BroadwayBoy87, if you have a Intel 82815 or Intel 82810E integrated video card, there's nothing that we can do as their drivers do not support DirectX 9.0 and Intel has informed us that they will not be updating their drivers. If you have another kind of video card, please check the manufacturer's website for updated drivers.

People with the Intel integrated video cards 82815 and 82810E have experienced the following problems with The Political Machine: 1) With version 1.0 and 1.01, they get a Failed to Initialize Display error. 2) With version 1.02, they can load Political Machine, but there is no text. Actually, it's the prefs.ini file. Political Machine would have to be failing pretty early to not generate the prefs.ini file, but if you can't find it, here are instructions for creating a shortcut with a commandline parameter: 1) Use Windows Explorer to find PolMachine.exe. 2) Right click on PolMachine.exe and choose create shortcut. 3) Right click on the shortcut and choose properties. 4) Click in the target field and hit end.

Did you get this error double clicking on the file to open it (which I don't think really works) or opening it from the file menu in the editor?
