Well I guess that my Drengin account expired... but still I remember that I had Altarian Prophecy on my account (sadly, I do not have access to my own comp since months).

CariElf, I never subscribed to the metaverse. I'll contact by email and give my serial number, pass and everything (when I'll have time: exams now). Thanks for your help
There is long term investment, infrastructure, making people happy. And there are ways to exploit, shorter term style. This is useful if you wish to basically PLUNDER a planet you just conquered and expect the enemy to take back shortly. Or if you need fast results. Or are just evil *evil grin* Possible short term actions: - Plunder - Everyone WORK WORK WORK - Who cares if it destroys/kills/brings moral down. It produces - Police state rules. And it brings every
Puppet regimes are of tremendous importance, espescially when it comes to conquer, colonize, or having an imperialist policy. I believe in a basic "puppet regime" system. For example, if you instaure a puppet regime in a conquered city, it will: - Have a lower unrest than a blatantly conquered city - A part of its production will you to your metropolis (other cities) - A part of its production will go to its formal owner (in form of money, etc.) The potentiality of
It wasn't. Now, the situation is that I can log in, but it wont let me enter the forums or anything, saying that I didn't buy Altarian Prophesy. erm... I don't have access to my own computer since a long while. And I wont for the whole year. So I don't know if I actually got Altarian Prophesy while I know I got the very late demo version.
If it is less "territory=victory", the game will become more strategic (since you can use more pathways to victory). Just as Japan, little island, succeeded into getting a good strategy to become a powerful state. If Japan, with little natural ressources, did it... I think it has to do with a few factors, with perhaps some could make it in GC2, such as: - A powerful one strategically supporting a little one (Israel vs USA) - While there exist parasitic relations, symbiotic relat
This add is better than 19 out of 20... equalling the 20th. Personal opinion? Sure. But I wonder if this website shouldn't put a place where you can put this add as a screensaver. woa... inspiring :) I saw it on the right of a game's review, but it doesn't appear that often. Anyway... mmmmmm :)
erm... All places where I click are now "The page cannot be displayed". Did T-man deleted the whole website except the homepage by the same occasion? ;p [Message Edited]
I bought the whole Stardock package when I decided to buy GalCiv, maybe a month before GC was out. Does this give me access to GalCiv 2 forums and website? I tried with the email address I use for Galciv.com, but it didn't worked (maybe I used another to subscribe...).
From GalCiv's random events, I lurned one thing (which you should push further): It's actually great to get examples of what we do. Use this for spying to start with: When we spy or do some intelligence moves, sometimes give a report of something we do. Here are some examples: *Top Secret crypted message* You succeeded so well that even a Drengin minister was in fact funded, by local business-oriented proxies that you support. *Top Secret cry
Perhaps you may be interested into this game to become on your radar too then: www.superruler2010.com It promises lots of inovations... (and it's a Canadian game besides) [Message Edited]
Maybe you could let the fans build some kind of incorporated GalCiv Encyclopedia. I think that during the beta it could be done, perhaps by using some kind of "wiki" as www.wikipedia.org It has 2 advantages: - Some help for players and BY players (I remember Civ3: it never had the info I wanted, but lots of things I could figure out by myself) - Less on your shoulders
I saw the GC2 box in the last news. The middle part is FABULOUS. The only thing I see as a problem is that there is no separation between this middle part and the top/low parts which have screenshots. They are so different in styles and it clashes...
Simple battle orders: "attack this type of ship first, as a primary objective" (such as killing support ships, bombers, offensive ships, TRANSPORTS, those with plasma...) "defend those at all cost" "only try to escape and evade damage" "make loopings to impress the adversary"... It's just an idea, but it seems likely to permit some strategies. I tried to figure out a very simplified version of social-economical-political model. But I'm awared that it is not as easily done than said. So here's an idea, to be discussed with anyone interested: Like Government in GalCiv1 with a few more elements; or like in Alpha Centauri. One could chose between 4 or 5 possibilities for each of a few caracteristics. An EXAMPLE could be: - Government structure (basically, something like GalCiv1: empire, republic, democracy...)
Hi again. I tried to figure out a very simplified version of my social-economical-political model. Like Government in GalCiv1 with a few more elements; or like in Alpha Centauri. One could chose between 4 or 5 possibilities for each of a few caracteristics. An EXAMPLE could be: - Government structure (basically, something like GalCiv1: empire, republic, democracy...) - Presence of robots vs humans (From "a nice life for everyone with trees and flowers", to robot
trypwriter, this question is mostly a matter of which game type you like most, and none of us have information about this. Thus it is mostly up to you. There's a GalCiv demo if you wanna test
Other possibilities for supply of the fleets that are out side our territory (or even our allies' territory). This time, these are things that could be put on a vessel (which I guess could also have a radius effects like SBs): - Supply cargo: Bring with you pizza and oil for a 30 parsecs backpack trip! - Autonomous supply: "Bi-o-power: carry your own ecosystem!" I guess it would ask a ship to be bigger, since it is not simply stocked supplies in boxes, but a whole system furnis
I thought I was unclear and there was no "edit". So I'll clarify: Just as the trade routes, there could be support routes that work the same way, automatically. In Iraq, Vietnam and so on, there are two types of units: support and purely military. So it changes alot of the strategy and tactic, it asks you to chose to defend more (or less) your support troops, permits to make a surprise attack on undefended support troops, etc. These routes for going further into space could hav
USER FRIENDLY and automatic troop support. Just as the trade routes, there could be support routes that work the same way. Perhaps some technologies would help this, or even build some bigger vessels there only to support a fleet (within limits that have to do with what kind of vessels are supported).
Yes well... these are only fans opinions. The one that know wether they already have a clear line for their game or not are the developers. From one team to another, it may change. And I do not believe that a X pages wish-list would be what I have in mind. Wish-lists do not necessarily bring new ideas that fit with the developers' objectives. Or they are a bit like asking someone if he would like having money, fame, love... Of course he would put EVERYTHING on his list ;) Beta testers d
Probably it would serve better if the list was here, but I was thinking more about something simple and pretty general. Also, it would ask someone that wishes to put his time into this and, personally, I put mine elsewhere: in my opinion, such a project is to be done only if it has enough people willing to participate AND a team that will use this. Now I don't know if either of these conditions are filled, but I don't expect so many people that a very precise 200 pages document would co
Perhaps you don't know about the Civ3 List? For a game like Civilization, there is a fanbase strong enough to produce a document centralizing all ideas in one single place in an organized way instead of having them spread out in forums. So I wondered if some kind of "List" could be useful to GalCiv2 also, perhaps in some kind of more compact and simple version. It may useful to refine ideas or find new ideas, or to know what fans have in mind for example; but if anyway you have your own project
For Civ3, Apolyton people tried to help by making a huge List. The same is presently done for CiV (Civ4). Some simpler version could maybe be done for GC2. Would there be a point for a more general and shorter wish-list, or something like that? I am not too sure to which extent it would really be useful, but I'm not making the game. For details, there may be already alot in the Civ List 2 ;) One possibility I see: we could hilight good sections of the CiV List pertinent to GC2
Goodie-goodie!!!! It really seems great, but frankly, I believe more in Frog`s sense of WORKING innovation than anyone`s. So even if it seemed wacko, I would still wait and see. But I just have two comments, one minor and one major: MINOR: For this cultural map, even better could be done by puting it like in SimCity style, with a scale of color intensity (ex: from little red to completely red). It would thus be a competition of the different alien`s colors :)
