ME3 was released in 2012, so I doubt your coworkers talking about it. Though I knew people who think that way. But they liked Dragon Age 2 or Justin Bieber (whoever it is).
Mass Effect 3 was a work of art! How dare you belittle my game! /feigned anger Seriously though, the emotional writing in that game had me by the balls

As the two above me said, wait for a Steam Sale and try out Galactic Civilizations 2. Make sure you play Twilight of the Arnor, as it is by-and-large the best version. But to answer a few of your questions;
I've tried only one other space 4x Game and that is Endless space. I felt that the game felt rigid, traveling using space lanes in endless space felt really awkward in the sense there was no way to intercept ships without staying in orbit around a planet. P

Damn Stardock! You dangle the promise of answers in front of my face like car keys in front of a dog, then you take them away! GIVE US SOMETHING!
I have followed the instructions in both posts of this thread and so far have yet to see my avatar show up. I checked to make sure the pixel and size limitations were met, and the picture shows up in my account data and from "view Lucky Jack's Profile" from within this forum, and it shows up, but not on the avatar of my posts. And I have used the hard refresh (ctrl-f5) several times. What could be wrong? EDIT --- Oh gr
So like Master of Orion then? I like the idea. Keep in mind exponential growth in cost with a 5% interest rate would quickly become ridiculously expensive and basically impossible to maintain.

I'm inclined to agree, but I don't want it to become vapourware like certain games that shall not be named... <img src="data:image/jpeg;base64,/9j/4AAQSkZJRgABAQAAAQABAAD/2wCEAAkGBhQSERUUEhQWFRUWGBwYGRgXGBkcHBsdGBcaHxgYHB0cHicgHx8jHRoXHy8gIycpLCwsGh8xNTAqNSYrLCoBCQoKDgwOGg8PGiwkHyQsLSwvLywqLywtKiw0NCwsKSwsLCwsLCwsLC8sLCwsLCwsLCwvLCwsLCwsLCwsLCwpLP/AABEIAPkAywMBIgACEQEDEQH/xAAcAAACAwEBAQEAAAAAAAAAAAAFBgMEBwIAAQj/xABBEAACAQIEAwYDBwMDAgUFAAABAhEAAwQSITEFQVEGEyJhcYE
3. The Ship Creator needs a rethink on modules. Constraints should be focused on energy costs of operating the module, not on size. A power-hungry weapon may deplete energy to where shields and other components do not operate properly without adding more power generation. There would then be a power source for each ship whether it be fission, fusion, anti-matter, or zero-point energy. The more power-hungry a ship becomes, the more power generation
PC master race. JK lol, tell us how it goes.
So many questions! So few answers! RAWR
If they do it like Galactic Civilizations 2: Ultimate edition, that will mean that you can select the game you want to play from the file menu. Right now, I can go to my program files and launch either Dread Lords, Dark Avatar or Twilight of the Arnor at my discretion. Making the buttons more accessible (like on the startup menu) would be along the lines you're talking about.
In DA they were pretty common, but I've never seen anything under 4 in TA. The best part of the PQ1 planets (and why they were cut) is that the AI would not colonize them until every other available planet had been claimed. They frequently terraformed up to level 16, even 19 - and the AI just let the player have them.
I am/was playing the current version of TA. That being said, I've only ever seen one o
Don't forget Origin. I was genuinely depressed when EA aquired Bioware.
You're talking to a guy named "ParagonRenegade"; keep that in mind when you bring issues with EA to my attention ha.
No, not much to object to that. But soundtracks that rape the ears? Come on! C&C:TD & C&C:RA have excellent soundtracks.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OQeFvUuPNHc I dare you to find something better.
Limited by their input controllers? What? Keyboard and mouse? In twenty years, you'll say the same about current games.
How in depth will the new "Stellar topography" be? Will there be the suggested black holes, binary stars and the like? How many civilizations will be in the game (not counting custom races)?
I should mention EA is still notorious for telling people what they want to hear and not following through. I will actually believe teh offline patch if it comes out. But I have also stopped caring for the most part.
EA is a cancer. First they rush my beloved Mass Effect 3, then Dead Space, then Sim City then [insert every EA franchise]... And they ruined Spore! RAWR
That is simply not true. There are many older games that still outshine most newer games.
Didn't object to the rest of my post? ;) Older games, at best, have better puzzles and stories over modern games. Their soundtracks rape the ears, their gameplay is limited by their input controllers and their voice acting is very poor or non-existent. They have their definite fun factor (I still pl
It's not a silly reason or trifling issue. It's a feeling I have based on the experiences I've had as a kid. And it's a feeling that bugs me, so I wrote about it to get some feedback. There are plenty of older games (released on physical media) that I haven't played (yet) so it's not like I wouldn't have any games (that would be new for me) to play.
I never intended
This is a pretty trifling issue to cancel a pre-order over, don't you think? I won't rehash what the others have said, but I'll say it plain; basically everything in the future will be based off of digital download, as physical copies are simply not versatile or cheap enough to compete. If you cancel now, you'll be setting a precedent that will prevent you from enjoying things in the future (with a clear conscious) Just my 2 cents.
I remember the Dread Lords spawned in my galaxy, and after I stopped their reign of terror I found out that their planet "Amalda" was a native class 60. After I took control of it, my planet quality abilities and PQ improvements made every single tile available. I was beside myself with joy; I seriously have never seen anything like it since, maybe it was a bug? Then there was a time I found a planet with a PQ of 1, or a blue star with five "Purple water" habitable planets or that tim
Trying to calculate how much GC3 is going to need just for ships is also very short sighted. Ship designs need very little memory compared to how much memory is needed just for a segment of the galaxy, with all of the stuff that must be put in each tile, such as stars, planets, ships, resources, anomalies, path lines for trade routes and asteroid mine delivery routes, tile borders, etc. etc. And that isn't all that GC3 is going to have
