Supposedly to capture particles from the reactor, one of the less convincing technical aspects of the movie. Well, that show was pretty heavy on comedy. &nbs
/snip/ Remember, every great empire had to deal with internal dissent as much as with its external enemies. @Azaell83 That's what I meant by infuriating. The idea that a laptop automatically can't be a decent game machine is an old wive's tale. Update: I started this thread worried about core temps that were in the low to mid 70s even though the Tjmax is supposedly 105 C, because online someone stated that 72.5 C is the goal for the high temp for this motherboard. I have spent some time trying to rearrange the extra cables in the case, inverting the ca

Does this patch mean that old save games should not be used? Further, is it recommended to recreate the my games/galciv3 folder altogether? Seems like the prudent thing to do, but it's not clear. Also, what about Program Files/Stardock/galciv3? And, custom races? Should they be deleted and remade or not?

I think there is something to be said in favor of making trade offs with imperfect information. Delay or not. Will the right tile be available or not. Sort of like should I rush a colony ship to get planet X lvl 13 when it looks dicey or should I just settle for the level 7 closer by without having to shell out the extra money. You pays your money, you takes your chances. Sometimes you will have enough information to know the right thing to do...many times n

I realize that it was mentioned that there are people who use triple monitors. But it was a real eye opener to me. I was feeling pretty good about getting a second monitor working that displayed monitor programs that tracked temps, fan speeds, cpu and gpu usage, memory commit, etc. while I played the game so I could see what was happening. The idea of even using two monitors that display one big screen (1920x1080x2) sounds terrific, unfortunately I would have to invest in

I have tried the fix suggested by the OP and it works very well. Thanks! I also noticed that if I wanted to save the old def file, I needed to move it out of its current directory, or the game would think that various things are defined twice.

I find that different resources allow different support ships. So missile support takes one, Tactical support takes another, and so on. Works pretty good as is; wouldn't mind more uses but I am finding I run out of some of the resources very fast.

I have also noticed that the UP didn't start meeting until after turn 200. Then when it started it was frequent! (I have it set on the default.) I am now on turn 260 or so and have had quite a number of UP meetings. I am playing on Immense with all the standard races, three custom races and minors (I have seen three minors so far). I don't see a drastic slowdown - I do have to wait a few seconds on turns, tho. I have 16 gb but no SSD --- it&#3
I have edited some xml files to create my custom race (I don't like the limited in-game option) Steam never asked me to verify game cache. In fact it never does unless you ask for it or probably it's a critical game file being corrupted? Maybe the game's .exe file?
Perhaps I have not explained clearly enough. Steam does not ask me to verify: I have done this on my own (to make sure when ticketing othe

For what its worth, I have made several custom races and they all seem to work fine. However, I have never actually played AS one of those races, I always backed out and started the game with a standard race. Although, as discussed in another thread https://forums.galciv3.com/462974/page/1/#3534035 I have found that Steam verification always wants to correct a file now. And I have had steam cloud

I do have three custom races in the game: the Wisps, the Borg, and the Little Green Men, as well as all the standard races. Could that be causing an issue? EDIT: and when I closed my session this morning, again one file had to be downloaded again. So it appears to be a regular feature.

Since the B5 release I have noticed that "Verify Game Cache" is frequently reporting that one file needs to be downloaded. I became suspicious about this, so this morning I repeated it although I had not had any noticeable problems with the game when I finished last night. Yep, 1 file needed to be downloaded. So I tested this by verifying again immediately after the first verification. This time it stated there were no problems. Well, good, but I am st

1. Last night in an immense game out of the blue three AIs banded together and DoW on me simultaneously. Good thing. It was suicidal...for them. Bad thing. But nice to see them working together even if it's only for a DoW. 2. Evaluations are a big issue. One exploit that I have used is to get extreme colonization fast, then colonize somewhere deep in another faction's ZOI. I can then trade the colony to the AI for a bundle

I try to send a ticket even on seemingly trivial display stuff. It only takes a screenshot or 3, and it makes sure it is on their to-do list.

I like the general idea of having the freedom to set up a starbase not unlike a planet. There would be limits...maybe a slot limit for certain types. Then I could specialize or not; specialization producing the greatest return but being less flexible. You could have slot limits for development (res + cul + manf) as a whole, and another limit for defenses. The limits would be low enough that tough choices have to be made. And perhaps t

I am hopeful that the large amount of information available will be strongly tuned at some point. I should expect you need good relations to know much about another faction and to get even partial info on an unhappy faction would take either capturing a ship/colony or espionage. I shouldn't be able to know exactly what is in the Drengin fleet when they hate my guts, and all I know is that I saw one of their scouts. On the other hand during the beta p

I think the first thing I checked out for b5 was whether overflow (prod or res) was working and the tests I did suggested it was spot on the number for both, which was a huge sigh of relief for me. But it didn't look like it at first for the reason you mentioned. I am wondering if this is one of those "features" that don't get updated until the following turn, so the status number is always a turn short, but I could be wrong, of course (normally about a 50% c
