Or short: `The Coffee´. :) The points of the Coffee: -It only measures achievement. No nonsense. -Quality over quantity. -Totally simple. Everybody knows what to expect, all the time. The rules: \Including explanation for each. Lose: Coffee = 0 \I could give you a negative score if you prefer that. Win at any difficulty below Normal: Coffee = 50; *NO BONUS* \And I am feeling generous here. Win at Normal and above: Coffee

The scoring formula should *only* measure player efficiency at winning. Irrelevant in-game statistics should have no part in it all. That´s the basic mistake made. Perhaps it is not entirely clear what I am driving at. So I will devise a scoring formula of my own, as my personal contribution to Galciv, though the chance of Stardock adopting it probably = snowball in hell. ;p

Just found out Staffa is #1 now! Congratulations!! :CONGRAT: Adding to that, I propose to promote Staffa to Senator, for the following outstanding achievements: -Winning 5 games on Masochistic -Contributing 22.000 points to our cause -Ingeniously proving the whackiness of the current scoring system :D

Frogboy: "When we were designing the metaverse, one thing we didn't take into account is the sheer volume of cheese." Much as I dislike cheese, this would have been the very first thing for me to expect. Where have you spent your life? :p LOL ;) :) "If you're looking for more variety, use the Ctrl-N feature to bring up more intresting maps rather than just getting the one where all the stars are around you and the AI is isolated." I agree. You could use ctrl-N to

I prefer the Battleaxe as a defender. But on small maps, I don´t always want to wait for the Battleship to go over to the offense, and I do build Battlehammers in that case. The Battlehammer may well be useless on gigantic maps, but it´s useful on small ones. I find the Battlecruisers, Starhawks and Phoenixes really useless, though. Simply bad-value-for-money. :notsure:

I'd kill for 50%. We're not complaining about not going over 50 constantly. we're complaining about way below 50 AFTER building every improvement and MINING morale resources and relying on sending colonists into space as fast as colony ships and transports can be built. I simply don´t understand that. I have played on difficulties from average to crippling and never had any problems with morale. Try not doing anything that is really weird. ;)

"The reason the PQ +10 and +15 was removed? Most people were choosing those for their pics." Could have been gleaned from the forum as well. And I still can´t see how the Metaverse is supposed to improve the Ai in a meaningful way. To adress Ai tactical and long-term strategic (diplomacy!) weaknesses, your submission would have to include the entire replay. And no one in either the Universe or the Metaverse would have the time to analyze all those replays.

"This is the beginning of the end. The Viking Federation have decided to take over the galaxy." If you tried any such thing, that would be the beginning of the end for the Viking Federation. :D I advise against such folly. Join G.R.O.S.S. instead.

"Ryan, if the goal of the metaverse is to compete with other players, I think you have a point. If the goal is to see how players are playing the game to sharpen the AI and to address game balance, it's fine." The problem is, it doesn´t achieve either of these goals. The scoring system is way too screwed for a real competition, and the Metaverse doesn´t allow me to see what other players do, either. And I doubt very much that the Metaverse input has done anythin

I hope that we get this much hyped metaverse feature turned on where we can download the strategies used by players into the game AI and play it. Count me in. At least the Metaverse could give some information about what a player actually did. Currently it´s not much more than a (very basic) Hall of Fame which you have to go online to even watch. :notsure:

Now I'd like to see them change 3 things that I think are totally advantage human. 1. Buying (leasing) wonders and trade goods. Make those items unable to be purchased. Admittedly, I purchase em. 2. The 100% solution. Introduce diminishing returns. ie wastage when you put sliders to a high level. 3. Multi-Starbases per sector. Nerf em entirely. Indeed I won't use em. Doesn't have much realism for me. 1. That, or let Ais buy them, too. (Would make things hellishly dif

A step in the right direction. But it would be better to evaluate the starting position, the score being achievements/start position value. Otherwise, you will end up giving an advantage to players who simply get lucky, or restart a game instead of using ctrl-N. Much as you or I may dislike it, but some people will go a long way for a good-looking score, and discouraging the milkers is not as easy as you think. :D
