We love giving you the reports each month. Then, we collect your comments and feedback, print them out and go over them.
And that's why as a Founder I'm super stoked for what Super Melee has in store!

Escort Mission Briefing Hello Captain You will be tasked with escorting this merchant ship all the way across the galaxy to its destination. You will not be able to use worm holes as the cargo inside is fragile and won't survive. On the plus side the merchant ship is equipped with a cloaking device. However if you or any other ship approaches 10 light years near the ship the cloaking system will immediately and permanently fail. So please keep your distance. <
Someone in this thread seemed to imply they had a key in their profile, or were looking for the game in their steam client already. Which seemed to contradict the original post and I got a little confused. But I think I've got a handle on it now! [e digicons]:)[/e]
Oh I see. That's certainly not the case at this time. If Super Melee gets announced and keys distributed, you can be sure there will be LOTS of threa
Wait, where is the steam key they mentioned? Or is that not up yet either. Sorry, just a little confused.
Uh like in the title of this post
Upcoming Star Control: Origins steam keys notice
And in the body
The good news is that we are on schedule to start delivering Steam keys for testing multiplayer Super Melee this Fall. The bad news is that Steam giv
I'm just outlining the potential pitfalls. If something is fun hell I'll take it. But it really depends on how exploration as a whole works from a mechanics standpoint. It could be fun, but it may not be relevant or necessary depending on the design decisions made.
Quoting satoru1, reply 12 I think there's a fundamental limit as to what they can share at this stage. Probably because lots of stuff is changing and such. they dont want to say "we are owrking on X" then suddenly say "uh yeah that was a totally bad idea we can't do it
^ Does a crashed ship with salvageable tech or quest artifact on the bottom of the ocean qualify for a "useful gameplay"? The one you can't reach without certain upgrade? Or progress your quest without? The one you can't scan to locate without a certain Magellan upgrade?
But then you're essentially again creating a thing where you create an entirely different tech, thta has literally a single purpose on a quest? I don't really have an issu
From my perspective its more important to consider whether underwater exploration actually represents a useful gameplay choice. Aka what is the point of underwater exploration? Is there an actual useful gameplay exploration mechanic that makes that useful/necessary. If it is then how does that impact how you upgrade your ship? Would this necessitate you 'back tracking' to planets to find stuff? Is such back tracking useful or just annoying?
Quoting RonPimpster, reply 41 I believe it is Dec 20th. If you google when does Fall end in 2016. It will tell you Dec. 20th What tech job does any work in December? Everybody is OOO half the month due to vacation carryover
I think there's a fundamental limit as to what they can share at this stage. Probably because lots of stuff is changing and such. they dont want to say "we are owrking on X" then suddenly say "uh yeah that was a totally bad idea we can't do it" kind of thing
Alternate Timeline: The UrQuan form an interstellar company called StarLanders. They specialize in the manufacturing of digital games and physical toys. Their efficiency ensure they enjoy a near monopoly on this industry In 2953 Toy Kzer-Za division splits from the Digital Kohr-Ah division.
Based on the yelling and cursing going on at Mohawk and Stardock, it appears Super Melee is working as designed in MP now.
WEll the last time there was much cursing and screaming, it was because of Stardock employees playing the pre-alpha-alpha of Offworld Trading Company Thus it would appear things are going very well with Super Melee :)
Sounds good Though does that impact how you do "Phase 2" of the Founders rollout?
So I noticed something in the recent beta. I run at an odd resolution 1600x1200. And I noticed that the screen looked 'fuzzy' After awhile I figured out what was going on. The game has set the UI scaling to 0.8. This caused the entire UI to look weird and blurry. I can't seem to set it manually nor force it to use no UI scaling :(
So are we getting Steam Codes for this game? That was definitely an aspect that made me hesitate before purchasing this as I figured it was highly possible Stardock would skip steam with the Founder's program. I hope they don't as I have a Steam Link and Steam controller.
Pretty much the only practical way to do Early Access kinds of things is to do it via Steam. Its the only real way right now to
It'll probably be similar to how GalCiv3 worked
Welcome to the monthly StarControl Vault Game! Today you'll be playing to see which vault to open. One vault holds tantalizing secrets for the new game with artwork, music and videos! The other vaults, have a Goat! Haha Well its actually a Spathi dressed as a goat but you get the idea. You don't want it. So have a while which vault will you open? The SHiny Red Vault 1? Or Maybe the Aquamarine Vault 2? But White Vault 3 does seem tempting doesn&#
I'm not so sure about #2. I mean Civ save game are less than 1MB. But lordy lord that game takes FOREVER to load Yet a game like The Long Dark loads almost instantaneously with a 100k save file Realisticfally the size of the save is only one small factor that goes into game load times.
I'd presonally want something like "This isn't going to be Star Control 2 in 3D so please stop asking for features that make it that" But that's a bit long winded :P
Not true! Not true! Blizzard and EA still have boxed copies of PC games. I always see all of Blizzard's games at Target and WalMart. Stardock isn't Blizzard, though.
The only reason Blizzard happens to be in stores is because its part of Activision And Activision needs retail to move the new Call of WhateverTheHellThisYear because they'll be releasing it
Didn't they partner up with other publishers for markets in Europe?
GalCiv3 got a retail release in Kalypso BUT 1) It was like 5 months post release 2) it was because Kalypso put up the money for translations, and thus got the retail rights in return for doing that. And in Europe retail physical boxes are still inexplicably popular. While in America you couldn't find a boxed copy of a PC game if yo
Well I guess its a good thing then that Stardock is also a publisher that has the prior experience with retail releases of their own games as well as others like demigod and sins. Lol
They also have experience bypassing retail all together. Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion was pure digital. And it was a HUGE success http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-07-26-stardock-to-ditch-boxed-releases-after-sins-of
I'm not sure how a limited-run physical release would hamper them in anyway. Still, it was just a request, nothing more. I'd love to have a boxed copy, and I know I'm not the only one.
I'm simply outlining the limitations of doing so. And the fact that there's almost zero financial benefit to them for making a boxed copy. "Limited" boxed release has its own set of problems. And I'
given their recent history I would say no retail releases hamper them and their latest games have shown that it's simply not necessary to be in retail to succeed. They would rather trade off the flexibility of release dates and be free of the shackles of retail. i do know that Galciv3 got a euro retail release but that was I believe because they outsourced various translations to that publisher.
I hope its not a Mass Effect styled exploration.....
