and my birthday. Did anyone else remember how in Commander Keen IV you could play pong from Commander Keen's wristpad? That was a neat little touch. I used to play it when I was getting frustrated with the main game.

Also, you can set it to run in a window that's the size of your primary monitor. So it'll be like fullscreen except that edge scrolling may not work.

Most of that we were already planning on correcting. We're still working on that screen, among others. I'll have to look at the scrollbar though, I thought that it was working peroperly. As for the queue, I remember discussing it but not why it wasn't included. I'm interested in how many people would like a research queue.

I would suggest uninstalling your drivers, rebooting your computer, install the latest version, and then reboot again. This should make sure that you have the latest drivers properly installed. Although NVidia no longer requires you to uninstall the old driver before updating, it generally works best if you do. The debug.err reports the information directly from dxdiag so if it's reporting the old driver version, then that's a good indication that the old drivers weren't properly

If you don't have SmartException, you can get it here: https://www.stardock.com/products/SmartException Sorry that I didn't manage to fix the save games for this update. It only happens when not running in the debugger, so I have to debug it using only SmartException and debug messages, which takes longer than if it would oblige by crashing in the debugger.

Hmmm....do you have anti-aliasing on? You could try turning it off. If that doesn't work, you might have to try re-installing it.

Probably that's one of the aliens that didn't have a race logo. They will all have logos in the next update. It looks like you're having problems with the texture coordinates though...try opening your prefs.ini and setting fullscreen=0 before you run the beta again and see if it makes a difference.

You know what, it's in poor taste and bad practice to contradict the developers who have the source code right in front of them.

Also, here is a link to a site that was helpful to people with Mobility cards in the Political Machine beta: http://www.omegadrivers.net/ I found this page via google today, is this newer than what you have for your Savage? http://drivers.soft32.com/driver/download-S3_Graphics_Savage_MX_IX_IX_PCI-24034.html <P

Hmm...the code that updates the planet overlay doesn't specifically check for population, but maybe something indirectly affects it.

Hmm...a campaign tutorial probably wouldn't be that hard to implement. We've been talking about having a tutorial mode using the info icons, but having it be as part of a campaign would make it more certain to guide the user through certain things. I'll add it to the suggestions list.

Hmmm...I wonder if it's the influence code that is causing the crash. I'll take a look into it. rbowett's debug.err file certainly is interesting. Those messages about posting the close message should only be called if you hit a quit button. I'm adding debug messages to the callbacks so that we can see what is closing GC2, and I'll have to look into the memory leaks.

Intel integrated video cards 82815 and 82810E do not support DirectX 9 and as such you will not be able to see the text in Gal Civ 2 if you have one of these cards. We ran into this problem with The Political Machine, but it is a driver problem and Intel is no longer upgrading those drivers. If your computer has room, you can install a newer video card and make it your primary video card. You can find good video cards for $50

If you want to run in windowed mode, you can use notepad to open prefs.ini and set fullscreen=0 under [Video]. That will allow you to use Alt-tab.
