Looks like there will be a lot of stuff, but I'm not seeing anything.

Can't wait to see further articles on this topic- unexpected side-effect is collaboration and sharing of techniques. Looks like everyone will benefit.
This is such a great series! I've started referring people to 'em when they ask questions like "So how do I theme windows?" They're well written, too: keep you entertained while educating.
Why, yes it is! Relatively, anyway. I've had it online for since August but haven't advertised it while debugging the CMS. Still managed to get 150 beta testers, just by word of mouth. Official post soon!
Tandis, thanks for posting the link here! I was one of those people stranded by ComAir without luggage over the holiday, and it's been a struggle to post anything recently. Brad was most kind to permit this interview, and we at SkinYourScreen.com are very grateful!

AstonShell and AltDesk (lump 'em together?)
Well done, Brad! Great overview of both, and the treatment to both was balanced and fair with opinion stated as such and the objective analyses informative! I never really realized that Aston was simply redirecting downloads from other sites (or Talisman for that matter). I believe Aston has more recently begun to host themes directly from their site. For instance, when I updated my most recent
Just realized that I've fallen into the jaded category Oh well, if anything, it'll help develop a thicker skin.
Jafo- known you long enough to know you're neither Bradite, nor Parrot, but nobody can argue that you're bona-fide pro-wincustomize. MindlessPuppet- Point taken. It's amazing how many really cut-throat threads there have been over the last 2-3 years here, ones not engendering a tenth of the sentiments exp

IPlural, I honestly feel as though your posts here were intended to be insulting, so my attempt was to be as explicit as possible. I've also attempted to maintain a fairly objective stance despite feeling strongly on the issue, whereas others, yourself included, have made jabs, cracks and comments that have consequently been edited. This is not an equitable solution. If I had to blanket you into a group, it would be the "Adversarial group," of which MindlessPuppet and Jafo would pro
Koasati- that's encouraging to know. Chas- Didn't mean for it to take that tangent. Interesting study in stream of consciousness, though: Elitism by front-page opinions -> Jafo: Certain user statuses can post news. -> MrB: User promotions subjective -> Jafo: No -> MrB: Yes, because it appeared that only WinCustomize contributors were promoted, contrary to policy. Your question introduces an interesting nuance, however. Is WinCustomize a Theming community site, or is it solel
MindlessPuppet- The quote WC's policy: "WinCustomize is not the skinning community, helping other websites in the skinning community counts as well..." with regards to promotions. This is completely neglected. Iplural- I thought I was being obvious- apologies if it's too much for you. I'm also reluctant to be purely direct because I've known plenty of friends that "used" to be WC'ers. Direct translation so you'll understand: They were either banned or felt so unwelcome that they vol
The squeaky wheel gets the hammer... It does appear that many "direct" speakers take the brunt of the overdog worshippers (remember JamMeister33?). Speaking of "overdog worshippers," remember that great blog Brad wrote about a year ago (in relation to TGTSoft's StyleXP vs. WindoBlinds)? Curious how the tables have turned. Jafo- the nomination process described on this site explicitly details that the contributions of the promoted individual are community-wide, larger

I find this exceptionally surprising! This type of behavior is not condoned at any other site (besides, obviously, personal sites). I don't mind seeing actual news. It's the editorialization, the loss of objectivity, and the fact that it's only coming from the CEO of StarDock. Perhaps I wouldn't feel so strongly if we saw other individuals blogs in the "news" section. The WC4 option to facilitate
I'm really amazed at the positive response to the Blogging poll. I stand adamantly in the "No, this sort of thing should be in the message boards, not the home page" and feel like my comments in FrogBoy's blogs may have precipitated the formation of the poll. Here's my justification: WC is a community-based site, not the personal opinion site of any one person. While it's true that the message boards and commenting systems permit the average community member or theme user to post th
No offense, Frogboy, but the Blog's and editorials might more rightfully belong in the Forums. It's just the fact that these are opinion pages which make it "to the front page," so to speak, because you're the president of the company whose software is promoted on this site. Not that you don't deserve to: StarDock fronts the majority of the funding for WinCustomize, and may even contribute server space (I have no idea). In favor of objectivity and respect for the WC community, which h

Messy Buu, nice try, but you missed the POINT of my questions. Why is it so funny to believe that someone who converts to Mac calls Frogboy biased? You have to admit by virtue of the facts that Froggie's articles have only recently included anything of objectivity on the issue (the link to an alternate stance, predominantly). Mac or PC user, the recent string of news articles on Konfab have clearly been greatly biased. You more than graciously (inadvertantly) proved my second point:
Would much rather use litestep modules, and they're FREE. Nice little proggie, though.
Did anyone here claim to be an Ex-Windows user? Did anyone extol the superiority of OS X? The google search links came up with little one-page articles at individual sites, not the surplus that have been published at WC. The point is, there is clearly a bias being presented here, and although Froggie provides a link to a counterpoint, this is still no objective piece of journalism. Being StarDock's product site, they reserve the right to do that. That does not imply that we can't po
Jarget!!! Somebody understood! This huge "controversy" with Konfabulator appears to be "konfabulated." Truth be known, it isn't causing that big a stir amongst Mac users or PC users, except here. How many articles have we seen posted on this here at WinCustomize? 3-5? How many do you see at say SlashDot, or DeviantArt? 1-2? So either Frogboy is visionary with regards to the future of this topic, or
Frankly, this smells of fear. Fear of being absorbed. Fear of being replaced. Fear of being made obsolete. And rightly so, unfortunately. It's funny, what this Dashboard issue has stirred up, or rather, brought back up to the bubbling top of the soup. The situtation's always been this way, but now it's labelled "controversy." In all honesty, the only place I've heard anything about (for or against) the Apple/Tiger/Dashboard/Innovation? issues has been at WinCustomi
