The number of votes in the cyber polls is an indicatior. Only Brad knows exact count.

My suggestion for resources and planets: right click adds them to a survey log. See a unclaimed star, survey it, right click on that class 20 planet. This log could contain the item(planet/resource), type (planet class/resource type) and sector location. When you open the log and highlight a item , the item will blink on the galaxy map. Pen and paper will do the same but this is the 22nd century.
I sometimes start GalCiv without starting Dregin.net. I have cable so I'm always connected. Will this affect my Metaverse/gameplay at all?
A real shame. OS/2 was (is) superior to windows 3.1/9.x. I was able to: - format 2 floppies at work while using k-edit to read a 100mb report - play Sid Meiser's Civ (dos ver) in a window on my desktop - GalCiv2 ran much better on my 486-66 than it does now on my 1.8ghz Is there a paper explaining why os/2 died and windows conquered the world? (similar story: VHS vs Beta VCR formats) In 1994, I had numerous phone conversations with a marketing VP at IBM to ask why they not we
Should Galactiv Wonders, where only 1 is allowed in the galaxy, have a fast build option or as Red101 suggested, shorted build times. During WWII, we averaged 1 Victory ship per day. The contractors worked their factories 24/7. This same real world logic could apply here. We pay the overtime and get project built faster.
I got a 1.8 P4 w/512 pc800 RDRAM. I know the 1.8 helps but will GalCiv be 'faster' with more RAM? I am thinking of upgrading to a DEll P4 3.06Ghz with HT and 1GB pc1066 rdram. I'd be a XMas gift from my wife!
You are correct, Robert. I meant a small file. As far as I know, their is only 1 save game on main menu. Perhaps a save game menu ala Doom, where the player could give a description to the save game and have 10 saves. My strategy is to do an initial save, fast build 4 scouts and check the nearby sectors. If I like what I see, I restore to the beginning and invest 10-20 hours of playtime (more if I want superevil with good worms). I also agree with Technician. Earth is rarely a
The whole object is to make it more difficult to abuse this re-load cheat. In the beginning of the game where reloads are quick, it could take upto 15 minutes just to get a +34 planet improvement. I've seen +40 only twice since beta 3 arrived. On the flip side, the starship and research offers painless points to sainthood. Since the galaxy is made into grids, I suggest a cookie with a grid location code in its name. The number is meaningless to us but the program knows exactly which gri
Sometimes I fast build project or ships. On the Economic screen, my total monthly loan payments (hate the word leases) are shown. What I would like to see is loan summary pop-up window with a minimum of each loan's amount and number of payments left. Planet, interest charges and what I bought would be a bonus. In my current game, I have 130bc per turn in loan payments and no idea of how many months I had left on my loans. Agree/disagree?
Were you monitoring the moral of the break-away planets? I like moral in the 70 - 100 range. Below 70, I build transports and move them to a safe spot in space. BTW: I had transports destroyed while the space station remained. It should be the other way. Will the docking feature protect transports. Will a docked Avatar protect the space station? (Avatar takes hits before station or Avatar defense are added to station's)
I been using a colonization cheat in my games. Very helpful if I want to play either Good or Evil. The cheat works as follows: When my colony ships first approaches a star, I save the game. Then I colonize the planet. If I don't like the results, I load game and try again. I've gotton a few +40 planet improvement this way. My suggestion: when a colony ship opens the star/planet window and colonizes a planet, a cookie is created for that star/planet on the HD. This cookie would contain th

First time playing Evil empire and found new bug: A.Slave project shows Micro Repair bots in window; build bar fully shaded.
I play atleast 1 game per week, never lose, and still Citizen. How do I get promoted?
a map editor similar to Sid Meier's Civilizatoin 2. Instead of selecting galaxy size, I could select pre-made map. These maps could then be posted on GalCiv binary newsgroup.
I always liked the name Excalibur. It reminds me of the sword and King Arthur. Most of my games end before I build Avatars so I haven't seen the Overlord. The Defenders are useless after BC appear. Bring back the Corvettes. The are an incentive to be good.
I dont think there is room on the Diplomacy screen to promote the minor races. I read for beta 4, the Bradian AI is being toned down. Minor races should not build colony ships. Minor = 1 planet. In my current game, I took Brad's suggestion and made all AI good. I became evil. The Bradian AI was the first to declare war. In 3 turns, all major AI declared war. Their reason: I was at war with the Bradians! The initial placement of the 5 AI needs to be improved. I had a game in a
Another advantage of being good is that your friends will give you ships while you are at war with the bad guys. I got a few battleships this way.
In beta 2, terraforming was 50%. It was dropped to 20% in beta 3. Its cost stayed at 1,000 shields. Put it to a vote, back to 50%, drop cost, or stay same. I think Brad wants to bring Crystali back to the game. Not sure if ver 1.0 or 1.x. Might be able to build this wonder before terraforming.
I got a message that trade was doing so well thoughout the galaxy, criminal elements may appear. About 20 pirate BattleCruisers appeared, 1 right inside a planet. I have no problem with this, it spices up the game, but did you have to give them 440 hp?
I agree; seeing the galaxy map when adjusting a planet would be beneficial.
I disagree that the new windows version is 'way passed' the old os/2 version. They are different. Graphics aside, the os/2 version had the Terror star, Paladin, Ranger, Excalibur and BattleStar ships that everyone could build. Plus it had the Terminator and Corvettes ships that good/bad races may build. There are Galactic improvements like Dinosaur Park (+50% ecomonic) and Crytalis (+1 to all planets in your star systems) that are not in the new windows version. There are differences in social p
BTW I noticed the there are multiple owners of the ships in same grid location. When attacking these stacks of ships (so far 20 highest) my ship will keep firing, even though it has no moves left. A warning may pop-up warning me if I want to attack other AI ships in stack. I select 'no', and if my ship isn't destroyed, the pile is reduced from 20 to 5, the 5 is just the 2nd AI ships. My own ships stack with AI ships when on autopilot. Very annoying if I use auto to attack. I must no
do you want ver 1.0 that first appeared on 4 floppy disks?
I just won by conquering the galaxy. The final screen has 2 minor bugs: Question marks. 1: "Paving the way to victory in the blood of their enemies, the ? civilization has emerged ... victorious." 2: "Emperor ? will be .... remembered"
