The Dread Lords aren't supposed to build an actual empire during the campaigns, they just sort of hang out and kill ya when you come around.

From a post on ToA a while back Reply #2 Frogboy Member No.1 Karma+63 May 1, 2008 10:13:53 If you want to know what's new, read https://www.galciv2.com/twilight From a manual stand point, there's not many new UI features. It's mostly about content which we don't tend to cover in a manual. We will be releasing an updated manual though in the near future.
Thanks for all the answers guys :) Anyway, for any others interested in this, I have finally found the answer. It seems that either most do not have this problem or are highly skilled at these things. The problem is where the map defaults to save - at least for some people. The defaulted spot C:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv\Mods\Default is incorrect and should be through Twilight\Data\CustomMaps\Yourmaphere So, act23456, load
Thanks for the info act, but I actually have completed my map. (The keyboard shortcut helps with placing all those stars and planets btw) I made an immense map with the civs each having their own constellation with a great deal of space between each one and am excited to play but, I have not figured out how to actually load the map into the game.
I've made a map, now how do I play on it? I can't find my map when I start the game nor have I found any information as to how to do it. Is this a lot more difficult than map editors for the Civ series for instance? In past games, I go to map editor, make a map, and when I start the game it is an option to choose that map, though sometimes I have to select "use custom maps" or some such button. Sadly, I have found no information to show me how to use my
The easiest and most clear way to describe the multitude or ways to do this is for me to point you to a wonderful video I found on the same subject. When you open TA go to the Tutorials Scroll down to the 2nd from last, and there is one on Rally Points. You don't need the manual for this. Note, I am not being sarcastic in any way, I am assuming you had not noticed this, if this is not what you want, I can type out a response as well. DA has the same
I agree that when you concentrate on the diplomatic aspect of the game, the exploits are very powerful. As such, I began playing games with tech-trading and tech-stealing turned off. This makes the game immensely more difficult for those of us who got good at trading. Not only does it require you to spend a great deal of your resources on technology research, it further prevents several easy ways of getting others to fight, appeasing early threats, and making money. The necessity t
Dang. That'll teach him to ask a question :NOTSURE: From what I've gathered on other threads about this topic, especially "The Case for no Multiplayer" posted by Frogboy, it will never happen. It would basically take an entire new game for MP, one that is totally seperate from the current one which has good AIs. In order to make a MP game, the AI becomes inadequate.
Your approval rate is dropping simply because your population is growing. However, you did not tell us what that approval rate is. There is no need to worry if you have a very large population but an approval of 60% for instance. Approval rate per planet makes that planet grow people faster. Approval rate per civilization lets you raise more taxes. But once you raise those taxes (which is critically important to your economy) that approval rate will go down, but it's supposed to. T
"Is there now a way to rotate the ships in the designer without clicking on the rotation buttons (for instance using right click + drag)?" Maybe I am misunderstanding, but can't you use the mouse wheel button to rotate them? I just hold down my mouse wheel and rotate that way. Perhaps you have an old-school mouse?
I've experienced the lack of military well before the tech balloon. And to have shields but no weapon tech is pretty unlikely since the early weapons are so cheap. I believe at times they even had weapon techs just didn't build any ships. And it's not like I invaded with DoomRay ships and they had Laser I ships, they had NO ships at all. Or, the one time the Terrans I think had small hull ships with only defenses. So I doubt very much a revamping to the tech rate will make them bu
Strange, my survey module still cost me space the one time I built that wonder. It didn't cost me BC but it was so cheap anyway that wasn't much of a boost. Personally, the Eyes of the Universe wonder is so much better. No need for any sensors on any ship then and they all see so far. Well, one still needs a survey module for a few scout ships set to auto explore anamolies
Until someone finds a for sure solution, turn of Diplomacy victory condition.
