Wombat force fed me some drugs yesterday saying I set back Ben's hard earned diplomatic relations by about a decade. So today I am calm and serene and full of good lovin'.... :D
weird. me and jaws both have beginner games in our record - and in the middle rather than at the start. mine was when i was testing ebz's guide. so maybe that skews it downward or something.
Dear Kit, Thank you for your kind words. I am sure I don't know what you mean though. I wouldn't play such tricksies. They are my friends. Everybody is my friends. I feel quite calm now.
Dear Hurley, I feel your pain brother. It is indeed a cruel world we live in. You say that the milo and the red wine has not helped. Have you tried both in the same glass. A wholesome glass of Milo goodness with 5% alcohol content can do wonders. If you do this, please ensure that you take a dump away from the Special Forces base. Or else I will be VERY... VERY.. ANGRY. I sincerely hope this helps you and that you feel better. Feel free to call upon my services anytime. <b
Hurley, Do you need a session with the Ship's Counsellor. I'm there for you buddy. :) JUST DON'T PUSH ME!!! >:(
A belated welcome to Nand, Goblin and Raj. Nice to have you onboard. If you have read through this thread you will see that all the SF crew have specialist positions. Ginata and Jaws command our capitol ships, leading many full frontal assaults against our respected foes. Wombie formulates tactics and calls the shots when sober. Ben has lead many succesful diplomatic missions. Killa regales us with tales of sex, debauchery, drinking and the occasional battle. I myself, have the
Hmpph. 1 million points isn't that impressive.... 1 millions points AND raising a 4 year old... that's miraculous! :CONGRAT: :CONGRAT: :CONGRAT: I had my 4yo god-daughter over a couple of weekends ago. Love her to death, but NO energy left for Galciv after that. How the hell do you do it? I was feeding her up on choccies and lollies the whole time though, so that probably didn't help. :) Anyway, great effort. Though your cool posts and strat tips mean alot more than you
Special Forces - your "Icon for a Day" empire. Got a logo suggestion? Send it to icantbelieveitsnotbutter.com
I know. I know! We just can't seem to decide on a logo. We originally REALLY REALLY wanted to have one of a kryponite green mattress spring, but you already bloody took that! :d
. Hey people - we're within sight of the wizards: no slacking off now!
I just submitted 3 games today - added 53K to my score but it didn't change the empire score. Would have pushed us ahead. bummer.
Welcome guys. Have fun :CONGRAT:
Original quote from J.R.R. Tolkien. (Apparantly changed by the publishers without his consent). "For Special Forces will have dominion over all life on this Earth, even until the ending of the world. The time of the elves is over. Do we leave Middle-Earth to this fate? Shit-yeah!" :) :) :) [Message Edited]
hang on, while we iz discussin', what be those horizontal brown lines....
they indicate the number of large pizzas you can eat whilst off ya face, before having to drive the porcelain truck. so they actually represent empty pizza boxes. your pizza/beer ratio is obviously very good!
Nicolas, Ray's table isn't completely accurate. The ranking is actually based on the ratio of the number of drinks consumed vs. the number of times you have thrown up. It should be fairly easy to get promoted through the ranks, but I have found each time I have gotten a promotion I can't quite remember what I did the night before to achieve it. It usually involves downing 10 or 11 beers and then telling Wild Wombat "I rooolly loves you's maaayte" and then re-deposting the pre
Remember you can also Save your game on the first turn. Enable cheats and then Press Ctrl-U (reveal the map) or Ctrl-Shift-S (research all techs inc. stellar cart) and then save that to another file and then reload your original game. You can then just refer back to your saved cheat game to see the map (including resources). I like the start of the game when you don't know what is out there - it's one of my favourite parts of 4x games. But occasionally I just feel lazy and do the above
Congrats to Fleet Admiral Wombat, from a lowly scum sucking Commodore. :CONGRAT:
come baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack jeff. we still az your special sheep.
:sniff!: That was supposed to be a secret between you, me and New Zealand!!!!!! Now all the old sheep jokes will start! ;p Q:How much is the price of lamb in New Zealand? A:About $40 an hour. Anyway, give Dolly a kiss and tell her I miss her. :HOT:
Was trying something a bit different yesterday. On maso, I set all the AIs to good. I then took all neutral random choices to keep my morality score at 50. About midway (or earlier?) through the game, all the AIs had alliances with each at least one other AI (because they are all good). I then allied myself with the weakest AI (as it's easiest and cheapest to get an alliance with a weak AI). The next random event I then took the evil option which pushes my morality rating below 50. Imm
Hey Evil Steve, Opted for Special Forces. Hope that's cool with you :) Just thought I'd do something different. Good to see you resurrected the Anzacs though and took them back into the top 10!!! I'll go trawling through the threads this evening and catch up on all the stuff that happened. Seems I've missed all the excitement.

Are you getting tired of life?
Almost was that way singing Swing Low Sweet Chariot on Sat day night, off my face in a St Kilda bar surrounded by lots of Aussies!!!
Hello again. (After a looong time!). Actually I am an ex-pom now happily living in Melbourne. So was cheering loud and hard and singing "Swing Low Sweet Charity" on the weekend. :CONGRAT: :CONGRAT: :CONGRAT: I am thinking of changing my nick to Jonny Wilkinson. Even though no-one outside of rugby playing countries will know who he is. I was almost going to join Jaws' Englad for the RWC Empire a few weeks back but decided not to in light of all the empire stuff going
I like the f/t scoring system. Not so much for the scoring itself, but like Wombat says - to compare tactics for fast wins etc. Not sure what to do about picks as everyone has their own preferences. I would suggest lots of different 1 ow 2 point race picks - so that we get small advantages across the board, rather than a massive bonus in one area. Also deliberately leave a couple of areas "unpicked" (eg social and military production) and then select a corresponding party to make up fo
What kind of time frame are you talking about?Would we download one game and need to be down within x amount of days or will we compare for a length of time.
I am the same. I am assuming that Vincible would post 2 games (one maso and one non-maso) for download a certain date each month. And then we would have up to 30 days to play it. Or maybe 20 days and then a 10 day period where we hop in a thread and discuss it. Would be interesting chatting to folks on here abou
Count me in Vincible. Especially if it's not Gigantic as I find those too much of a "chore" rather than fun. I am particularly interested in your "Who can win in the shortest time" statement, as that is one aspect that is not reflected in the scoring (to my knowledge). With the Civs, MOOs and SMAC there was a lot of debate and strats for fast wins, which I haven't seen much of here - if any. Would be interested in both the maso and non-maso games. So I think it would be
Gigantic is too much of a chore for me, and played enough Huge/Large games, so I am attempting a Single System Maso game. Playing Small/Common first up. I dropped my +Speed pick as it would be useless obviously. Went for Influence and Social/Military Production plus Economy. I cheated in that I Ctrl-Ned until I got a PQ20 Sol. No resources in my home sector unfortunately. My self imposed limitations are - can only colonise the Sol system. (ie if I happened to get an
