Actually I have just work out an easy way to fix it. When you say the guns and stuff are on the opposite side, well that's because they are. I just made a symmetrical copy of the whole thing and deleted the original and you little beauty its all how it should be. Its funny how so often the obvious things, staring us all straight in the face, are just not noticed. Well by me anyway. Can't find the forest cause all the trees.
Aractain
A good list, but how much does sound, a few particle effects and things cost versus the cost of the graphics? Other than voice sound has barely changed over the years right? Diablo 2 sounds could be ported into a brand new game and if you havn't PLAYED Diablo 2 you woulnd't notice, now try doing that with the graphics... lol.
Well everything hates graphics in this thread, were are those people from gamespot comments? No fun. Anyway, I think good graphics are important it does help sell the game yes but for me it draws me into the masquerade all the more smoothly. I saw people complain about the graphics of dragon age but I saw nothing wrong, sure some blurryness here and there but with a body replacer on the aa cups should draw your attention more than... Anyway my point is there is a range bewteen
"I think Aractain is working on a script to fix this issue. I'm not sure, hope so." I am working on a script that imports/exports and makes things much easier to work in max (not version 7 unfortunatly it dosn't have a load of code stuff I use). And that looks like you are indeed using the wrong face winding (i.e. inverted normals). The old x and z swaperoo of each face fun for loop. Infact didn't those three guns and and the s
The direction of a vector IS the vector (from the origin, 0, 0, 0). If you mean the direction origin, its the direction (1, 0, 0) multiplied by the mesh radius (which you need to calculate for the header anyway). That gives a position you can compare with each vert's postion to to get the cache order. (And the dot product gives you the angle difference of coruse).
If your looking to make a script for 3D max 1 has already been made.
And another is nearly made... :P You are mostly correct though super. Face normals come from the winding fo the face vertex indices. Vertex normals are midpointed face normals (of all those they touch). Inverted vertex normals will result in reversed lighting. Inverted tangents result in reversed normal maps. And yes max and sins use different handedness in their
The only issue I have is the same issue I had in Galciv II, I wanted a ship about the size of 8 tiles. However, your engine just scales down the size of the ship to the title based on its extents (as well as a maximum size in the editor). Damn you! Elemental looks like its going to be difficult - if not impossible - to create massive multi-tile 'stuff' on the terrain. This potentialy saddens me.
But there are sales of games like up to 90% be surprised what you can get for like $5. I am wondering what the devs of these games got from that prices ... What is good for Steam is not necessary good for the devs.
More money than they had before; most of these purchases are "I would have never bought this without a sale". That means MOAR MONAY that didn't exist before, profits!
Know the thing I hate about mount and Blade? The interface. Ugh.. its horrible, is that how they do things in turkey, big and jaggy? I want to just go in there and fix up thier interfaces, a nice scrolling save list with character preview and stats on the side. Access to all your heros inventroy/stats from tthe main interface screen (left right buttons). The text needs to be smoothed out and drawn properly, stat compare on items, SMALLER FONTS with colour coded
There are some super deals on steam if you don't have all that many newer games. Really good stuff. Also, perils of summer = lmao.
I never post any of my real ideas, mainly because Im a total idiot but I do want to say you seem to be getting rid of the aspects I had negative feelings for. Now, which beta is the Dragon breeding going to be in...?
I see people talking about their 500-800 dollar machines and I look at my keyboard, mouse and keypad combined that costs £270 and three question marks appear above my head, as I say "Huh?". Do you steal half the components? Aside from the £600 I paid for an old 40" TV to upgrade my monitor this computer cost me £2000... Graphics are important to me but I still don't buy the absolute best, I care more about load times and throughput, stability and minim
As one of the people who has a intel SSD that cost more than my graphics card (its just a 285 for now) and is a core part of the computers spec for me and one of the biggest things I hate about console ports is the way the mouse imput is usually smoothed as if it was thumbstick input... OnLive would not be acceptable for me to play anything on it. Id rather get a console. Yeah I don't understand their focus, there dosn't seem to be such a gap in the market.
ZehDon: So you would have no issue if all the starcrafts were standalone releases not requiring each other to play (including multipleyr)?
Aractain put false words into my mouth.
Seriously... To me, you sounded like you were saying X. I posted that. Then you start attacking my post for trying to "put words in your mouth". You know, rather than saying "Thats not what I mean". In fact it sounds like that IS what you mean (you want Gabe to focus on making better games rather than profit), and you are just trying to deflect my observation. I make a half serious observation and
I don't see how what I said isn't true. You want X, steams action are is proivding Y (in your eyes, yours and his priorities do not match). Thus your objection to steam seems to be that they arn't putting 'better games' ahead of profits. Remember, you commented on the actions of Newell, you gave no real conclusion other than Newell is just like Kotick (a widely hated figure). I commented on your comment that it seemed like you were saying that newell should NOT
Quoting Aractain, reply 564You sound as if you think any business man like Gabe should be working for the betterment of mankind rather than their shareholders, the companys bottom line or thier own pocket. This is the fallacious argument Hyperbole. How does my pointing out Newell's philosophy -- some of which I don't care for, some I do, and some I have no feelings on either way -- suggest to you that I think "..any business man like
You sound as if you think any business man like Gabe should be working for the betterment of mankind rather than their shareholders, the companys bottom line or thier own pocket. Why would he be doing anything other than kotick? (trying to take over the world improve thier profit margin).
Dude... To get the story of Warcraft you need to buy warcraft 1, 2, the expansion in outland, 3, frozon throne, world of warcraft, burning crusade and wrath of the lich king, now cataclysm and 6 or 7 books and some manga (although recons and stuff are weird). The point is, I don't mind storys split into parts as long as (and here is the key) the story is worth the price! Dragon age and Mass effect were split into three FROM THE START also! They made this
I dont think it will be as good as gragon age but The Sexer Witcher 2 is a garunteed buy for me anyway. Edit: Yes I spelt it Gragon... somehow err... Wuvly wittle dwagons?
Im still looking for the secrets.... Wait you mean its just "I madz gad taals. I can haz game now?" Well congratulations for figuring that one out... :P
When someone says "buy on steam" they don't mean add it to their steam games list. They mean buy it from steam store which is definately NOT the only place to buy civ5. Secondly the only real difference in major functuality between steam and impulse (steam is better than Impulse in most ways btw) is that steam has its store tied to its service. That means the store needs to be running as well as steamworks to play the games. Thats a really good business decision and Brad would
Are you talking about unit sales on steam or some sort of "kickback" from using steamworks? These two things are not linked are they. (?)
There were fun, bug free games before steam, so it's not a prerequisite. Do you think a steam-Civ5 game will be funner/bug freer than a non-steam civ5 game (factoring in the $ that goes to Valve being instead spent on development/etc.)?
The stuff that steam handels will be more bug free than if they made it themselves...
