If you don't know how to run in windowed mode, the easiest way is generally to use a shortcut. 1) Use Windows Explorer to find GalCiv.exe. 2) Right click on GalCiv.exe and choose create shortcut. 3) Right click on the shortcut and choose properties. 4) Click in the target field and hit end. Hit Space followed by a w.

My sister has been signed up with e-Harmony for over a year and she's been talking with this one guy, Richard, for awhile. He came from New York to visit this weekend (he's staying at a nearby hotel) and so my sister and I invited over our closest friends to meet him. The general consensus is that Richard is a nice guy and that not running screaming from the house is

Our first goal in the development phase of Gal Civ 2 is to have Gal Civ 1's functionality working with the 3D engine. While Joe was working on upgrading the engine that we created for Political Machine, I began cleaning up our code library Pear and continued my work from Political Machine of converting it to use 3D code. It's now much lighter, more flexible, and gen

Also, you can bring up the tactical map from the planet list (there's a button at the top) which creates a larger version of the minimap, if that's helpful to you. It can be particularly useful when used with either the planet list or star list when working on a empire wide scale like deploying constructors or changing social projects.

Trapper101, that problem is usually do to sound problems. If you're still running the retail version, try updating Gal Civ as the sound code changed at version 1.03. Try updating your sound drivers and following the other suggestions in the sound troubleshooting thread. If you still have problems, you can e-mail me at [email protected]

Double click on the colony ship to launch it, or click the launch button. This brings up a little dialog with a slider. As you move the slider to the right, it increases the number of colonists on the ship. Make sure that you leave some people on the planet. :)

Hi, I don't know if you're the person who e-mailed me, but if you're not, check the date on your drivers. If It's before 2002, it came out before DirectX 9 was released which would mean that they wouldn't have any support for DirectX 9. DXdiag can verify if your card will support 3D. Here are instructions for running dxdiag in case you need them: 1) Click on your windows start button 2) Click on Run 3) type the word

Technician, when you create a new map, do you go to file->new as soon as you open the map editor? Even though it looks as if it's already created a new map, it hasn't really initialized everything. The File->new does actually create a new map and then you should be fine after that. Also, make sure that you stay under 1000 planets. :)
After installing quite a few mods, I decided to begin playing GalCiv Alterian Prophecy. After I completed my first turn the game cut to an action screen of my civilization being completely destroyed and the game ended. Can someone tell me what the problem is or how I can fix this? Thanks.
If you're using the spiral galaxy mod it has more planets than Gal Civ can currently handle due to a bug. Space_Man_1: have you noticed this with the original races

My friend Ryan is trying to start up a D & D campaign, and I'm looking forward to that. So far, my only experience with D & D has been with computer games. I have slightly more experience with Werewolf and Mage, two White Wolf games that use D10s. Unfortunately, it's hard for me and my friends to all pick one day that everyone can make when we'll have enough time for a full session.

RaptorRed: I think that the 1.51 version of AP has a fix for the Terror star crash, but maybe the fix didn't make it into 1.21. I'm working on an update for both Gal Civ 1.21 and AP in my spare work time, so I can't give you a date of when it would be available.

It turns out that the spiral galaxy mod has a lot more planets than typical gigantic games and so it exposed a bug in Gal Civ's code where it doesn't check more than 1000 planets.
And btw; trick or treating with houses that have lights on is ... not all that good. More or less houses with decorations would be better to go to.
Around here, the general rule is if you have your porch light on, you're handing out candy, regardless of how many decorations that you've put out.

Hmm....maybe I was thinking of Of the Mithrilar. I just checked the Darkness on Altaria map again and you're right, there isn't a chain of planets. Similar concept anyway, only you have to increase your range with starbases. [Message Edited] [Message Edited]
