Also, my SDCentral Application keeps crashing! Should I avoid doing chat, discussion and DL all at once? I quit and let SDCentral update before i started. -Dave ~SDC~

Speed is pretty slow. I am goign between 56k/sec and 14k/sec, with occasion slows down to 4k/sec. This is on a 1.1 sDSL line. It's coming, though... :CONGRAT: -Dave ~SDC~
Brad stated in a psot earlier today or last night that the e-mails will start going out in the near future, so I wouldn't be concerned that you haven;t gotten it yet. -Dave ~SDC~
The AI could be set to manage this only at higher levels (or have to make a roll to determine whether or not it will manage them), making it just another way that the higher level AIs are more challenging. -Dave ~SDC~
Building additional starbases in a sector DEFINITELY increases the production bonuses in a sector. There is a cap based on the planet size (I think) that will prevent too much of a bonus. I find that three loaded starbases provide a tremendous boost to your main sectors. More than that greatly diminished your ROI. I'm pretty sure that military enhancements will work the same way, but I am only 90% sure of that. -Dave ~SDC~
Would it be possible to make a spending slider for each planet? For example, if I am located one side of a gigantic galaxy, and I am in the midst of conquering the Drengin on the other, I would like to have solid military produciton in the worls that I take. One the other hand, all of my planets on the other will spit out constructors every month. I still want those worlds to produce some untis, but I don't want to deal with 30 every turn. I thought that a fairly easy (?) way to impl
Any thought to adding additional resource types in post-launch versions? Maybe courage or range or trade or diplomacy resources? Just a thought... -Dave ~SDC~
I WISH! I've only played the Beta. My comments on the release version come from Brad's AAR and BonusPack screenshots -Dave ~SDC~
From my experience with the Beta, all starbase improvements are cumulative (although there is a cap for each planet), and will affect ALL ships in the sector, including starbases. Pay close attention though to the Starbase modules for defense, as some will add to all ships in the sector, and some only to that particular starbase's defense. I have not played a version with ship defense enhancing midules, but I am basing my statements on the fact that in the beta the repair module influenced the
russellmz was good enough to locate the original thread where BRad posted a breif synopsis of the backstory. See his "they all look alike...: thread! Thanks russellmz! ~SDC~
I should also mention here that the Diplomacy throughout the game adds so much FUN and addiitonal strategy elements. I have never played a TBS game that has this level of USEFUL diplomacy in it (and I have only played the Beta!) -Dave ~SDC~
Blade, how early you encounter alien races depends on quite a few factors, including: 1) What is the size of the galaxy you are playing? 2) How many AIs are you playing against? 3) Luck In the release version, I have seen there are other settings that can affect this as well, like Star Dispersement: How close together are all of the stars (like selecting land masses in Civ). You can a have a pretty good chance of meeting a minor race early on regardless of
Nice to see this has been fixed already. Well done! -Dave ~SDC~
Sorry, I realize that this is already being discussed in the New Version of SDC Thread. Feel free to delete this post. -Dave ~SDC~
I'm having the same problem. -Dave ~SDC~
Is anyone else who has upgraded having the problem that posts downloaded by this version do not stay marked read after you have read them? Posts that had already been read before I upgraded stay read, but new posts, regardless of whether or not there is a new message, will NOT STAY READ. I reset the list as soon as I upgraded, and everything else seems to be working fine. Anyone else? -Dave ~SDC~
Good idea!!! ~SDC~
The AI is VERY good at managing their financial resources. They will buy and lease units very early in the game, and then put 5 people (in game terms) on a colony ship (usually there no fewer than 50 or 60, and often upward of 1000) just to gain control of a system. If you work hard to manage resources you too can generate a lot of early units as well. As for defensive units, some AIs go after that technology VERY early, adn so cna build those units earlier than you. The advanced micro-manag
MasterMoO, not to re-start anything rancorous, but couldn't you get you company to justify paying for a home Internet Connection for you. Regardless of size, I am sure they would spend $5-$10 for a dial-up connection that would at least give you the option to play at home. If I have missed something that further explains why you wouldn't a connection at home, please tell me. -Dave ~SDC~
I still maintain that nothing needs to be changed to address this issue. The scores will balance out based on the time it takes to constantly save/reload. -Dave ~SDC~
Sorry to ask a question that was already answered. In my laziness, I usually now only open SDCentral, and don't visit the site as often as I should. -Dave ~SDC~
KiloOhm, to answer your question, it often seems like the AIs ships move together, based on which is the next selected unit. I am not sure, since I am palying the beta, but I have had, for example, a Grengin ship attack me, then an Altarian freighter arrive, and then another ship attack. If this is incorrect, and the AIs move in succession (ie, all Drengin ships move, then all Arceans, etc.), please let us know. -Dave ~SDC~
So no more submissions until we get the Release Version, correct? ~SDC~
I guess the time has come to ask many questions: When will we be able to download the game. As a beta tester who has already paid for everything, and has both Drengin.net and Stardock Central installed, will I be able to open one of these applications at midnight and download the game? Will I have to wait until the start of business, or jump through any additional hoops to start the download. If we can download immediately at midnight, will the bandwidth be there if I and the rest of the gee
