we just had this: a page or two back is the game of the month challenge. someone saved a game, put it out to be downloaded and people were playing it. there are different categories for alliance, tech wins, etc. official site http://galciv.reallyrules.com forum link http://www.galciv.com/forum.asp?BID=GF&ID=59314#62633 [Message Edited]
#4 by Senator CariElf - 5/27/2003 1:04:11 PM So would it be better to have an "Are You Sure" dialog when it takes a pretty obvious action to destroy the first colony, or a dialog that pops up afterwards that just says "Colony Gaia 4 has been destroyed"?
since the one time i clicked destroy colony was on purpose but did not realize it worked so i clicked again :D i think the "100,000,000 human colony has been annihilated. Have a nice day..." confirmation screen would be
(29/100)^51 .... +(29/100)^(50+n) + .... +(29/100)^100 29% chance per senator. chance of 51 senators + chance of 52 senators + chance of 53...plus chance of 100 senators. ie, pretty damn small?

i was finished in 2200 May or March. when i looked in my stats, the graphs went back ~270 months. how many turns is that? what's the conversion rate?
#85 by Citizen LawTard - 5/22/2003 2:23:34 AM Where can I find the AARs, by the way?
the organizers are asking people not to publicly show aars since that would spoil the competition by letting people see what did and didn't work. i read dikdirk's aar and he read mine since we finished our games so there are at least two ready for people when the competition is over.

test Can anyone explain how the quoting feature is supposed to work?
nm, i just read the apolyton thread on scoring. how do i tell how many turns a game took?
#80 by Citizen Ellestar - 5/21/2003 2:12:00 PM To dirkdirk: on your site you don't said that lower score is better. it is?????? how and why?
what political party did they choose? what race traits did they pick? how many +1% econ anomalies did they pick up? how many galactic cash resources? could these add up to the extra % they got?
50 years???? the allies were buddy buddy with the germans and japanese after only a few years and they went through a world war.
#18 by Avatar Frogboy - 5/20/2003 3:35:25 PM I think much of this boils down to: Ctrl-N is too powerful.I think one solution is not to wimp out Ctrl-N but rather keep how many times a player restarts their game in mind when doing scoring. If you get a great starting position, you can usually win against opponents who aren't cheating.
please leave it in. i rarely use it, but i don't want a feature i like removed just because some people abuse it. it would be like removing
a nice read dikdirk. there were a few parallels and a few places where we were opposites. hope you enjoy reading my aar. the format is similar since i copied some html from the gotm site to format my text.
i would like to see some weird games with conditions later on: one incredible good civ vs all subnormal evil civs. (human has to play as evil) random intelligences/alignments. etc... just to spice things up.
hmmm. i should set up the "loser empire", where people can safely submit their lost games without screwing up other empires...
interesting. when you sell "diplomatic translators" are you selling the license rights or the diplo translators themselves? ie, can you then sell diplo trans to other races?
"Don't be so proud of this technological terror you have constructed. The power to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the force." saw someone on usenet post it, i think it's funny enough to repeat.
Treblid, it might be easier to get help if you didn't trash a game most of the people here really like...anyway, if you build a freighter and send it to another empire's planet, it will make a trade route, unless you already have the max legal number set by united planets law. http://www.geocities.com/russellmz/FAQ.html the above link has some links to threads that help with morale and money i found. don't forget to use starbases and economic modules to increase the cash o
if i build that starbase module that does -1 movement, will it stop a terror star? what if the enemy builds a starbase with a +1 movement in the same sector? will a humorous race commence where two nations fill the sector with starbases trying to move/stop a terror star?
