Umm...you should be able to find it from either. The default is something like c:\program files\stardock\total gaming.net\AltarianProphecy\ for the main install folder for Altarian Prophecy, then you navigate to the data folder, then custom maps or Campaigns.

Well if you can figure out which file extension is a video codec, you could do a search on your computer and then start unregistering them and then re-registering them, starting with any that aren't in the windows system32 folder. If you have the Nimo codec pack for Winamp, I recommend uninstalling it completely because it causes problems with the audio codecs too. To unregister a file, go to a c
Umm....I think that we took that out for Altarian Prophecy and Gal Civ 1.21 because that minimap gave away too much tactical information. I think now you can only see the trade routes that the aliens have with you.
Do you have User Defined Playlist on? If so, turn it off. You only need that turned off if you're using a playlist that you created.
Well depending on what difficulty level you're playing on, it's actually fairly easy to beat compared to some of the other levels. If I remember correctly, I beat it by colonizing the planets in a chain towards the Drath, and just kept moving my fleet of ships that I got at the beginning higher up. The planets behind the front I had producing the constructors which I used to grab the resources. I don't remember if I even had to build more transports or attack ships.
Hmm...never heard of that one before. Luckily, google has. I found a link to a microsoft support page that should help you: Link

Once you have your port open, run Political Machine and then click on Join Multiplayer game. Enter in a player name, and hit the refresh button. This will connect you to the server and list any games that have been created. It will also list any players who are currently connected to the server in the chat list. You can create your own multiplayer game from this screen as well; just click on the create button and set up the game. You'll still be ab
I've seen them on occasionally. You could try posting a note here to schedule a time to play with someone. I think that a lot of people are having trouble after having installed SP2 for Windows XP, because Windows XP closes the port that Politcal Machine uses when SP2 is installed.
Ok, you're probably going to have to download and install drivers for your video card at Link before Political Machine will work.
Yes, the periods would cause problems. It probably saved the file as GeorgeH.W.Bush.Candidate, so it probably doesn't recognize it as a candidate file.
Do you click the refresh list button? You don't actually connect to the server until you hit the refresh list button.
What version of DirectX do you have? You need DirectX 9.0b or c. What kind of video card do you have and do you have the latest drivers for your video card? What operating system are you using? If you are using Windows XP, you must have Service Pack 1 installed.
LOL! I just about spit out a mouthful of water when I read your post, Evil Roy. :)
Chancellor, are you using the version right off the CD or did you update with the 1.02 patch? If you do not have the 1.02 patch, please go to the downloads section on this page and get it. I looked for it at Target when took my niece shopping in Atlanta, but I didn't see any, so I was disappointed.
Well, if programmers put the font information in a configuration file of some sort, users could easily modify the text in the games simply by changing the name of the typeface, etc, in the file.
Brad recently received an e-mail from a user who had read the postmortem for The Poltiical Machine on Gamasutra Link Hi Brad, I just read your article in Gamasutra and found it pretty interesting. Sounds like the Political Machine was a fun project to work on. In discussin
ProudCanadian, if you do a search on dart*.dll, does it find any files? Can you please use SDC to archive your existing installation, then upgrade, run AP, and send me the debug.err file if it crashes again? Fragger Type XP, did you install the mods to the data directory or the mods data directory? If you did not put them in a mods folder, Gal Civ would still be reading the mods files in. Did any of the mods have graphic files that came with them? Did you try any of the sug
When you go to create a new map, are you selecting New from the file menu, or trying to start placing objects immediately? You do always need to select new when creating a new map, otherwise it doesn't initialize the map.
Thanks, John. If you have any suggestions for improving campaigns in Gal Civ 2, you can e-mail me at [email protected] with Gal Civ 2 suggestions in the subject.
I'll let Pat know.
Are you playing with a scenario or a custom map? Are you playing the campaign?
Also, make sure that you're running in at least 1024x768. You could also try running in windowed mode, but for that your desktop will need to be set to 16 bit color. If you don't know how to run in windowed mode, the easiest way is generally to use a shortcut. 1) Use Windows Explorer to find GalCiv.exe. 2) Right click on GalCiv.exe and choose create shortcut. 3) Right click on the shortcut and choose properties. 4) Click in the target field and hit end.
Generally the error you are describing is caused by improper characters in the custom candidate's names. If you created them with the 1.02 patch, it should have replaced the nonalphanumeric characters with an underscore character in the places where it causes the error to happen. Otherwise, you would have to do it yourself. The filename and the header of the custom candidate file should match, and neither should contain nonalphanumeric chara
