working on aquiring a fair amount of time before the title is actually released on impulse. Example is this week I saw mount and blade on sale on steam so I bought it. I then went to impulse and low and behold it suddenly appeared to be offered there as well (granted not for the same sale price).&

I'm having an issue with the impule dock cutting off shortcut icons in my games tab. I have about 30 game shortcuts but only 26.5 are showing. There is no way to scroll over to see or gain access to the ones to the far right. Please fix this. Thanks!
Starbases not upgrading at all.
Ahh, that would explain why my vasari phase stabilization tech on starbases isnt working and why my starbases are being destroyed as easily as a frigate. Negative money seems to be an issue with the fortification (vasari tree). I've noticed that if I dont touch that tree, the econ works properly, but once you start researching in that tree, the negative values are allowed.

I'm actually having issues with regular phase stabilizers now in a new game. They were working early on in the game and then simply stopped working. All of them. All planets tested have either a phase stabilizer or a starbase with phase stabilizer upgrade. Also tested over time in case the phase stabilizer upgrade of the starbase takes time (the other upgrades say 50s, but phase stabilizer says nothing). So, Planet w/ phase stabilizer to planet with phase stabi

Notes: Vasari, 100% research completed, playing with 2 other friends and 4 random normal AIs. Negative resource values. Able to build things without having the resources. Mostly researches. I've built several researches without actually having the resources. Hosting a game resets back to setup screen everytime a friend clicks to join. Once each friend has clicked join, it stops and allows them to join the game normally. Carrier capital ship on auto up

My brother and I had an interesting sync issue that is worth noting. Basically we started a game yesterday, saved it and picked it back up today. Well, I discovered him during our session today, but he a single planet and doing nothing. According to him he had 10 planets. So we allied and he only saw that I had one planet that was likewise doing nothing when on my end I had a dozen or so planets. We then compared planets and he had some that I had and vice versa. What is really odd though is

I'm having an issue since 1.1 where I will select a group of units and select an enemy unit for them to destroy, then zoom out and come back 5 minutes later and they have losted their targetting and are attacking everything but the target I selected. I lost far more cap ships then I care to admit because of this. This was never an issue prior to 1.1. It makes multitasking battle fleets across different planets quite discouraging.

Hi, I just purchased Supreme Commander Gold through impulse. I completed the transaction, but at the end it said [No serial number required]. I was like, ok, it must just not have been processed yet. So I've waited several minutes and checked again. I've checked my registered programs and there is no SC to be found. I've had my registrations sent to me via email and SC gold shows up in the list, but where the serial number is displayed it says [No serial number required]. I've checked

While I'm excited and anxious to get this release, I'd rather have it work properly and be the best it can be by taking extra time with it getting it right. And thank you SD crew for letting us know and being straight with us. I wish other companies would follow your lead. *cough* EA *cough*. RA3 has been out almost a month now and it plays like an early beta. It is the best CnC that EA has produced to date, but the amount of bugs, crashes, mp instability, and other annoyances suggest it coul

I agree with most of what was written in the document, but one thing caught my eye that I found odd. It said some high percent of people want them to get rid of the impulse dock. I, personally, actually really like how the impulse dock is laid out. I have all of the hundreds of shortcuts, that used to be cluttering my desktop, organized into impulse dock tabs. Perhaps there are better ones in existance, but this one is just fine. To improve it, I would say adding

I've been running vista on the laptop I bought last year because it came with it. It hasnt been bad persay. It's just been kinda "meh". You look at the front end UI of OSX and vista is archaic in comparison. I, personally, want more customizability in the UI. I know I can always go to stardock and buy some, but that still isnt 100% custom to me. And I dont want to have to learn to code windows just to do something that should be built in and readily available. Further, the sideba

After SWG, I will not support Lucas Arts or Sony again. No more SW movies, games, or anything else from Lucas and no PSX of any variety (not that I've ever owned a PS anyway), but no more sony products of any sort. But anyway, my moderate, $1400, year old laptop can run things like Oblivion, CnC3, and various other graphically and CPU intensive games at near max settings. From what i've seen, FU is not even near Oblivion in the graphics department or CPU intense as most other FPS or R

I recommend rolling over every icon and clicking on them to see what they do. Play on easy 1v1 gigantic map no pirates and just get a feel for what everything does. Thats what I did and after 2-3 games I had a pretty firm handle on how the game plays.

Were you sure both had completed building? I know, many times I will queue up the research and be able to "build" the stabilizers, but they wont actually build until the research is completed. Thats the only thing I can think of. Otherwise, there could be a bug, but I've never had problems with these jumps without not having it researched yet thinking I did. Anyway, when they work, they work fantastically. Anything that saves a few jumps is worth it in my mind. Helps in outflanking the enemy. I

As I am writing this, my wife is in the 11th hour of pregnancy. We are 3 days passed our due date and should could go any time now. I am as anxious as I am excited about having a new born son. Given the possibilities ahead, I can only wonder how dramatically my life will change. For now I must wait patiently at 11:46pm for that time when the ball starts rolling and the mad dash to the delivery room is made. Until then, I shall keep myself occupied in the world of paragon city, fighting crime

BW has been working for alot of other Publishers in the past like Atari(NWN) and Lucas Arts(KOTOR).
Actually, EA did buy VG Holding Corp, Bioware and Pandemic a few months back. Bioware is owned by EA now. Here is one of many articles on the subject: http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/826/826662p1.html
