Yea I agree. And most definitely agree about the physics (which I have studied a little along with some chemistry). There are some explanations in the book but i'll put more elsewhere for more advanced enthusiasts (perhaps on a website as I have some I.T. training as well) as most physics bamboozles the average person. The "LightDrive" is an invention of my own but several elements run in tandem with 'FISIP' theory (alternate model for gravity, light and magn

Hello all, been around these forums for a couple of years. Sins is one of my favourite RTS's and certainly one of the best in the Sci-Fi genre. But there is a reason I am attracted to this genre and that is because I am currently editing a 400 page Sci-Fi/Action/Mystery novel that I have been writing since 2008. I, like many here, love and revel in the sounds of crackling shields, pulsing inter-planetary engines and sizzling energy weapons that have the power to crack th
True, they could be new maps. But the last dot point interests me greatly. New victory conditions provide multiple paths towards becoming emperor of the galaxy.
Well true, I didn't build any SBs, but Unfair is indeed pretty easy. I think you would agree that Vicious is certainly difficult without using early rush tactics (home world in 3 jumps, destroy the frig factory blah blah) or SB abuse. I am a fairly casual player thats been around for a while but probably fits into the category of those scared to enter the highly competitive, veteran filled, multi-player scene. I definitly agree though that tha
Ok, so had a few games since the recent patch and I gotta say Advent is looking better. Still the weakest race, but a nice touch in the right direction from the Devs. Illums are still tough to get but are performing better with their buff, the Halycon is holding up better against Skirantra's nowadays and it was good to see them get something to help against phase missiles (in the form of the pact, one that is not easy to get especially as Advent but a help all the
^ Best comment ever.
Yea but Zeus had the help of a couple of Titans as well as the Cyclopes and Hecatoncheires (Giant gods of violent storms and hurricanes who had one hundred hands each). How the hell are we supposed to compete with that? [e digicons]:pout:[/e]
Yea true, I spose it could somehow be a ratio between Defense teams starting worlds (including a score for different planet types) and Invader teams number (in supply) of ships. Would definitely be difficult to work it out in a balanced way however. And chokepoints would play havoc on the balance as well. Would be great fun tho. It would be great fun and would take some good knowledge of the game to work out which world to fall back to on the defense side. On the over side of the
I would like to see a new game type of the same name as this thread where one team has a large number of ships (but no way to build any) and another team has limited resources but has the capabilities to get more (planets/extractors/some trade). That way one team is on defense and one team becomes the "Invaders". Of course this would be no fun at all, or at least limited to MP, unless the AI knew how to take out SBs. But it would provide some great opportunities f
Wow... can't wait to test this!
Yea im looking forward to interesting pacts and better envoys too. Perhaps their supply cost will come down a little as well? (unless they are buffed or their abilities are re-vamped considerably) The pirate overhaul made single player a fair bit more fun for those of us who love free-for-all smash ups against the AI, but I think this will be even better. Btw Yarlen, you guys mentioned that a fix to the Domina (channeling abilities) could be on the table a while back, will this get
Great news guys! [e digicons]:')[/e]
I too am suspicious on Cap leveling by Cruel+ AIs I had a game not long ago as Advent against a TEC Cruel who seemingly had unlimited level 6 caps in the late game. I was the only opponent left and was always the target of the pirates (to save cash) so I know he wasn't leveling them any other way. Also, being Advent, no Insurgency nom noms either. The only way I could explain it was that either he was building them as level 6 or, as you say, he could have
I would like to see Flak Burst buffed considerably so that at level 3 it can function well without a second Kol backing it up. Then at least the Kol would have a decent ability carrying it instead of one that needs to be invested on two ships in order to be effective.
The forum just likes me [e digicons]:\[/e]
"The problem is vasari r too strong. Nerfing the other races isn't feasible." Not quite the case anymore, although I agree with putting away the nerf bat. With the Novalith/Hoshi buff as well as the nerfs that the Vasari have received of late I'd put those two almost on par. The problem is that the Advent is too weak, particularly against Vas. Illum buff plus a fix for the Domina would do wonders however.
Of course, if you sit back and let a player build that many titans in the the first place then your probably doing it wrong. As Whiskey said, 3 or more will probably cripple most of an empire for a fair while. Blast them to bits in that large window of opportunity or suffer the consequences.
I agree with above. A fix to the empire tree to stop it jumping would be great.

^ Agreed with pretty much all in the above post. If the Advent got a fix to their Domina/Illum/Starfish then people on this forum would suddenly be looking at them as a dominant faction. I would like to see all 3 dominant and would prefer buffing weak factions to nerf batting strong ones.
lmao, didn't think of that or see it coming.
Real Life. If you can get enough people to listen to you and attack random stuff for no reason. [e digicons]:dur:[/e]
Yea Age of Mythology is a good oldie' I got it to work on my new Win7 laptop ok... me and my gf play LAN occasionally and its great fun.
First I wanna say, I love debating balance and strategy for this game. A fair amount of my enjoyment of RTS comes from talking strategy and this one is one of the best. I feel that the recent patch has 'mostly' balanced TEC and Vasari in early game and late game. Both have useful superweapons, decent abilities (TEC mostly in the early game and Vasari mostly in late however both with a decent spread i.e. dem bots and a solid scramble bombers) and dissimilar but still product
