I was thinking. Isnt it possible to fix the cathedral of valor if you make the building indestructible, and the moment you finish it, it adds a +2 to your race specs EXACTLY like anomaly's?I ofcourse know nothing about your engine, but it seems to me that if you run into a problem with it not being a superstructure, you might be able to make a trigger that links itself to the anomaly stats.
Well, the first part of the problem is that it's an ordinary improvement and th

The fix is now up on Impulse and Stardock Central.
In version 1.96 which is now available, the game does not crash, but your ships may look a little funny since when it can't find the model file, it just starts sticking the ship components on the hull. This problem can occur if you overwrite existing ship designs. You may want to clear out your existing ship designs before starting a new game to prevent further problems.
OK we put up an update to fix the issue with the ship components and the AI not working.
Yeah, it won't hurt anything to use the zip whether you're using SDC or Impulse.
Can you guys please check to see if the zip file I link to here fixes the issue? https://forums.galciv2.com/316802/
Cari, I also have that bug where I see ALL ship components (weapons, etc) in my designer regardless of whether I have researched them or not.Further Bug: In my game (tough difficultly with associated intelligence), none of the AIs are building military ships and they also are not building star bases or construction ships (although they built colony ships early on). I did alt-tab at one point, and when I returned that seems to be when the lack of building started. Perhaps the fix for th
There seems to be a slight problem with this update, when I go into the ship designer I see components that are normally associated with the minor race tech tree, no matter what default race I play as. Now, if I don't have the tech for a particular component then the ship will not show up in the list of things to build (so not really exploitable) but it does make things confusing.
Just had a user come in IRC reporting that, so I actually already have a fix, but the peo
Hey, Cari..I sent you guys a saved game with the issue of having a ship frozen in the lower corner of the screen that seemed to do nothing but occupy the lower corner of the screen. It was not recognized by my cursor. I have also had that issue with Terror Stars (long) after I had fired them. In fact, I had a game where the Terror Star basically became an ornament on the screen after I used it. Even the enemy ships were ignoring it. Did anyone have a chance to check that out?
<
Also, if Impulse told you that you needed to reboot to finish installing the update, there may be temp files in your data\English directory which would also cause that message.
Just install and update the copy on both machines. Here are instructions on how to play a multiplayer game: https://forums.politicalmachine.com/316449
So you are working on implementing civ wide bonuses for normal PI? That would be great
Well, since the Cathedral of Valor isn't a super project, it won't work to give a civ wide bonus. So what we are thinking about doing is making it so that transports can have an invasion bonus, which they will get if they are built on planets with the Cathedral of Valor on them.
As Brad suggested, Impulse may not prevent you from installing the game because of RAM. However, you should make sure that you have enough virtual memory allocated so that you don't get additional slowdown from Windows having to dynamically increase the amount of virtual memory while playing the game. To increase the amount of Virtual Memory available to Windows: 1) Right click on the My Computer icon and chose properties 2) Click on the advanced tab 3) Unde
How about the Issues? I noticed that they do not have the same break up that endorsements do. In fact I can't even find the issues for the scenarios, such as Drengi(no Korath?) and Europa. How can I edit those for a scenario?
The number of Issues should be unlimited. The issues for the scenarios are in the \Data\English\Maps\ folder corresponding to the scenario name.
The Improving the economy issue is not listed with the rest of modern issues[/quo
The update to 1.96 should show up on Stardock Central and Impulse shortly. If it doesn't show up for you, try switching to server US-1 (that's the first one it gets copied to) and refresh your XML data. If, after updating with Stardock Central, your titlescreen still says 1.95 or earlier, see below the change log for instructions on how to force it to re-update. + NEW: Clicking on Race Logos on the Civ Manager>Timeline>Legend screen will toggle them on/off i
Stardock should (officially) go to Comic Con. They talk about everything there, not just comics. It's a pretty interesting event. GalCiv2 and SOASE are fairly popular in California, so you guys would some attention at Comic Con.
We'd actually have to talk Brad into sponsoring the trip, because i don't have any friends or relatives in San Diego that I could crash with. :)
Title: Innovation in the game industry. Description: In order for the gaming industry to survive and thrive, new ideas need to be made. If people don't make something different from time to time, the entire market will be filled with the same kind of games, but with different packaging, that few people will want to buy.
Hmm, that's also interesting. Could talk about the Wii and the DS, which have some of the most fun games to play right now.
If you don't get to be guest, why don't you talk to Brad about having another dev chat? It'll be fun, uncensored, and you don't have to worry about crowds!
I'd love to have another dev chat, either way. It was a lot of fun last time.
Maybe we'll find some way to get a day pass to come hang out again or something(The Girl and I were handing out with you and Paul during the 2006 panels).
That'd be great! Paul is going to Japan this
Does Stardock go to Comic Con?
Not officially. Dragon*Con is the only convention that I've been to. It's convenient because my brother lives in Atlanta so while I'm down there I visit him.
The 5th of May isn't even really celebrated much in most of Mexico, only in the state of Puebla, where like forty years after their independence, the Mexicans fought a battle to expel Maximilian's (the puppet dictator from France) army. Actually, I did know that it was when Maximillian was kicked out, but I didn't know about the 15th and 16th of September. It would be like the equivalent if we celebrated the day old Stonewall
Some of you may be aware that I've been a panelist at Dragon*Con the past two years. I usually forget to post about it until the last minute, but I'm trying to get my act together early this year. :) Dragon*Con happens in downtown Atlanta every year during Labor Day weekend. It's a great convention for geeks of all kinds, and seeing downtown Atlanta swarming with storm troopers, furries, elves, pirates, and anime characters is just awesome. I've sent in m
Looks like you should increase your virtual memory, since you have so little RAM. To increase the amount of Virtual Memory available to Windows: 1) Right click on the My Computer icon and chose properties 2) Click on the advanced tab 3) Under performance, click on the Settings button. 4) Click on the advanced tab 5) Click on the change button 6) Change the initial size to the recommended size and then increase the maximum size. Try updating your sound drivers. Sometimes the Miles Sound System has trouble with old sound card drivers and bogs down the video. You can also try increasing your sound card acceleration, or decreasing it, and seeing if that changes. I can't give you a definative answer on which will work better because it depends on your sound card and their drivers.
The Mods folder doesn't currently work, but the game automatically creates it as part of the engine. I would like to implement it when I get the chance. As far as the endorsements, you can only have as many as there currently are. I hate hardcoding, but we just didn't have time to make some things not hardcoded. So you could replace the current ones or make your own scenario and create a whole new file. If I have time to implement the mods folder, I'll see if I