You are not alone in noticing this at all. It was awesome the first time I fought an opponent with shields but no weapon. I could not believe it  Not sure if they'll fix it, but chances are low since 1.95 has just come out. Just play games against races besides Altarians Drath, etc. I noticed the terrans do it too though. Another option if you have tech trading turned on is to gift or trade techs to the races with no military in the interest of good game play. Sadly, I play
No trade routes are between races only. They also help to improve relations with that race so you could use that to your advantage. The most lucrative ones are the ones that travel the greatest distance. The first building and usually the second building also that I build on a planet is a factory. This helps all other buildings be built considerably faster.
Twilight of the Arnor works quite a bit differently (but Better IMO) than the earlier versions and there is no manual available to help beginners with it. It is pretty intuitive, but lots of trial and error are involved early on. The following Galactopedia helps a TON and is super easy to use and addresses ToA! In short, it is extra super! Check "Terran" on the tech tree section and explore away :) Or whatever other race you play later. You can also explore planetary improvements, resources
There are three levels of farming technologies. THe first is Xeno farming and is required for an initial farm. The second which can be researched immediately after increases the pop bonus even further and the third farm even further. Now, once you build a low level farm on a planet, it will automatically begin upgrading to lvl 2 when that tech is researched and to lvl 3 when that tech is. As long as you left the option to "Make better buildings on the same tile an earlier version of
(1) On ToA you should be able to build a farms just by researching it. Ofcourse it takes a few techs before farming but just follow the branches to Xeno Farming if you want them that early. In the earlier versions you could build one right away, but its not necessary anyway. Farms only increase a pop CAPACITY, not the growth rate, so they arent needed right away anyway since your colonies have many billions of people to grow before not having a farm is even noticed. Careful putting too many f
Well they may have surrendered based on... (1) Your military advantage. Military power is ALL of your ships' attack + ships' defenses + hitpoints or (2) The Terrans were fighting someone else also and were losing badly -- again based on the Military Power of the Civ the Terrans were fighting-- and decided at that point to surrender. The opponent to whom another opponent surrenders is a little random and so you could have just got lucky. Did you go to the Di
The 1.95 update is available under Stardock Central, although I had already done it (about 20 mins ago) via Impulse which beavered away without any dramas. It was quick, about 5 mins for an Impulse Update, a Political Machine Update and the TA 1.95 update.RegardsZy
I thought we had to install Impulse to get 1.95. I officially apologize for my posts complaining about having to install Impulse just to get a patch. Thankfully, I did said complaining in a civil ma
They apologized on the first page for the confusion on the order screen. I doubt they will apologize for drawing a mock box to help sell the product as it is a common practice and there is no need to apologize for how a company does business. It's their company. :HOT: A simple "Please know that you will not get a box with your order but rather a paper envelope." would keep others from expecting the same thing though. The more I've thought about this the funnier it has bec
Go to http://galciv2.com/ You will see in the middle under News... With the Impulse launch this week along with The Political Machine 2008 release, it's been a busy week. But for our next magical trick, we're also releasing the first significant update to Galactic Civilizations II: Twilight of the Arnor. You can get a preview of some of the changes here. You will need to use Impulse to get it. Go here to get Impulse.
I don't think you can scroll to it. But the message will tell you who is going to take it from you and where it was beaming them. Like, "They are tired of beamin to --Earth--and would rather beam them to the --Drengin.--" etc. So, go to the planet that is getting that asteroid -as it was listed in your message,- and then follow the line that leads to an asteroid with a Red Skull over it. Or if you have Ownership checked on the minimap on the bottom right of your scre
1) Try playing on Painful level 2) Map size is a fun thing. If you want to really make it to the endgame techs and ships play a very large map. If you don't want micromanaging of hundreds of planets, turn down the Number of Planets, Number of colonizable Planets, and/or the Number of stars. Simply by turning down number of stars, you obviously turn down possible planets since a planet needs a star. 3) Battle of The Gods makes you play as Terran and can be fun but I use cust
It boils down to this single sentence: In order to fix a product we just bought from a company, we had to install that company's newest product. I'm new to these platform things but if deleting Stardock indeed did do to Mumblefratz what he said it did, then I am hesitant to uninstall either Stardock or Impulse. Now I have two programs where I would have none if TotA did not have one mildly upsetting bug to begin with or if I could have fixed TotA without installing Impulse
