Anti-aliasing does increase the amount of video memory in use and there was a bug in one of the 8000 series drivers released this summer, but since you have older drivers I don't think that you'd have that bug. Turning off the little ships flying around the planets would probably also help.

You need to play on-line. From the full version, click on the multiplayer and sign in with your Impulse Account, create a game, then when you get to the game lobby, check the AI opponent checkbox and you can choose an AI opponent. From the Express version, it's much the same except that it's just the play button.

Also, it may help if you make the computer not automatically restart after a bluescreen. Right click my computer->properties->Advanced->Startup and recovery. Click the settings button under 'Startup and recovery'. Uncheck Automatically restart. Under Write debugging information, change the drop down box to small memory dump. The mindump files are saved by default to c:\windows\minidump. We might need you to send in the minidump dependi

If you used a smaller resolution, it would be able to unload resources that it's not using because not as much stuff would be on screen. If you want to play at that large a resolution, try playing only in tactical mode and turn off the background stars and see if that helps.

It's probably either a bug in the pathfinding or the AI movement code. Right click on the save file and choose send to compressed folder, then attach the file in an e-mail to [email protected] and I'll see if I can reproduce the bug here. Make sure to tell me in the e-mail what I'm looking for, as it's just going to waste my time if I get an e-mail with a save game and no description of the bug and I have to e-mail you to ask what the b

It looks like all the files didn't get installed properly. Try un-installing Twilgiht, reboot, then make sure that the Twilight folde was completely removed. If not, delete it. Save games from 1.96 and earlier won't work anyway, so delete your My Documents\My Games\GC2TwilightArnor folder to clear that out too. Then re-install the Twilight beta.
I think the point he is making is that part of "working on it" should be doing journals.
I'm sorry that we're not keeping you informed, but we've got a lot going on here right now and Scott (boogiebac) and I are each doing the work of 3-4 people, and normally we'd be the ones keep you guys informed. Not to mention how busy Brad is! As Brad mentioned in another thread, we are looking to hire people, but we actually don't have any room to put them until w
Yes, but what about TPM2k4? Or do you plan to stop supporting a game you are still selling on Impulse?
Ummm...I think that you just change the server address to be an IP address on your LAN for the first Political Machine. It's been awhile.

It sounds like your wife's version may not have updated correctly. In version 1.50, there is no longer a LAN Checkbox but you have to click on the LAN button on the login screen to play a LAN game.

Hmm...there was a bug at one point with the translation code for minor races, but I fixed that and if they used the correct exe, it shouldn't have been an issue. It could be something in the minor races' configs. Can you please zip your Twilight\Data\German folder so that I can compare it to the last version I was testing with? Send it to [email protected]

For those of you not using the beta of 2.0, you may find this helpful. I fixed some bugs prior to 2.0 but it never went up as an update because the fixes were in 2.0, which was supposed to be the next update. However, 2.0 is not compatible with older save games because of some of the changes that had to be made to the save game code. I had to make a 1.97 build for foreign versions, so I'm going to put it up as a link. I can't put it up as an of

Well, if you're on a LAN, it should be using your local IP addresses. When you hit the LAN button, it will automatically fill the server address with your local IP address unless you have previously joined a game on the LAN, and it will use the last address. But the person hosting the game will always have their IP address in the server field. For joining a game, have the person hosting the game tell you the IP address and enter it in the server field on your machine.&

Intel lists your card as having Pixel Shader 2.0 support, so your video card should be fine, but if there are newer drivers for your card, that might help get you better performance as your current drivers are from 2006. You may also want to install the drivers for your monitor as you're currently only using the generic ones now and Vista doesn't do as well with the generic monitor drivers. Did you install any software or updates to software, or drivers since the last time that

It usually means that your data files were not updated/installed correctly, possibly because a file was locked by the OS. Are you playing Express or the full version? If it's Express, you should try re-installing. If you're playing the full version, try rebooting. If that doesn't fix the problem, you can edit the registry to force Impulse to re-download the update. In XP, go to Start->Run and type regedit. In Vista, type regedit in the sear
Hello, I just wanted to report that because the Multiplayer Login screen only accepts 12 character passwords I can't join.
That's odd. I could swear that the Impulse team told me that 12 was the password character limit. You might be able to work around it by passing your account information as a command line parameter. Right click on The Political Machine 2008 in Impulse and choose Open Application Folder. Right click on PolMachine2008
Problem is, my ideas tend to be a bit too ambhitious - I want to create something big, then some time down the road realize I'd need a small army to finish it. . . . and sometimes I don't have any good ideas at all . Writer's block you might say.
As I was telling people at Dragon*Con over Labor Day weekend, it's ok to have big ideas, just start with something manageable, like the first level of a game, and make that level feature complete. But before yo
