Thanks AM. However, in that case, I wish cultural allegience were displayed somewhere also, since I never know that a planet is in danger of defecting until I get a warning message. By then, it's often too late to start building news netwroks/propaganda centers.

I think he means to have a listing, just like we do for our planets, which would list every planet we've discovered, and be sortable by various categories, such as planet quality. This would make it easier to locate planets for colonization. I would assume that it would be good if planets would be removed from the list as they are colonized, by you or someone else, or at least have an indicator of their state regarding colonization. I agree that something would be useful. Right now,
Building things like the news network and propaganda center on the planet with the skull can help avoid its defection. Also, starbases in the sector with culural improvements. But, there is something strange about morale. You would think that a planet with decent morale would not be in danger of defecting, but I've gotten messages to that effect regarding planets whose morale was quite healthy. I don't know what is happening there.
I haven't noticed any difference, whether it's becoming good or bad. Maybe it's something specific to your system.
I click on those messages one at a time, so I can see what I built on a planet last as I'm choosing what to build next.
Make sure you haven't gone negative in your economy. If you do, your morale will tank, as will production, etc. Also, I tend to spend a lot on destabilization. I imagine that option is open to the AI also. If one or more of them are spending to destabilize you, it will be difficult to fight. If your economy is stonger, you might be able to beat them at this, but, if you're weaker, there might not be much you can do.
Yeah, it's happened to me, too. Don't remember whether restarting fixed it.
Actually, minor races might abide by the UP decisions, since they ARE minor and might not want to anger the big boys. But, yeah, pirates, etc., shouldn't care.
I would think that not being able to rebuild a starbase on a resource where you had one get destroyed must be unintentional. So, it would be nice if that could be corrected for the release version.
I'd go for that! It can be awfully hard to pick out the starbases on a gigantic map.
I find the sliders to be a real pain--the only thing I really hate in the game.
Yeah, I meant those little freighters that take over the route once the big freighter completes its first run. Every time the AI fries one of mine, the report says that "Trade Ship X was destroyed," so that's why I called them that.
Yeah. The intention might be for resources to only appear at the start, but that's definitely not what's happening. And I do mean resources, the red, green, blue, yellow, and purple minable things. I see new ones late in the game, in places where I've been already, and sometimes just a sector or two from my worlds. They're definitely new--the AI discovers them at the same time, and then it's a race to see who can build constructors and get them there quickest.
Yeah, it turns white.
My last game was against all Normal AIs, but it was reported as all Fools.
I noticed that on planets that I made defect to me--populations of "0" I mean. However, they weren't completely empty, and after a few turns under my rule, the population would grow. I just assumed that the pop was less than one million, so it displayed as zero, since everything rounds down in the game.
Does the trade federation prevent attacks on trade ships, too?
oops! "echs" should be "techs."
I wonder--I assume that pursuing diplomatic techs and building the improvements which come with them gives you more clout in dealing with the AI. At least, it seems like it should. So, the lack of aggression on the AIs' parts may have to so with you being strong diplomatically. In this case, it's not a problem, it's the result of your efforts to gain a diplomatic edge--something I usually go for. If you tend to research other sorts of echs and ignore improving diplomacy and influence, maybe
I wonder what percentage of sales comes from preorders. For instance, I bought GalCiv in beta, and I preordered MOO 3. So, it makes no difference, in my case, if they're released on the same day [except for deciding which one to play first, which would probably be MOO 3, only because I've been playing GalCiv in the beta version for a couple of months].
I change as soon as I can, and I don't experience any economic setbacks. Was there a recession?
Yeah, the last two games I played, resources sprouted like crazy toward the end. However, I finally discovered that, on the mini-map, if you have ships and planets turned off, the resources are very easy to spot, so I usually have it set that way. And, since I was building lots of constructors, I was able to beat the AI to the resources most of the time.
leelafond, Well, here's a hint. When we were deaing with earlier builds, with their bugs and various things that detracted from the play, I had no problem spending time reading these posts, posting myself, etc. Now that we have a really solid beta which is beginning to approach the version which will be released, I hate to take time to read and post, 'cause it's just too much fun playing the game! I'm fairly familiar with 4X games, MOO, Space Empires IV, etc., but this is significant
In the screen for the establishement of the first colony, "we will also have to be weary of the dangers...," "weary" should be "wary."
