Again, Tridus, you are coloring this with your own personal play style. You should never assume that everyone else enjoys the same play style. It varies widely from person to person. I'm intrigued by the idea of having mutually-exclusive research tasks, but I'm not sure if you should be completely locked out of, say, weapons tech. Maybe have it so that there are separate branches, with "non-specialized" branches being weaker than if you chose the opposing "specialized" path? For instance, if you specialize in weaponry, you get pulse lasers which do 2 damage at 100 cost, while someone who doesn't gets particle lasers which do 1

But how can you witness the destruction of something and set yourself a goal to prevent it, and do what Thalans did, supposedly time travelling and orchestrating plans to create a time paradox(going back to change their future), if you haven't actually survived? I think you misread something. The
Not saying I disagree (I don't, the idea sounds great!), but unless each "ship" we build represents dozens of actual vessels, getting hundreds of vessels together is going to be a real bitch on any map size smaller than huge, or in any appreciable length of time. That being said, I would like for my aforementioned idea to be execute; have each "ship" represent a fleet of vessels its class.
What you'll have here is if you have support ships in your fleet you'll be able to set up some battle options before the fleet battle begins. its hard to describe, it's a bit magic the gathering (select what you want to do at the start). but you won't be controlling the ships directly. The problem is that people would feel forced to micro manage their battles in order to get an optimal result.
ala&
Maybe nobody has said it in this thread, but people have said it. The phrase "shoot-em-up" is kind of a joke around here because of that sentiment. It's pretty silly. Games like AoW 2 are clearly strategy games, despite having tactical battles. MoO 2 is clearly a strategy game. Civ V is clearly a strategy game. There's lots of ways to do this and still wind up with a strategy game. Saying it'll make it i
Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. There is some truth in this at a superficial level, once the number of programs running exceeds a threshold (and this can be a very arbitrary threshold). In Actuality, the computer does not slow down. It just has more work to do, and the programs may be competing for the same resources and that will slow down the apparent rate at which programs will complete their tasks.<br
If I had a nickel for every tactical battle thread... OT; I don't want to sound like a holier-than-thou jackass, but I don't think you know why people like this game. Tactics are a very small part of the series, the main emphasis being placed upon grand strategy and management, alongside planning and inter-player interaction. Honestly, this is why I like GC2 over every other TBS, and why I paid a hundred freaking dollars for the third one without even se
I've not had the privilege of playing this game, though I've hear a lot about it. Since this is the "Wrap-up" DLC and is standalone, will it include the content of the previous game and expansions? Hey! :D So the alpha is coming out soon, and that's a good thing. I'm almost trembling with anticipation honestly, but there is one problem. Presumably, Stardock is releasing the alpha to the public so the really dedicated/gullible Galactic Civilizations fans such as myself can tear the game to shreds and point out its every flaw in minute detail and suggest improvements. This will produce, ultimately, a damn fine game if I have anything to say about it (which I do, an
