Oh man, you are rly not letting reality let itself get in the way of your good time if you think Illuminators don't need a buff. These ships are meant to fill the LRF role of the advent, yet their damage is split among 3 banks (only one frontal) and they are tier 3 for f%#ks sake! This ship almost by itself gimps the advent faction in the early game as it costs way too much to tech 'em and then they perform pathetically compared to the assailant which is tier 1.<br

Actually not quite so, How a unit fares against its peers can be very different to how it fares against its counters. For example, the Vas bomber is equipped with phase missiles, a weapon designed to pass through shields. Testing these heavy hitters against other types of bombers would not result in a useful conclusion as none of the strike craft in Sins use shields. This test would give very different result than one against capital ships. Also, pound for pound do

In a game that involves 'counters', testing ship classes against each other is of little value. Instead, test Lrms and bombers against caps and starbases, flak against sc and lrms, Lf against support and carriers and HCs against several frigate classes including caps. Then calculate the costs of the units as well as looking at the cost to upgrade them, also factor in the time to produce these ships. Oh and also try them against different races. Only i

Cos those meteorites have probably been falling for millenia and after all that time those asteroids are going to be more mineral rich that those without many meteorites falling. The population doesn't pick up the space rocks, the miners do. From underground from where they have been for a few good hundred years.

I agree with Darvin. TEC can handle themselves late game, it's difficult but possible with an advantage. The big problem is Vas vs Advent and TEC vs advent early game. The advent need something they can use against phase missiles. And to silverion, logic has little to do with it. By your argument, if the vasari developed a weapon that vaporized entire fleets then they should put it on every ship because it would make sense for them to do that. Yes, all factions need streng

Dang thats a lot of Heavies... you should have no prob except for the Subverters. There is no reason you should not be wining unless they are locking up your entire fleet (which is entirely possibly with bloody 19 of them). As late game TEC i will generally avoid any grav well with that many teched subverters unless I have: an overwhelming advantage or plenty of LFs or as darvin said, crack out the akkan's armistice for some tricksies.

Yea agreed... I think that the way to fix battleships being counter-able in the early game would a speed boost and make their DPS/hull/shield go up in a parabolic curve. So that the increases are small in levels 2 and 3 but steep in 8, 9 and 10. This would make allow frigates to take one down early but later they become scarier. And with kiting, perhaps that can be a bit of a counter to them.

I know I recently posted this as a reply to a balance thread but it inspired me to say it here too. I would love to see caps ships not just balanced but fitting the roles that suit their classes. And by that I mean battleships being real battleships, as in vessels to fear on the battlefield due to seriously charged weapon banks and tough to crack armored plating. Im talking bout ships that cruise into the fray with guns blazing! And other ship

I'd love to see battleships as a wealth of damage and armor. It would be nice to see them as bad ass as in come in guns blazing bad ass. Thats what I'd like to see :)

I posted this a while ago... but I think a possible solution to the bomber swarm/weak fighters issue would be to greatly reduce the speed at which both are built. Make it so that when SC are killed they stay killed at least for a little while. This would make Fighters viable. The biggest problem in sins across the board (not talking faction balance) is that LRF are op, Bombers tower over all and some units barely get a look in (LFs/HCs are useful depending on situatio

Yea t'was a great moment. I bought up both the infrastructure and the health+explore upgrades because why not? lol Celebration of lulz! Oh and yes I know being a human is a humongous advantage to me. But one of those advantages we have is the ability to learn . I have never beaten cruel AI 1v1 simply because I don't have the time like many gamers have and thought that Vas v Adv. was a good way to ease into it. I won't argue with your analysis o

Just having a muck-around game 1v1 Vasari Vs Advent on Cruel (yep, I chose Vas to give me an edge, I don't consider myself a professional at all) anyways, so colonization is going pretty well. Had a few skirmishes with the AI too, nothing I can't handle. But 38 minutes in something rather amusing occurred. Any player here worth his salt knows that the Advent Mothership has the best colonization ability (bummer the rest of the faction sucks atm inho) however, Vasari are s
