Well, a friend and I had several days of co-op games planned when we got this game tommorow. I just informed him there is no tactical in MP. He was in as much shock as I. In fact, he actually thought I was kidding, and it took me a minute to convince him I was totally serious. Luckily, I told him before he purchased his game, or he would have been furious. I can promise you, there are going to be a LOT of people out there, purchasin

Let's see: you just have to do what games like Age of Wonders have been doing since the dawn of MP: You can watch the battle or not watch it. Easy. If you don't watch it, you can still fiddle around with all your own units/towns/econimics while the battle takes place. I feel like I'm buying a used car, and the salesman is trying to convince us how we would really not have fun with passenger seats anyway. . .
Again, if true, this is a deal-breaker for us. We went through all that "in a future patch" stuff with Demigod. Tactcial battles ARE the reason for this entire game. Why would we all spend all that time making towns; to make resourses/gold; to make units; to make huge armies only to click in a "roll a die, you lose/win" button like they use to do 2 decades ago in MP games? I'm just going to have to see for myself. I just can't beleive they'd release t
I do not have the game yet. I've had it preordered for a long time. But some things I've skimmed over on these forums seem to indicate that there are no tactical battles in MP. That's not true, is it? That can't possibly be true??? It was just some troll trying to upset everyone, correct? I did not want to write more till I actually get the game and see for myself.
I thought it would change all my posts to show an avitar, but seems it only changes new posts.
Hey! It worked for me too. Nothing else did. Thanks! [e digicons]:D[/e]
I'm waiting till a couple days of play after release before I say more. If my friend and I have a fun co-op experience, that's almost all we wanted. . .
Anybody find a fix for this yet by chance?
Thank you for the offer Dragoaskani, we would be glad to have up to our cabin to make the game play on our Lan [e digicons];)[/e] Seriously, we do not mind having to buy a copy for each person, no problem there. On release day, I and one other friend are getting together to play here at my place (I'm not EVEN going to say "to play via Lan" from now on), but my other 3 friends see no reason to get the game if they can't actually play it at their cabin with friends; solo play
Well, after reading that post Frogboy started (you can't miss it, it's 15 pages long already), looks like Lan play is "not quite" possible right now. Each person has to purchase their own copy, and, you have to be connected to the internet to play. But my friends are going "but that's not Lan play!?!?". Anyway, I'm pretty sure it's about the same as SC2 multiplayer (at the moument), you'll all be playing each other via the internet, but you can still be in the same
Wizard, Impulse is not like Steam ect. It's actually quite "unintrusive". And there will be a lot of constant patches/updates for Elemental at first, so you may not want to intall; uninstall; install; uninstall, over and over (at first).
I have no doubt there will be an "Unlimited" setting.
I preordered via a retail store, so I'm guessing that means the same day as the people who did not preorder, of course. I mean, they did not send the preorders out one day sooner, correct [e digicons]:maybe:[/e] Even if so, with my internet speed, it would take me to Wedensday to download it if I had ordered via Impulse. . .
Thanks Spriditis. Tried there, nope. [e digicons]:([/e]
Well I'm glad for you. For people who primarily want it for SP it's probably going to shape up as a pretty good game. But now that proper MP support is "wait and see" with Civ 5 coming out a month later? That's where the MP folks are going to end up.
That's what happening here for me Tridus. I'm getting the game for sure (preordered). And 4-5 of my gaming buddies were for SURE going to get Element
I never had an Avitar, but when I finally tried to get one, it refuses to let me do so now.
"that may see little or no use at all." I know I speak for myself and all my gaming buds when I say: The ONLY reason we will ever be playing single player is if we happen to not be able to get together with our buds at the moument. We are (for some, "were") getting Elemental for multiplayer. Only. And Lan "was" going to be a huge part of that. We also play at work, or up at the mountain cabin, now, we probably can't. [e digicon
I'm not even sure who wants to sit down for hours and play a game like this multiplayer anyways >.>
People with friends and family "Vork" . . . .
Now I just have to worry about getting my cheap friends to pony up for a copy/seriel key of their own.
This is exactly my problem. Before this thread, my friends and I were going to get together on the 25th to play a Lan game (and so I could also entice them to purchase the game too). Now my conversation with them is going to go like this: Me:"Hey guys, you still wana'a come over on the 25th to play Elemental via Lan and see if you want t
Ok, to clarify so I can tell my friends the details: When I get my game, I can install it on all 4 computers here. I then tell my 3 friends that they all need to buy their own game too? But when they come over, they need to "log in" using the # from the game they each purchased, and then, we can all play on my Lan?
I'm pretty confused too Civ. I will have one copy of the game, which I want to install on 3 different computers here for Lan play. When we play Sins on the Lan, it's super easy, but Elemental does not sound as easy so far. And does that mean I should tell anybody comming over to try Lan play to get their own account on Impulse? Signed, Forest Gump.
Well, the odd problem is, even if my friends all get Elemental too (which they most likely will), we still can't play on the Lan at one house until we figure this out. But I appreciate the help so far. I mean, they are not going to want to install their copies on my computers. When it comes out, I guess we will try the above (crosses fingers).
It's a phrase Landisarus. JESSH. I can't beleive anyone would even bitch so much about a quick, fun little forum tid-bit. Whoops, let me guess, your upset because I used "tib-bit". . .
Ok, when I get Elemental, I'm having 3 friends over to show them, and I was hoping to get a Lan game going (making 3 more sales should be easy after a couple hours of Lan play). I will have 4 computers here. All will have Impulse on them (of course). Two will have my home email, but how can I "or can I even" install the game on the other 2, that use my work email on them? Then can I upgrade/patch them all too? After StarCra
Don't get "too" excited guys, I've heard from 2 store owners that it's as likely to be available on the 25th as the 24rth, so it might be 11 days yet. I have my mind set on the 25th. If it comes out on the 24rth, well, that will be a nice surprise. . .
