Development on XCOM: EU started in 2008 with a big team and was released in 2012. Kickstarter wasn't founded until 2009, and didn't really get big until what, 2011? It got really big in 2012. Even today, the number of Kickstarter games that have raised budgets capable of supporting a team that size is extremely small. It takes millions to make a game like that.
Planetary Annihilation was funded by Kickstarter

I think it would greatly destabilize the game if GCII is any guide; a late-game civilization who pursued this option would have more power in a single solar system than every other race in the entirety of their civilization. When you factor in that the completion of one would ease the construction of others... It would be cool as a 1-per civilization project, or as a victory condition though. :3
I like it, it makes me feel warm and fuzzy on the inside. :D
"Internal server error" Ahhhhhhhhh! No! lol
While I'm pretty much an amorphous blob of excitement, I'm very disappointed the single production que . There should be two; one for ships, one for improvements.
Are you two forgetting that ships in GC2 did repair themselves -- slowly if in space and not so slow when in orbit of a planet. Also there was a module that could be added to a starbase that increased the repair rate for ships. But, what was that repair rate based on? I don't have the answer to that question, but I suspect that the experience level of the ship's crew (which is what the experience level must really repre

And they would also like to feel all-powerful. Bioengineering their own custom race would solve both problems. The Thalans are insectoid. Insects work, and work hard. Now. Suppose the Terran "Crusade" keeps the Drengin from conquering the universe. The Thalans would be erased from history. They would

Well, AI's in the game will have the option to "harvest" strategies and ships from Human players, so if a Human would rip your throat out for something, it's a fair expectation to have the AI do the same. :D
It's been mentioned that there may be pre-battle orders that you dole out, but little else is known. It also remains to be seen whether there will be "Antifighter" weapons like you describe, but since accuracy is now a thing, I suppose it could factor in. I also hope that this is handled well; I don't want tactical combat, but I want my ships to be semi-competent.

I'm supposedly the ruler of a galactic empire that can build as many ships (and, to a lesser extent, starbases) as my economy can support - or, for that matter, more, since the game allows you to operate in the red. If I want to screw over my economy to support a fleet of nothing but enormous battleships, then the game mechanics had better allow me to do so. They can punish me for doing so, but th

SO MANY LIES IN THIS THREAD. lol But seriously, there's no confirmation of heroes in the game, let alone specific roles for them to fill. It's been said by Brad that they probably won't be in the first release of the game, perhaps never.
