You need to give us a few details...like what aspect of the game is troubling you. There is no "walk-thru." Different situations call for different strategies. Let us know HOW your getting whacked about and we can guide you. Are you having morale problems? Money problems? War problems? Just plain "cant figure out how to do XXX" problems? Gee Art, I can offer no advice because I'm a poor player...I still play on the lower levels (though I still have fun.) I'm just kind of wondering why so many players are successful (see Metaverse) while you have lost 20 something games in a row. Maybe YOUR copy of Gal Civ cheats and everybody elses dosent. As he said, he's NEW to the forum so he doesnt know about the stand alone proceedure. Cut him some slack. Now, I'm sure that after he's been here awhile and read the 10,000 posts he'll know everything there is to know. I personally dont know if the AI cheats or not. Since i dont know, I'll take the designer's word for it. However..IF IT DOES CHEAT...so freaking what? Name one computer strategy game, RTS or TB, that doesnt. And, you have won some games. So you dont like being cheated on (by a COMPUTER GAME for heavens sake)? T.S. If you want your Aunt to buy it and bring it to you, ask her to look at: 1. EB (Electronics Boutique) 2. Best Buy 3. Comp Usa I'm not from Boston but all three are national chains..theres got to be at least one of them in the Boston Metro area.! And make sure you have your aunt call the store in advance. No disrespect, but unless your aunt is a computer gamer, she will have no clue where to look or how to find it. Best to have it waiting for her when she gets to the store.
Usng 1.03 and no mods and never experienced any of the problems you describe. Have played for over three months straight (various official versions) and not once experienced ANYTHING that I knew to be a bug....meaning no gameplay issues or crashes or other general weirdness. Strange................

Mad, I'll try again. I use aol for all downloading (including the updates/bonus packs for GalCiv) and once downloaded, have had 100% success in unzipping/opening etc. Do you recommend opening the file directly or saving it yo the hard drive, THEN opening it? (2 choices I get when I click on your link.) Thanks!!
Sorry to say but the small 12 meg file is corrupt Downloaded the files to my AOL download folder, but when I tried to open it I got the corrupt file message.
Bobo never expect to play 4x space game without ships to back him big mouth. Bobo win without fighting all others sometime, but just like in jungle where Bobo's family come from, you no defend yourself, you get big stick against head or spear in butt. Bobo say not expect to be nicey nicey to everyone and get nicey in return unless have big stick. In jungle or in space, that way things work.
