Here's how I (and I concider myself an average player) got such bad stats: I don't really care about "winning", so I just usually picked up pug games, and lose. If we did start to win, there was usually a rage quit or host DC exploit. Then there were the times (before I wised up) that I would join "noobs only" type games so I could practice/learn, only to be stomped to death by stacked teams of experienced players. Unranked is so, SO needed for this game.

That's funny, because I "went back to DoWII" also. Many people got DG for Christmas, so hosting your own game under a name like "Noobs only" or "Practice" is a good start. But be aware, there are plenty of people that are very good at the game, that will join just to stomp you for another ranking point (and there are no unranked games) or to get their jollys. So learn to check their stats out first. Hopefully, you'll get a good player, AND, a nice player that will team
I pretty much gave up on online Demigod, but just found out 2 of my friends got it for Christmas. That means we could do a possible 4 player team (although more than a 3v3 if usually near impossible for me). I tried to explain to them the "challenge" of dealing with the DG online community. They just said "No problem, we'll just all play unranked games". I had to tell them there was no unranked, and about rage-quits, the possible lobby kicks and purposeful desinks
Yes, unranked games have been needed since day one.
Oh, that would be so great, if any unregistered game had pirates that invaded more and more as the game went on.
"If you make a game for the console demographic, don’t expect to make huge PC sales, okay? This. Champions Online. My WoW guild was tired of WoW. We heard about CO. We were all drooling; waiting; longing for it to come out. Most every person in my guild was thinking of going over to it when it came out. I've played Champions since the 80s, so I could'nt wait either. I decided to be the "test dumby" by getting the game and playing
[quote who="Rishkith" reply="83" id="2473364"] Quoting Frogboy, reply 78 What would not be fun is if you had to design units with "acid resistant armor" only to realize the other guy has units with maces with frost damage. "Oh great, now I need to send my army back across the world and re-equip them or re-design that particular army to have frost resistant helms or maybe I should create armies with an acid protected shield, a frost protected boot, a lightning resis
The wait time in our lobbies? About 2 mins, but that's because we play on our lan rather than deal with the semi-hell that is a Demigod lobby. I fire Demigod up about twice a week, then allllllllmost go to an online game, stop, remember how painful the last several were, and play solo, again. Sorry, but I blame the Devs (NOT Stardock). ALL they had to do is have a "random teams" and/or even better unranked games, and most of this would not happen. The
As usual, the updates are great. But I must agree, just having "Arcane" damage, well, it sounds bland, generic, and does not inspire all the great enchantments/counters I had invisioned making my armies with. I liked MoM, but it is a very old game, and this simplified system sounds even less strategic than Age of Wonders so far. But, it's a beta, so I guess I'll wait and see.
That idea really sounds like it would help give the game "soul". Great. So if I am: Merchant + Shrewd = Frogboy gives me 50% of off Elemental??? Nope? Guess I'm unlucky too. . . A suggestion: The cost of "Diplomatic", and the points you get back for "Blunt" might be based on the number of opponents in the game. If there's only one other player/AI, everyone will be "Blunt" and nobody would ever purchase "Diplomatic".
You have to keep in mind, I loved MoM, but MoM did not have the extreme customization that EWAM will have. That means the more catagories you make, the more difficult it is to make/enchant counters. If you got 6, 7, even 8 attack types, is anyone really going to play defensive whack-a-mole to make enchantments for all the types? You just could not do it, and players would just be forced to go all out offence in the end. A possibility would be groups of effects a
So, you don't like the dwarf-kid in Dragon Age Rish? En-chant-ment! There are always so many "uncatagorizable" spells, they really do need that one "mystical" catagory, like Sleep, Slow, Far Vision, ect. I have a friend that's a pilot, and I can tell you now, flying "creatures" are really affraid of wind damage "spells". I'm going to make a de-buff enchant, put it on clubs, and call it "nerf bat".
Counters. Good. No, great. Now, if someone spams a unit type, or tech-grinds one type of spell to the max, you have a chance to counter. But the protection armor gives, it just seems so, so, mundane. . . . .
Kohan : Immortal Sovereigns. That game was the first "Continuous" battle system that I ever really liked. Formations, flanking, reinforcements, LOS, height advantage, fortifying, all with very simple commands. If your really going to make battle "RTS-ish", please consider taking a look at Kohan (not II, just I) to get some great possibilites for the battle system in Elemental. And yes, an observer option is so very needed fo
Yep, like I wrote, I Lan connect just fine, but it would have lag simular to what I would have in online play (ocationally).
If you put "Premade" in your title, they won't even bother taking the time to look up all your stats, cause they will know in advance, and join or avoid without all the hassle. Then, people that join will know in advance, and you'll know they know in advance.
Lan worked fine for us last night, although, it was laggy occationaly to our shock. I don't think I've every played any game via Lan that was laggy before.
You are like me Rave, I've been playing like 26 hours, yet it says I'm only like 18% done with the game. Course, I like to explore every inch of the map, and talk to every person. There are a LOT of hidden side quests, and quests from people that have no marker above them either.
Ya, I have 2 friends that play DoWII and Sup Com online, but won't get DG because there is no unranked. I wish there was unranked also. And don't forget: Why people RQ when losing, especially hosts. I could care less playing against a stealthed premade as long as I knew they were not using me as kindling to pad their win ratio.
I play other games, like DoWII and Sup Com because there are unranked games there. Same with 3 of my gaming buds, they lothe ranked games (I play ranked occationally, but at least I get the choice when I want a high intensity ranked with 100% of my focus on the game, or a casual unranked game after I have had one too many beers). I have always noticed a much more relaxed, fun atmosphere in unranked games; little if any stat checking;no arguing who's
I'm sorry Leon, you do not have a high enough post rating, so I'm kicking you out of this thread. . . . . [e digicons][/e]
I show 15 games, 2 wins. Actually, I've played about 100ish total, and won the vast majority (on Lan with friends). I am not a noob, nor am I a great player. I've joined "Noobs Only" games, only to be chewed out for being too good. I've been kicked out of lobbies because of my low game rating because I'm "too bad" of a player. That's one of the main reasons, I, and so many of the Demigod community decided to go play other games ra
I would SO love a "casual" game setting. No rankings or stats, just fun. That's about all I would play if this was implimented. In fact, I'm sure I'd go back to playing regularly if that was implimented. And I'm sure lots of people/noobs would get better if there were unranked games. They would practice a lot more online. I know so many times, I wanted to go online and practice, and just the thought of dealing with getting kicked because of low game # or
Oh, don't get me started on the DLC at launch stuff [e digicons]:annoyed:[/e] It was like buying a great steak dinner; having the waiter bring it out, then, just as you start eating he says "Do you like how that salad, soup, and side dish looks? Yes? Well you can have it if you pay for it". Grrrr. They could have just added it to the game from the start for free if you ask me. And having an NPC tell you all about an important quest, only to have him
Some of the out of the blue banter between your team can really surpise you. I was wandering around, searching the countryside for something or other, when Morrigan and Alister start banter stuff that made me laugh so hard I had to stop playing. Oh, and just wait till Sten (Achie Bunker meets 300) starts telling the women in your party "Their place". And what I'm really starting to both love AND hate about this game is when you make decissions about your party, que
