Seriously try a Windows System Restore point Otherwise if you're getting that level of corruption, a format is likely your only option.

I think functionally it's more to prevent the 'lets send all our ships around our homeworld to make it lterally impossible for anyone to launch a ground assault' Sure you can always out produce the opponent. but is it really fun to have to spend turn after turn pumping out and sending ships to the 'final' home world in a MP game just because your friend is trying to troll you?

I'd honestly try for a system restore point. If things like the control panel are dying something is veyr veyr very wrong with your system at its core.

I think that's always a problem For example in Civ5 a lot of people were complaining that "I want Civ4 but in 3D" Sort of the irony in that is, all the recent 'HD' versions of older games (Age of Empires 2, etc) has been met with "This should have been a patch to the original and not a new game" So a lot of times people 'say' one thing but then don't actually want what they say Also from a game dev standpoint, no one wants to 'make t

They're sending out batches of keys every Monday. So you'll have to see if you make the next "batch". note that it's a prototype. So if you thought the Galciv3 alpha was "rough around the edges", this is likely more along the lines of "a barbed wire fence laced with cobra venom". Keep your expectations in check.

And again Minefields make ZERO sense in 3D space. That would be like having minefields on Earth when warfare is being fought by jetpacks and hover tanks. Conceptually the only thing that makes sense is to have star bases exhibit zones of control that gave passive bonuses or could attack. If you're trying to use minefields as an area of denial concept you have the same issues as roads do in Civ. You'd simply put them EVERYWHERE. At which point they have almost n

Dunno I usually try to keep a lot of core components the same (mobo/cpu) while upgrading my memory and GPU up until ti's practical. I generally upgrade when the next memory cycle comes around. Though I suspect a lot of DX10 hold outs will need to upgrade to DX11 as that becomes more and more mainstream.

Here's the thing Even with game that have 3d strategic maps, you are still fundamentally limited to 'lanes' Ergo the question becomes: What do you GAIN from a 3D strategic map, vs what do you LOSE with it? to me the issue is that adding the 3rd dimension doesn't really add that much to a game, given that you're always going to limit travel via arbitrary 'lanes'. I consider these to be more like 2.5D Why do designers do this? Because

I consider it to be a totally unlawful practice. [/quote] I'm not sure what 'court' you are referring to unless it's a kangaroo court in your back yard. You may be new to this but Steam didn't invent regional pricing. Shocking isn't it. In fact before Steam you

Well it looks like the future is coming sooner than expected. Games requiring DX11 is on the rise. Though unfortunately, the amount of whining about this requirement is staggering. 64-bit uptake is a bit slower. Some have options for both. Even fewer are 64-bit only. Though given that 32-bit OS share on Steam's hardware survey, is close to dropping below 10% it could be time to switch.
