Another tip is to get other races to fight eachother. Anyone not at war with the Terrans should be paid to do so. Also, keep in mind that no matter how over matched you are at the start of a war, you aren't losing unless you lose planets. If you manage tio take some of the AI planets, you are winning even if your ships are being destroyed. I never look at the military rating to determine where i stand. I always have fewer ships and a much lower rating at the beginning. But my ships ha

Not sure if Frogboy is only refering to TA and how many of those things they've changed since October. But I would have disagreed with him on a couple of points and maybe added a few different ones to the list, gotta keep it at a nice number like 10. Dark Avatar: 3. I think the AI is good about getting mining techs. They tend to get some before I do, especially the Terrans. 8. The defence techs are pretty cheap in DA. By the time i get to them I can set my resear

How do you come by one of these? Is it a random event or an anomy that your surveyor finds? I play DA and have never come across one of these. Until this thread I didn't know how powerful they were. The ones decribed for DA don't look too bad, unless they pop up in year one or so. But even then, they aren't strong enough to warrent panicking. Unlike some megaevents with super enemies, this doesn't mean you'll have to fight this ship if you can stay friendlyish with that civ. The TA sh

I wonder if he finished that game. When i was new to the game i would panick when an AI opponent had Planetary Invasion and I didn't. I've since learned that the AI can be very slow in getting transports to my planets. And even when they do, they usually max at 1000 Million troops; not enough to take the planet. In all my games I've lost more planets to flipping than invasion (propabaly like 5).

I'm not sure if I've ever built the GGB. I just build additional survey vessels. In the old days anonolies didn't regenerate so the GGB was useless. The diplomacy and value enhancing achievements don't get built often either. I'm not sure why, just that I don't get around to it and don't want to give up tiles. I guess by the time i can spare the research time to get the techs there noting left that the AI has that i want. What I mean is that the only techs the AI has that I don't are

I changed the pic, it appears on the metaverse correctly but on the forums it is still the little Yar dude. Do I need to change the pic someplace else to get it to be different on the forums?

I think my strategy for the colony rush is different that most people's from what I've read in these forums. Many people have fine tuned it, I haven't, so they may have a better way of doing it. But I'll let those people post themselves. What I do, and its worked for me upto suicidal so it can't be that bad, is: research planetary improvements pretty early to get the +10 in research and production; also space militarization I think has the +10 for military production. Other te

Is it possible that you had the UP vote where each civ has to give some techs to all the others? It would explain the 15... 3 x 5 opponents. However, if you were that early in the game that you hadn't even met the other races yet and I imagine you're not playing on a difficultly level that would give the AI significat bonues, it is unlikely that those AI players would have had those techs either. It seems that you hit some kind of a bug. I would be inclined to agree with Tetley. A meg
On your Tech Capital, there's a good chance you shouldn't build an RCC at all. The break-even point is closer to 9.
Son of a .... !!!! ALL this time I've been robotically adding a RCC to my tech capitals, never thinking that another lab would be more useful to the Tech Captial improvement. Anyone rememebr when Quantum Power Plants gave like a 100% bonus in the initial DA? Anyway I never build anything before the Quantum Power Plants. I

Mumblefratz once made a good point that had me use "noral" as my reseach rate from then on. I used to use fast or very fast, but then he wrote about how the AI doesn't ever change after it picks a tech to research but a human player might. This means that on slower rates, the AI will not change their strategy and may be stuck researching a long tech while you can pick up others if the need arises. Although I don't too often change the techs I'm researching mid-way. I think that was the idea b

There is apparently a bug in the game with the bonus you egt to speed when trading for the Gravity Accelerators. I didn't want this tp get lost in the shuffle due to the original post's title which may not be looked at by any Devs, so I'm crating a new one. Please see the link to the other thread: https://forums.galciv2.com/335137 Can anyone give answers to this? anyone? anyone? Buelhuer?</

Does anyone know if the show Quantum Leap still airs anywhere on TV? When one of my kids way still bottle feeding I remember it being on at like 4 AM somewhere. Just curious if its still shown at all, I'd be able to set a VCR to record it.

I would never NOT get all of the government techs. The lose of those economic bonuses would negate any benefit from not having morale structures. The way my morale stays good for elections is that my oldest planets are all nearly maxed out with population and have a morale in the 50's maybe, my newly colonized PQ1's and planets that I have recently invaded have low populations and stay at 100% morale for a while even at tax rates near or above 70%. So my average approval is som

Does anyone know if: 1) this is a problem in TA? 2) anyone else is aware of this bug? 3) the devs kniow about and / or are going to fix this? 4) The other trade goods work at all when you trade for them? Or TO the AI for that matter.
antracer makes a good point - a little more detail would be helpful.
At the galaxy set up you can choose between tight, loose, scattered or random star clusters. By setting it to tight, your galaxy will have about the same number of stars but in ... tight clusters. So you will tend to have a bunch of open / empty space. The chances of anything coming out of the space is slight since the AI will make a straight line for you. It will depend of course on your placement in
