Hello, long time no see. Guess development has left the "leave us hanging perpetually" stage and entered the "getting shit done" stage? I made a post "informing" someone of the game on the steam forums which was evidently completely wrong/incomplete/ambiguous. Someone also evidently thought I was a developer, so there's that. This was based on my own lack of understanding of the game's current and future state, and for that I would like to apologize to that person and the devs

Yay! The game needs diplomacy or it's just a husk of its potential.
SO MANY WINKY FACES. DARCA STAHP. But otherwise the beta is pretty good, bit... off though.

That's just the texture for the "shielded" bonus.
Repost of what I said in another thread;
The population pressure is far too heavy as-is. It should be lowered greatly. It was excusable, barely, in GC2 where approval was just a pop growth modifier and the number of people you had on a planet was largely irrelevant to production, but now that population is the determining factor punishing us for having too much so excessively is really pushing it.
I would suggest lowering the malus incurred from having m

The Few, the Proud, the Elite Founders. One day, there will be few of us to many others, and we'll be able to mock all the kids you bought it later and lord our obvious superiority over them. We are the 1%! #NeverForget
We have access to a special part of this site called "The Founder's Vault", where we get to see declassified documents, read-me files, dev reports, pictures, wallpapers, music etc... It's a neat perk, but it's not a reason to buy the package itself.
GLORIOUS. I had thought the "130 AI on a big-ass map" was just some idle boasting, I'm so happy to see I was wrong. I'm looking forwards to this very much! Also, owning the highest-rated steam review, I may just change my score to "recommended" :3
DARCA, what are you? A casual? Seriously though, I'd like a black market like in Sins of a Solar Empire, where you can buy (small) amounts of strategic resources for a steep price. It's have to be balanced very carefully.
Hexes look sci-fi, squares look dorky. That's really the long and short here folks.
Wow. That's so transparently evil and selfish I wonder how it was even considered for the court.

One thing; Moving diagonally on a square grid as opposed to a hexagonal one gives the unit in question more effective movement than one who travels in the direction of the faces of the square. This is an "exploit" of the game's hardcoded limitations, and it gives the player who abuses this quite an advantage. Everything else is just gravy really. Also, I think it looks cooler with Hexagons :3
Simple error, required exiting to desktop with Control + Alt + Delete. Planet screen doesn't allow for you to exit, either through the regular "done" button or the escape key. Occasionally pressing escape brought me to the shipyard screen for a moment. Unfortunately there wasn't a crash, so I can't provide a crash report, so this is just a heads up! :D
wait, first you wanted to merely make the planet uninhabitable by destroying the surface and burning off the atmosphere, now you want to liquefy the entire thing? big difference in how determined you are there man. Liquefaction seems a interesting concept, as it would require close to the amount of energy needed to blow up the planet, but delivered over a much longer period of time. Is it even possible
I found it. It's on page 27 (Planets and Colonies): "Tiles with yellow borders require certain technologies before they're available for use, at which point their borders will turn orange." No wonder I couldn't remember this. It's been over eight years since I've read the original manual. Still, I know that manuals can become quickly outdated once patches get released, but that line wasn't even true w
Must have been in the beta, because I don't remember anything like that from the release version. Or did you perhaps mean that, once you've finished researching Soil Enhancement, the orange Habitat Improvement tiles appeared on your planets?
I dug out my old GC2 manual and found the passage I was referring to, paraphrased (I lost it again lol); "Certain technologies are capable of taking y
wonder if the engine can support other map shapes then hexagonal, specifically long but narrow rectangles, for this idea to work better.
It can; you'll be able to set parameters for map sizes this time around :D
To be perfectly honest, I would rather not have the Arid tiles turn green when the right terraforming tech is researched. Why? Because they provide a bonus to research improvements built upon them, and if they turn green when I research the right terraforming tech I have to click through all the tiles to find these, just like with all the other tiles that have bonuses. I really wish they'd color-code all the tiles that have any kind of
