Wow, taking a planet is always by genocide? See, I didn't know that... oh what I could've known if only I'd had the Beta... I don't like that. But it does explain things, like why a large empire wouldn't fall apart... because everyone's your race.

Thanks Solitair, BoogieBac. I don't like that you can't yank the trade items from other civs to hurt their morale, but no game can be perfect until Frogboy's done with it.

The problem with some games with multiplayer is that without someone else to play against, it's not worth playing the game. The AI is so incompetent or so omnipotent that it's boring. GalCiv comes up with an interesting solution. Make competent AI that has a good chance of winning at the same time as you have a good chance of winning. This creates a game that is entertaining to play in single player mode. When your friend is over, play a fun multi player game, or a game like

Is the AI beatable for the below-average player at the below-average difficulty levels? If I attack a ship, is it Civ style where one just vanishes, or do I see then firing back and forth, or what's the animation for this? How does retreating work? Is it possible to play

Well, then, call a friend over and you can both sit down and have a GalCiv party. You play on one computer, he plays on the other. One tries to conquer the galaxy one way, the other person another way. See who does it faster. Or switch off every so often, so you can blame each other for your empire collapsing later. :P Or, if you only have one computer, have one person RP as the Head of State, the other as Head of Military. Head of Military makes movement decisions, colonizes, builds sta
