the file:C:\Program Files\Drengin.net\data\gc1\gc1.xml had 3 references to invasion. I used notepad to edit and delete those references. I disconnected then reconneted to Drengin. GalCiv and Media both had updates. I did media and got same error 13 on invasion. There are no references to invasion in xml file. If I upgrade GalCiv, the xml file is replaced. The game plays but the sounds...

I just upgraged to beta 3.a and after installing the data files, I then installed the multimedia files. I got the same error uncompressing invasion.mp3. The invasion.mtd file is in the C:\Program Files\Drengin.net\galciv\Gfx and 428 KB. no mention of error in debug.err. :sniff!:

I still get error 13 on Invasion.mp3. The debug.err file: *DEBUG ERROR: *** MWinEditFields::Create - Unable to load sprite book Invasion *** I ran searches on 'my computer' and deleted all invasion.* files. I just can get media files to uncompress.

I just had my starbase destroyed by a avatar. It had all available defense and military upgrades. If 3 avatars are docked at a starbase, will they add to the base defense? In the TV show, Deep Space Nine, the starbase was much more powerful then the one in beta 2. When I put 10 to 15 constructors into a starbase, it should not be destroyed so easily.

Read slowly: In the OS/2 version, the unused planets in a colonized system were resources on the detail page of the colonized planets. You could tweek military, social or research for each planet. The more unused resources, the more available for tweeking. If there are 4 uncolonized class 10 planets, you get combined total of 40 points. Maybe stardock could post an old gif showing this.

when you abandon a colony, the planet reverts to its undeveloped class. In GalCiv Gold for OS/2, destroy colony reduced the planet to class 1. Not a bad idea if Range matters in a huge galaxy.

I have a P4 1.8 with 512 MB pc800 RDRAM. I found the time dely between moves in a huge galaxy, near the end-game of the game way too long: averaging almost 2 min after my last ship moves and befor the planet improvement screen appears. I started a small galaxy game: 4x4 grid. No delay and I even turn on watch ships. I dont think this delay was a problem in the os/2 version, on my 486/100 cpu. Will the final version have better performance? The wait wouldnt be so bad if the game doesnt lock up un

I 2nd that motion. The OS/2 verion had convoys. I forgot the key combo that created the convoy but all convoy ships traveled at the same speed: the slowest ship in the convoy. When the convoy was attacked, battleships took hits before transports. When the final verion of the game comes out and Excaliburs and BattleStars are again available, I would like to see fast transports. It does not make sense for Excaliburs to travel at 20 with transports at 1.

Will galciv offer 2 monitor support? The star screen on 1 and the map and graph on other. The zoom feature on the galaxy is nice but I perfer full screen. Helpful on huge galaxy: can see ships better.

I tried the reverse and when my morality hit 70, my screen turned silver. However, the 'good' races are still demonic and the 'evil', saintly. In my last game, about 24 turns after siler, a 'good' race declared war on me. an evil race keep offering me 3 battle cruisers every 2 or 3 turns. I kept returning the cruisers and that improved my relations until we became allies. go figure.

During some games, for no reason, all my ships in transit (not in orbit) suffers 33% damage. Space stations included. this happens thoughtout the galaxy!. could the alt-tab key cause this?

I started a new game in Huge galaxy. My first 6 planets I got the 'Improve planet quality' option all 6 times. I could resist as all were 33 - 35%. I ended up with 6 planets 26 - 27 and my screen borders turned blood red. Within 12 turns 4 of 5 AI declared war on me. I held them off for 100 years (starting as the War Party helped). Didn't lose a planet but lost 3 survey ships. When I invaded 1 system, the defenders had a 750 defense bonus to my attact 100. I then realize the game was hopeless.<b
