Look, Dearmad, no need to get snarky. We are all trying to understand the aspects of the game. This is just another one of them. /ds

Ahh, I was wondering how some people were creaming the designers' score by THOUSANDS. /ds
Dialog Approach to Diplomacy ---------------------------- The [Arceans|Altarians|...] are [influential|vulnerable|attacking my trade routes|...]. I need you to [declare war|proclaim peace|destabilize|covertly work together]. ... You get the idea. /ds
Has anyone else been given the impression that the space monsters make a straight route to the star base, planet, etc. that it "wants" to attack? Even with Eyes of the Galaxy, I have yet to see the thing wander aimlessly around. I saw it cross three empty sectors, in perfect direction, to attack a star base. /ds
It looks like the metaverse registration name can be different from your stardock name. What happens if you submitted a score in the game under a different name? Will it show up later if you register? (BTW, the game needs more feedback when submitting a metaverse score like -- invalid user, username doesn't match email (or serial), etc.) My other questions still apply. /ds
Howdy. I'm confused how all of the accounts/registrations interact. I would appreciate it if someone could clarify it for me. I register on the metaverse with a name and a serial number. What name is this? The name I want on the metaverse? The name registered under the account? When I finish a game, it asks for a name and an email address. What name do I use? The one I registered on the metaverse page? My stardock account? What about the email address? Is it t
I want those minor races to trade me the tech that improves a horrid planet rating (10) into a great one (20+). (I don't remember the numbers, but it was amazing.) /ds
UI Suggestion Under Government | Governors, when you select an item to add to the governor's queue, display the statistics of the item. This way, it is easier to choose what items should be build in what order based on cost, maintenance, and benefit. /ds
Yeah, I've stopped quitting the game and just minimize it to avoid that effect. But with the crashes, well, eventually I have to load. /ds
Is there a better way to manage propaganda than by going to each and every planet clicking on "Details" and then sliding the slider? /ds
I agree. This woefully needs to be fixed. It is a pain, too, when trying to help tech support fix problems when you have to "win" the game each time on a cultural victory. /ds
I've seen the case where: * I hit the turn button * A research completed screen popped up * I hit the turn button really quick The turn button changed into a little black dot I guess meaning "AI is thinking". It never changed back into the "Turn" button. However, after getting bored waiting (a minute maybe?) I clicked "Done" on the research screen and the turn button turned back to "Turn". /ds
Howdy. When can I stop pumping money into espionage? For example, in my last game I had "Advanced" level of espionage with all civs. Does putting more money into espionage a) maintain the level; b) increase it more; or c) something else? Thanks. /ds
I get duplicate "You have reached X level in espionage" messages for the same race. /ds
Well, if it is the SBLive!, I think most people will agree that there should be a fairly standard solution to the problem. I've had the card for about two years, played more than my share of games, and it has been flawless. Thanks. /ds
Your tech support (or developer) asked me to remove Colony_leaving.bik and give it a go. After 4 consecutive crashes on "new game creation", I removed the file and was able to start 4 consecutive new games without a problem. Note it also has crashed on me when I transition to the win screen. Bink issue? /ds
This has always happened to me, but I just now realized it. Even with this patch when my instant messanger makes a sound in the background, the game and Windows 98SE crashes. Yes, I'm using the SBLive! Value. This happened on the latest patch when I loaded an old game and was making a few moves. I don't know if that would have anything to do with it. As I have mentioned before, SmartException doesn't catch anything because my box goes down in flames. Cheers, /ds
I attempted to submit my game with no avail. Nothing happens when I hit the submit button. I wait a few minutes and then click the "down arrow" next to the username. It then kicks me back to the main menu. Win98SE / 1.01a GC / GeForce2 GTS / SBLive! Value Latest Drivers /ds
BTW, I realize that I may be able to get away with this on "normal", but I don't think it should be allowed. There's a difference between getting swindled in trading a tech (i.e., they pay you more than it is worth) versus funding your empire. After I finish this game I'll try it on "intelligent." /ds
I am the Ferengi Federation playing a medium-size galaxy with all normal opponents. I bumped trade and diplomacy and I am a member of the mercantile party. It is February 2187 and I'm in 1st place. My Trade and Diplomacy are both at +50%. I have 5 trade routes. My economy is as follows: SPENDING: 1034 bc/turn INCOME: 1047 bc/turn (66 tax; 754 tribute) My tax rate is 0% and my government spending is 100%. Note that while my tax rate is 0% I still get some tax bc. Seco
With the increasing volume in message board traffic, it is becoming hard to follow the threads. 1. Notification (via email) when new posts are added; thread subscription. 2. Editing posts. It looks like a perfect opportunity to be the first person to win the game on the "Genius" level. /ds
BTW, SmartException isn't catching anything because the computer dies so horribly that any running task also dies forcing power cycle.
Everytime I try to create a new game, medium, cluster, normal opponents with default alignments as a trading empire I get a crash after it finishes generating the world. I updated to the "pre-patch" DLL and .exe. I'm on Win98SE, Directx 9, GeForce2 GTS, and SBLive! Value w/ all drivers updated on 3/27/2003. I thought I read somewhere that GC wasn't going to be like other games where you had no control on events, but rather you are given the time to take appropriate and corrective action. Bullocks. /ds
