you just need to zoom out and zoom in. it'll take a while to get used to. Supreme commander had what you are talking about and this game is based on the supcom engine. They took out the minimap featues because this game only has 1 unit.
Frogboy..just a question! you say "This one isn’t touched by users who get the game at retail (or those who have a warez version of the retail)"..you implying that buying it in retail is not as legitimate as online? Cuz i'll be going to get it tomorrow morning (if I find it still available).
What he means is that retail version that hasn't been updated with the la
Depends which integrated chips.... There are high end integrated video card that does run this game.
Rocky_Tooth, no because this game doesn't run well on slow single cores. For single core, Demigod needs 3.0ghz or higher, that's my recommendation.
I suggest waiting 1 more week. but if you can't resist, get it tomorrow to practice with single player. multiplayer is great for me but your milage may vary.
Play pantheon mode. that's hides everyone's selection.
Yes, your computer is fine. Any dual core is fine. I'm running it on a 1.8ghz dual cpu as well.
Email for a refund.
Thanks for the hardwork.
I wouldn't put it either if I own the company. Anyways, I think IGN's review will be very positive. The reason I think so is that IGN has been putting Demigod in their top 10 list (top 10 2008) and top 10 spring games. I also think Gamespot's review is harsh based on multiplayer issues. If multiplayer was perferct, would gamespot give the game an 8? The game deserves a re-review but I don't think gamespot ever readjust their scores.
Yes, I was able to play get a 3v3 custom games this morning in 3 minutes. I love kicking those buggy players.
Moderators, please move this to general forum.
I notice from frogboy's post today that steam offers statistics of online players. http://store.steampowered.com/stats Will Impulse and demigod provide similar statistics? It'll be interesting to know how many daily online players are in demigod.
I think it's a mistake for demigod to connect to anything before the menu screen, even if it was to check for updates. All this should be done after the person clicks on multiplayer. Well it's too late to change now with the warez dvds out there. So 18,000 legitimate users which means 18,000 first days sales and preorder sales. Not too bad. I wonder how many are retail vs online. I think you'll get #1 NPD pc sales for thi
Looks like this will bring down the total metacritic score. sad news :(
I'm glad you like it as a dota fan. It seems split 50/50 if a dota person will like demigod. Regulus does have a maximum range but it's so big you usually don't notice it until you play the bigger maps. I'm also a big dota player and I love this game as well.
I'm in the same boat where I'm the one who recommends games to a group of 8 people. Over the years, the games that always seems to convice them all are Blizzard games. We are still playing WoW and diablo2. I don't need to convice them and I'm sure they will buy starcraft2 and diablo3. I say it's best to look at the history of the developer and publisher. Every game that Stardock has publish seems to have lasted years. All their games have expansion packs
It gets worst and worst because there's more and more people. Their servers can't handle it. There will be even more people every day as more people are just buying the game this week. Wait till this weekend, it'll be 3 times the load.
Impulse is suppose to handle all the port forwarding and router issues. I don't have to configure anything and I can play this game in multiplayer. The problem arise for people who have older routers.
The cpu is your problem. This game runs crappy on single core processors.
It is now a bit expensive that I would buy all the other gears first. It is no longer overpowered like before. People can now escape without being stun/slowed to death with the balance changes. In the past, the only good way to escape was warpstone.
Online play currently sucks but here are some tips to improve it while the developers are fixing it. The best option to get online game working is to pick the pantheon or skimish mode. If you pick those and the game doesn't start within 5 minutes, retry. As for custom mode, here are my opinion on success rate: 1v1: 90% 2v2: 50% 3v3: 10% Since this game is peer to peer, the more people, the harder to get a game going.
Very nice complaint about the online play from the OP. Well written. Online play currently sucks, even the developers know it sucks. They been trying to fix it for months, it's not going to be easy. The goal of impulse reactor was so that no one needs to port forward or do anything. I still having not done anything to my router and the game works fine for just 1v1 online play. I wish them good luck in this crappy peer to peer online
This game is under the "Games for Windows" brand which means it meets all the standard resolution displays.
Yup from my experience last night, which are probably the beta servers: Success rate of custom games trying for 20 minutes 1v1: 90% 2v2: 50% 3v3: 10% 4v4: 0% 5v5: 0%
