Za H: If you have your facts correct, I think *both* items should be adressed. No Ai should be intentionally weak at anything; and, of course, they should finish you off if *you* are weak, not wait for you achieving a tech victory. :(

Hmm, weird; my impression (1,03 patch; painful) is that I got a fair deal from the Majors and rather too good a deal from the Minors. But I had +70% Diplomacy, so the explanation for bad deals may be a Diplo disadvantage?! Never underestimate the power of Diplomacy! :)

(Technician:) "I would say though that if I played at smaller maps it would make much more sense to increase the difficulty level." Technician, (sigh), you should occasionally play a more difficult map. Then you would realize that the smaller maps are (at same difficulty level) not easier. If anything, they are more unforgiving; on larger maps, you have more time to correct mistakes.

"BTW, in 1.04, which is in beta now on Drengin.net, all 3 issues mentioned above are addressed. difficulty levels matter more, size of map matters somewhat less (bigger maps still help though), and overall scores are higher." Frogboy: I am very glad to hear that, and looking forward to the patch! (To be totally honest, I thought you would in time address those things, but whining a little about one´s pet issues is often good strategy. :) :) )

(Technician:) "Think you should get 5000 points for a game that lasts a few hours ?" No, I think YOU shouldn´t get 4.000pts for a game at Beginner Level. ;) Nothing personal, but that´s simply unfair to the really good players.

"Have the scores be divided purely by the # of games and you'll ahve people ticked off that a person who invests 5 good games into the metaverse is #1. Have it purely additive and then it's just the guy with the most time to spend. We took a happy medium." Frogboy: You have a point with the #games issue. I understand that that is difficult to solve. However, that is not my point at all. Rather, 3 other things: 1- Difficulty counts for too lit

"Congrats to the mid-Western empire on their 15 minutes of fame reaching #10." LOL LOL Nice to see we have increased our space on the Galactic Map. Welcome, Icemole! Short update: About 10 years into the game, Drengins got uppity. So I built a large fleet and joined the Torian war against them. Billions of the ugly, hairy monsters lost their life when I destroyed a large transport convoy. Now a Terran fleet of ~30 spaceships (Frigates, Battlecruisers, Corvettes, Tra

"As long as the rules are clear, everyone should just play by it." But the rules aren´t clear. >:( And the score formula changes with every update, usually resulting in lower scores, meaning gamers that joined later are screwed. >:( >:(

"Still, the metaverse has a role, which is to submit strategies, that allow the developers to see how to improve the game." This particular aspect will never work. LOL I know some of my own decisions are so complex motivated that I would have a hard time even explaining them. Never could just a few numbers submitted allow anyone to see what I was doing. To really see what I was up to, you would have to watch the entire game, turn by turn. It´s all in the details. You

Crichton, you have lots of good points. The Metaverse is a sports competition, and what a sports competition needs is clear rules (and same rules for everybody -currently rules are totally stacked against new players!). The Metaverse is very, very flawed. A good idea, but it doesn´t work. (:(

"They are going to eventually redo all the scores so everyone's even." What does "eventually" mean, in this case? A week? A month? Some time after the expansion? :( Perhaps they *should* get rid of the Metaverse, after all. These inflated, old scores for simple games that no one can compete with are not any more funny. Not remotely. >:(

Update of my current game: Going very well, nearly a bit too easy so far. I control 1/3 of the map, have made a few *EXTREMELY* lucrative deals, and I have no enemies. All the while, I am secretly funding the weaker side in every war, making them indecisively drag on, weakening all who are participating. :)

I believe you should simply divide pop score/mapsize, so the inflated pop scores for large maps come down to a normal level. Maybe a simpler solution. Perhaps some other parts of the score need to be divided by mapsize as well, depends on the equation. I can even live with smaller maps giving a somewhat smaller score, but currently they add *nothing* (compared to gigantic maps). What tickles me most about this is that difficulty is irrelevant. Even a masochistic game on Tiny gi

Eliminate Espionage/Subversion as it stands. Instead, make individual Spy Ships. Send them to an Alien Planet. Everybody always may attack/kill a Spy, even if not at war. There you have a use for Starfighters. :) When a Spy successfully infiltrates, there could be a little menu with options (similar to invasion menu), this could include blowing things up, collecting Empire info, stealing tech, subversion,... (options increase with tech level) Success should depend on mission
