The tournaments themselves really aren't that insigthful compared to the large amount of data generated every single day.
Which is exactly what I meant with my OP. I just wanted to show that the good teams (premades) which account for a lot of wins are usually the same Demigods as you would see in a tournament: Erebus, Oak, UB and Sedna. The 4 Demigods with more wins than losses. Most players adapt their playstyle after they see a more efficient one in t
There's a very tiny portion of players on that ESL roster, I don't think it's very indicative of much.
Right. Now please tell us what you think would be any better than teams and matches from the Electronic Sports League . If you don't actually know anything better I suggest that you make thhat "cash reward to
Want to find imbalance? Have a cash reward tourney.
I have searched through almost all ESL tourneys (2vs2 and 3vs3; one 2vs2 even with a Logitech Sound Sytem prize). The teams consist only of UB, Erebus, Oak and Sedna. There are no TBs, no Regulus, no Rooks and no QoTs. This outcome correlates nicely with the win/loss ratio statistic.
Whenever I play this build I also go afk for the first 12 minutes, so that the opponents last a bit longer. After hundreds of matches with this build (easy, since matches only last approximately 12 minutes and 45 seconds) I think I have found the final improvement , which makes this build so effin imba that it's not even funny anymore: I call it the Queen of Imbaness Stun : Whenever you encounter an enemy Demigod (who will try run away as
I think this applies mostly to Erebus and Oak minions and perhaps idols. If you kill a Yeti from Sedna or a Shambler from QoT it costs them quite a lot of mana to get them again, so there you "damage" your opponent by killing the minions. If Oak or Erebus minions gave gold/XP it could be quite hard to balance how much that should be. For example, if the Erebus Nightwalkers gave the same amount as a standard soldier it would mean an 80% (max. Conversion Aura) gold/XP increase at the la
The rampant "NERF X" posts of lately are more or less garbage
If you read the OP you must know that this thread is about buffing or changing unused items or skills to make the game more fair and more complex. It's in no way about nerfing.
Now because Demigod is team oriented, like it or not, was it the Devs design decision to make some Demigods stronger vs others?
To make my point more clear: It's good that one DG is better versus some other DG, actually I think this is essential for the game ( rock-paper-scissors ). But the win/loss ratio is calculated form thousands of matches and its average clearly shows that certain DGs are simply worse
But you cannot balance something for PUGs where they are playing the game at a completely different level.
True that. I guess that all these cries (also my own) for Minion Erebus nerfing came from 1vs1 or PuG experiences where there clearly is a problem.
Subjectively I can only say that the Rook should not be nerfed at all. I very rarely encountered really dangerous Rooks and altough his tower farms are annoying, they are not too strong imho. Remember: It takes a lot of (dangerous) time and mana to set up a secure tower farm. One thing I would like to see is that the towers should die if the Rook dies. Same as minions.
That's because you are thinking the wrong way. This is not a 1v1 game. This is a team game.
polynomial: Sampling through your game history tells me that you play in a 4 or 5 man premade team almost exclusively. Also your games seem to be against PuGs almost exclusively. I have nothing against that! BUT Of course you do not have the same prob
Thanks for the input. You all are right, it's actually quite complicated. For me, the ideal picture would be that you see every skill the game offers in an efficient build/team. I would really like to see a little bit more variety in my matches: more Mass Charm, more Yetis, more Boulder Rolls, more Frost Novas, more Shamblers and more Uproot. There is so much more complexity and fun in the game if all skills (and items) were utilized euqally. Which they are currently not.
Did they explicitely tell you that they are not a premade?
If I were GPG I would log (at the end of each game) all ingame decisions like which item gets bought how often, which Demigods and which skills are chosen. All items in the same price class that are bought very rarely by the gamers are apparently not worth buying and should be buffed/changed. Same goes for skills. If that is too complex, I'd just look at the already available win/loss rati
Don't even respond to Paperkat , he's most likely a Troll . Look at his games ("noobs only"; 30% win percentage).
This proposal is more zynical than serious: Make them cost just 50 % of the mana cost of Shamblers (450mana) or Yetis (550mana). But I guess you won't see any more Nightwalkers then. I still don't get it why the two generals who already can get much more minions than the other two get their minions p
Also, I've noticed that most people who defend QoT don't play her extensively and, more importantly, do not play her in premades against premades. Fancy that.
QFT. Strongstar is actually the only one who plays her a lot and kind of defends her strength. All others who say that QoT is okay now (or even too strong) don't play her! On the other side, I play QoT exclusively</s
The gold/XP for killing is more than enough reward imho. Moreover the enemy loses gold and XP during his down time and the enemy team is at a disadvantage and has to retreat usually. This potion drop mechanic is just another positive feedback loop (better team gets better faster) that usually makes the game one-sided soon. A good game should always have several negative feedback loops to keep the game interesting: Warcraft 3 has "upkeep" - the bigger your army,
noother, a maxed Shield absorbs 1450 damage every 7 seconds, which means a 200 damage per second absorption for 120 mana per second. If you did not deal out more than 200dps with your 2 Demigods' autoattack alone , you did something very wrong in this game . And I'm not even talking about the instant damage you could have done with Pounce+Pentinence (1000+800) and
Paperkat , if you think you're a good QoT player and use Uproot, then I am sorry if I can't take you seriously. The same goes for Sedna players who think Yetis are awesome. Also, your stats and game names (3vs3 only NOOBS) speak for themselves . Fact : Regulus and Unclean Beast are played about 3 times more
I dunno. Can u tell me why Regulus is one of the 4 DGs that lose more than win and still has high favor points in the end?
My guess: Snipe, Mines and range upgrade. In games without a Torchbearer he can easily get most damage favor points with mines. Because of Snipe he can also easily get most kills favor points, which means he also usually gets kill streak favor points which means he also usually gets
You really skilled Snipe instead of Mark of the Betrayer in a 1vs1 game against Sedna?! I guess you also did not think about buying reinforcement upgrades (Sedna has no real AoE). You may be right that he's weak in 1vs1, but that does not mean he needs to be buffed. To anyone who really thinks that he's too weak: Please explain why he gets, on average, most favor points per game .
Thanks for the update, it's a good idea to not introduce both at the same time. However, this one is gonna be hard to balance with passive crits, passive movement speed and passive dodge (and no real need for mana, it seems). I'd rather like that they introduce him too weak than too strong so that not everybody plays him, which would make the game unbearable. GPG , Stardock : Please think also of balancing the existing Demigods. Imho the game is
Nicely done, all those things would improve the game a lot. :)
Facts: There is not a single QoT in the ESL 2vs2 or 3vs3 ladders and I'm the only QoT in the 1vs1 ladder. She's also by far the least played Demigod . She gets, on average, the least favor points in each game . How can anyo
