Techs will probably always a modding thing. We have an excel editor that writes out all the XML for us that we are happy to share. One of the nice parts of this is that if someone makes a few cool tech trees they can share them and every can place them as mods and then allow their custom factions to use them. But make no mistake, there is a huge amount of things that can be modified in XML, and if you really

Well, I guess what I was getting at was that if there are multiple extreme planet types, and the research required to colonize any of them is the same, then logically one would think that they should appear in equal amounts (so there's no reason to research, say radioactive worlds rather than barren worlds, unless you randomly happened to start at a location where there happened to be more radioactive worlds than barren worlds). Otherwise, the
If you want to include the hundreds of moons, Titan is toxic and all the rest seem to be barren or ice. In GCIII there are at least 4x as many toxic and radioactive (there is bound to be a radioactive planet somewhere in the galaxy) as there are water, ice and barren combined. If they mean cosmic rays when they say radioactive, all barren planets are also radioactive, I suppose, but somehow I think they mean radioactive in a different sense t

yea, you need to allow the stardock.com and stardock.net scripts/cookies, they intermingle both since all of the forums for all of their games are all on the same server and use the same back-end resources, as near as I can tell anyway.... cheers

I believe the embargo is lifted now? (if not let me know, and I'll fix this post). Anyway, I haven't played this for a while now. I hopped on very early in the alpha/beta though the "more expensive" tier pre-order option. Played it quite a bit for the better part of a week or two immediately when it was released to the people who had opted to do the alpha/beta test - which was maybe last summer or thereabouts... It's pretty cool and definit

Out of curiosity, how much physical RAM do you have? Also, it can sometimes be useful to install high-use game files on an SD card if there seems to be a bottleneck with HDD throughput (since the SD card slot on laptops and the like don't use the SATA chain). This was something people were doing to get Diablo 3 to be less laggy (which worked with varying degrees of success). Unsure if GC3 is ammenible to performance improvements with this type of strateg

"GA3" = "GC3" ? Otherwise, having read your post - I really like it. Not because I necessarily agree with most of what you said (which isn't to say I specifically disagree, I'm just not that opinionated about most things), but because it's an excellent summation of what needs still needs work for it to be presentable to non-GC2-veterans (which most of the people on this forum are). A lot of what you mentioned are known issues (an

The one thing that I really noticed that could be improved, functionally on ships - and this is really brought out by Paul's Titan battleviewer demo is the inefficiency of they way that weapons fire and are prioritized. I used to notice this quite a bit on GC2 where your ship would "waste" a lot of firepower to blow up a ship with only 1 hp. Note that the Titans took a complete volley of 3 separate weapon types to wipe out a fleet of minor ships. I'l

I hopped over there after posting the above and they were all filled

So... Haven't heard much about this since the original demo splash when this post was made. I didn't realize until today that it was available via steam, so I loaded it up and gave it a try. On the one hand, it's quite nice. On the other hand, I'm a bit underwelmed. So.... I have a latest gen i7 4790k, and a GTX 970, my framerate prob averaged 60, but would bog down to the mid/high teens during th

That's interesting, I wonder if this is a problem for others as well. Many laptops are set up like this, where they use the Intel HD graphics chip for regular stuff, but then will switch-over and use the Nvidia/Radeon/whenever when the user needs more horsepower (like firing up a game).
In reference to Paul's question from the stream: Yes, "Gummisternchen" is a real word. It's German for "little gummy star". My best guess is that it's meant as a pun on "Gummibärchen" (little gummy bears).
I was honestly a little miffed that Paul hated that star name so much - I quite like it (and I don't even speak German). And, needless to say, it's a far cry from a star n

Good sales, if anyone left in the world doesn't own them all already... I am legitimately curious though - why do you guys even still sell the Sins franchise stuff in addition to the "rebellion" expansion???
