If I recall correctly, in the game I just finished, creation of planets was a researchable tech. I believe I researched it, but I never did anything with it, so I can't tell you how it works.

I don't have any better idea what this would take, but I'm in complete agreement with Elrikk. The auto-focus switch is often very annoying, and I'd like to be abel to turn it off and just hit "Find" when I want to move on.
Hope you all get well soon.
Magus, Yeah, that occurred to me after I posted the question. I guess I can load the autosave, which is usually a couple turns old, and then play out the last couple turns when I have a connection.
Yeah, I wish I could go into the kind of debt the AI does with what seem to be only minor consequences. And it does seem that any ship parked on a starbase interferes with the upgrading of the base. It would be nice if that could be fixed, 'cause I often have a warship sitting on a base for protection, so that I have to manually check every base to make sure no Constructors are hanging out without upgrading.
Magus, Thanks. It's taking a bit longer for them to catpitualte than I expected :-), but when I finish, I'll submit it. Another question, though: I'm playing on a laptop. If I finish a game while I'm somewhere where I can't go online, can I save the game to submit when I connect, or do I lose the opportuntiy to submit?
I think I might actually finish a game soon--it'll be the first time! What is the procedure for submitting to the metaverse?
I'm fairly sure that DGM will always install the latest version, so I wouldn't worry about all those numbers. When the last beta is released Monday, DGM will indicate that an ungrade is available, and you'll be able to download that. It'll be the last new version until the game's released.
"definitely" :-)
Yes, a more complete manual would be nice.
Jack, If you're talking about things like the assassination plot, I wouldn't make too much of that. A bunch of hapless amateurs who fell apart as soon as they discovered the attempt had gone sour. The only "top" person connected with the plot was Rommel, and it's debatable how much support he actually had for the conspirators. Plus, once Hitler showed himself alive and well, opposition to him sank even lower. If anything, the July Plot solidified Hitler's position. Anyway
Don't feel bad, Razqon. You weren't that far wrong. It's fashionable now to talk about underground resistance to Hitler's programs, but their numbers and effects are greatly exaggerated. The vast majority of the population went along with Hitler, some wholeheartedly, some in resignation, but still cooperating. Hitler wasn't brought down by some underground resistance network, he was brought down by the combined military might of the US, UK, and USSR, which the German's resisted way past the
It's probably late to suggest this, but...I'd like it if, once you changed a ship name, the new name would become the default name for any new ships of the same class.
And, I just had a Torian ship take out a starbase which had FOUR defenders parked on it [#7]. I hate that!
I tried moving them onto the resource manually, but they wouldn't move. I hope this gets addressed before the release. Another thing I just noticed: I'm at war with the Torians, and at the start of this turn, I got the "Twilight of Humanity?" message. It says that the combined military and economic ratings of the Torians is 186, while mine is 264, which is "chilling news for us." This is silly, and it's worse if it's having a negative effect on my morale, which may be the case. <
I like #5 and #11 especially--anything to make it easier to keep track of what's going on.
I have to admit that, until recently, I greatly preferred SEIV. However, this is due to the number of bugs which were present in earlier builds GalCiv, bugs which often forced games to abrupt ends before a winner was decided or simply made playing less enjoyable. Now that the beta is more stable and the amount of bugs has been reduced, it's easier to see what the finished product will be like, and to have fun playtesting. It's a much closer call now as to which I like better. Plus, even when
Here's a bug I don't recall seeing mentiond before. I'm in the middle of an extremely seesawing game, in which first I was fighting the Altarians, and now the Arceans. I had quite a few starbases on resources, which the Altarins destroyed before I finally brought them down. Then I tried to rebuild starbases on those same resources, but the game wouldn't let my constuctors enter the resource space. I'd move on to another resource, only to notice shortly afterward that the Arceans had built a
I remember someone [Lucky Jack?] posted a long list of misspellings, but I don't think this was on it. In the description of "Star Democracy," the word "populous" needs to be changed to "populace."
Betaman, When that happens, you've gotta build some constructors and plant a starbase somewhere as far out as you can, which will expand the range your colony ships can reach.
Sounds great--especially the difficulty setting so that you don't know exactly what you're gonna run into. The only thing I'm not sure about is the expansion of random events. I kinda feel like I already see too many free ships and enhancements to my survey ships. On the other hand, if you increase the kinds of events, then maybe the frequency of individual events will drop, which would be good.
Let me cast my vote for the undo button that would go back two or three orders, and the warning if you attempt to initiate building a one-per-race or one-per-galaxy improvement when you're already building it elsewhere. Anyone else experiencing the lag in the announcements for completion of projects? I never noticed this happening in earlier builds, but it happens quite often now.
I'm also experienceing the big drops when I load a saved game. However, it's on every graph except the one for influence, which is flat and has been for the entire game, so far as I know.
I thought the bug which caused planets to defect to you after you lost an election had been fixed. However, it happened to me again in the game I started today in a gigantic galaxy. I thought I'd let you know it's still present.
Hi Folks, So far, 4B is running very smoothly on my 1.7 MHz, 512MB RAM, Win XP Dell laptop. I love the new, larger map size. It always bothers me when games like this cover too small an area--interstellar space is AWFULLY big! A few problems, some of which are still present from older builds: 1. The announcement for United Planets meetings still comes late--either the turn of the meeting, or the one following. 2. A new problem similar to #1--announcements
