I am almost certain that resubmitting does not change the date.
True dat yo. Check out my former Anomalous score from July 6th that I resubmitted a couple of days ago. The date didn't move, nor the 'block' for scoring purposes. You are going to have to rock out another game, Ray. ~SDC~
But, what if the sector has one of your stars AND one of the other faction's stars? If you then add the culture mods to a new starbase in a sector that you share, does the AI still demand the starbase or go to war? Or is that only when you have no planet in the sector and they do have a planet?
Not that this is definitive, but I have never had an AI squawk about a culture SB in a sector that we share. I think you can do this with impunity, but I'd be curious as to other'

I tried out the 'differing alignment' bonus with my latest game. Me = Good, Them = Bad. It's my understanding the opposite scenario's a little buggy right now. It's a fairly decent bonus, I think. 13,000 for a Small map at Painful? Not too shabby. I took Ray's advice (way back in this thread) to heart as well, selling Aphrodisiac and Regenerators immediately to keep the AI populations growing at a healthy pace. All in all, I'm pretty happy with the results. I want
Great names for your games, HFO. I'll probably be playing less often than you during classes and adopting a similiar system.
Thanks. :) Actually, the way the Metaverse groups games based on time works in our favor. There's a point of diminishing returns we don't see, compared to a player that submits 5 games a week. And beyond that, I try to play for fun, not score. Though I find myself tempted by the power of the One Ring on occasion. ;) ~SD

Too bad. I had no idea I still had a copy of that game, else I'd be out of luck as well. I don't normally keep copies of my save games. I have just a few slots that I use over and over: "At The Beginning" "Time For Bed" "Wife Wants Attention" But this game I had saved as "Time For Work", I'm not sure why. Had my Luckstone in my pocket, I guess. ~SDC~
Hey H5O,Just noticed your anomalous score is gone. How did you do it? We have a brother, Alex, who needs help on his.
I was cleaning out my saved games when I came across an early save for that map. I played it to the point where I could win an Alliance victory and then sent it off. I didn't want to go for the Military because I'd already wasted X amount of time on it in the first place, only to get an Anomalous reading. I'm not one to throw good time after bad

I haven't played at a level that seriously challenges me yet, so I've never had to diversify from my one winning strategy: Turtle - build - crush all that oppose me - flip the rest. I'm sure at the higher levels I'll need to get more creative. Diplomacy and tech trading is a large part of my game. I can't recall an AI player ever declaring war on me, they all love me so much. I have no qualms declaring war on the evil baddies, but I never do on the Altarians and Tori

Let me take a stab at it. The \GFX folder should be located off the Gal Civ installation directory. On my system the path is: C:\Program Files\Strategy First\Galactic Civilizations\GFX\ The actual mod files need to be placed into the \Data folder, on my system that path is: C:\Program Files\Strategy First\Galactic Civilizations\Data\ I am unsure what you mean by "the retail CD is not the same as the download version". Could you please elaborate? ~SD
If we're talking books, can I throw in a vote for Dan Simmons' Hyperion Cantos? Four book series, absolutely mind blowing in scope.
The Wombat has good taste. The Hyperion books are excellent. I also like Chalker's Well World series, though the last two stand alones have been rather weak. For Fantasy, has anyone mentioned George R. R. Martin's A Song Of Ice And Fire? Excellent books, the only drawback is the series is not done yet and it's taking him awhile to

Miles, are you tech-whoring? There is not a tech I research in the early game that I don't immediately turn around and sell (or trade for another tech that I can then sell!). Research the parts of the tree the AI is slow to research, then parlay those techs into money. More money for you, and just as importantly, less money for them. I normally play a builder game so I don't really care if the AIs get Corvette Tech off me, but YMMV. Tribute is easily 50% of my income in the

Fired off another game, a Tiny map this time. First time I played on Tiny. I decided to warmonger for a change too. The first few years were a whirlwind of absorbing the Carinoids, Yor, Arceans, Drengin, and the Alexians. Then I settled back to play SimGC for awhile, finally flipping the Torians and Altarians at my leisure. For what it's worth, Rally Points make playing SimGC even easier then before. I normally stick a rally point right where I want to build the SB, then te
But those that allow a player to force an event would be interesting for those who really wants to experience that particular one.
! I'd LOVE this to be added. Troubleshooting random events is currently nigh impossible. A mechanism to force an event to happen would be absolutely fantastic. ~SDC~

Congrats vincible! Forum ranks are bestowed behind the scenes by the Stardockians. Known reasons to get promoted are meritorious service to the community and helping to solve an annoying bug. You can also get demoted for boorish behavior. I'm still bucking for my Ambassadorship. :) ~SDC~

Some minor issues with the latest beta, 1.09A[b].002 1) There is a problem with the DK's description, it says "... Slower than battle ships...", which is not true. 2) The tech "Disruptors" Overview text, "...will enable us to build more lethal ships.", is in error as the bonus is to Soldiering, not Weapons. 3) The problems with the following 4 techs remain: HighDensityMetals, BistrontAlloy, AdvancedSlavery, NanoMining. All 4 of these techs have the ability "Production"
