Frogboy, re: right game at the right time. I remember buying MOO3, and included was an insert for a funny little game called Galctic Civilizations. And, since MOO3 sucked big time, I got GC and the rest is history. pek

Erm, assuming you are on the right forum, there's a number of ways to increase CREDITS. 1. Make sure you have your planet/asteroid development maxed out, having a planet/asteroid without developing it results in a NEGATIVE credit flow. 2. More pop means more taxes. Make sure you research the pop increases. 3. Research and build trade centers on major planets. These have a BIG impact on credit income. Also, depending on race, research the trade improvements. 4. Explo
I have 1.5 mb (about 600Kb) cable broadband and it takes about 30 min for the 1g, it maxes out my pipe. Never had a problem with SD. pek
Some of them need to be at least level 3 (as I recall), except for the carriers, they get some right off the bat. And, as levels increase, you get more squadrons. pek
Just started to read this thread. I HAVE to throw my inane comments in: The changes (in this weeks patch) aren't a knee jerk reaction by SD/IC, we were talking/bitching/fighting about most of them in Dec/Jan. While it WAS a small number of people, we probably made up for it in sheer number of hours played. (Eets probably wished you were there the most btw, he was usually the person in the barrel). There were a bunch of things that had to be tweaked, and the changes had to be priorit
When you first see the logos, left click. This will skip them. pek
kind of like the 2000 elections too, haha
Ooops, that's what I meant. pek
The black market lets you buy/sell crystal and metal. If you need more of something to get an upgrade NOW, you can buy what you need, at a cost. Use the black market in the begining because you will normally have more credits than resources, and research costs resources. The pirate screen is just that. A BIG gotcha is that you have to constantly monitor the pirates if you get into a bidding war. It's a lot like e-bay, you can get outbid at the last second before they launch, which i
You know you like it, koscy. Plus, you do the same!
You should see what happens when Kosc and Eeets start tickling each other. It's like bad hentai, or maybe good hentai, I dunno. pek
Yeah, you have to remember that fleets (and fleet manager) apply only to ships that you have made into a fllet. If you have a cap and set that ship as the rally point for a factory, all the ships you build will join the fleet. But, if you want the convenience of a single key choice, you have to highlight ALL the ships and do ctl+#, then they will jump in a group, but they won't show up in the empire tree. We've arg<<< discussed this quite a bit. We voted and the devs won. Kind of like to 20
You can use the ctl+# to make control groups, which are different than fleets and won't show up in the empire tree, yet. (There's a large group of us that won't take no for an answer from the devs about incliding the ctl+# groups in the empire tree like B3(?) had). But the ctl+# groups are good for one key choosing, and you can include the group to jump together. Other than that, SINS is easy to learn, hard to master, since there are many different ways to build, gather resources, c
So far, no random events. Not to mean that there won't be in one of the future upgrades/expansions, but in the release, not to my knowledge, and I've been playing the release (but not the patched release). pek
Well, I pre-ordered and I've been playing it since May 2007. pek
FWIW, I upgraded ok, didn't need to grab the whole thing, Frogboy. SDC getting to be pretty good. It's going to be hard to top it. pek
It IS possible if you have multiple AI's and team them up with each other. I've tested things that way, I could check how things progress while the AI's beat on each other. Use the large maps, lock teams and divide the AI's up as you want. Make sure you are on one of the stronger teams, so you can have them protect you. You can also use your credits to sic the pirates on whoever you want. pek
Me too!!!! :CONGRAT: pek
Last I heard from sales, the beta's can get the colectors edition for the cost of shipping. Don't know what the cut-off will be, that's what I was told when I asked about the collectors edition for those of us who ordered before they announced the goodies. YMMV. pek
Like a cockroach, huh?? pek
Did a cursory search and didn't find an answer, so at the risk of hell raining down on me, I'll ask the question. Was getting used to the Vasari in a game and had the non-phase lane travel feature rear it's ugly head. The pirates were the first to travel outside and the AI started to chase them until they were half-way to another planet. Didn't sink in for a while, kept seeing pirate ships in a planet list (right-side triangle) but when I zoomed in I didn't see any (thought I found
Here's another random comment besides my bitch about the order of the savegames. I see at least on of the devs is a David Weber fan (re: star/planet names). Just noticed that, been re-reading his stuff so it rang a bell. pek
(we'll talk about the new diplomacy system in beta 5). What ?! Beta 5?! Putting bounties on players is usually a waste of money. Pirates are so weak that a few defenses and one or two repair stations are able to hold them up easily. Er, no. Maybe a fully prepared defense point can take them down -- but making those fully prepared defense points is, in and of itself, a m
This may sound silly, but the load game sequence (oldest save first) is a step back from the other betas, and other games (most curent save first). When you go to load a save, you want the latest, not the oldest as first choice. pek
I had the DX control panel set to use the debug version of DX9 (troubleshooting a SINS beta problem). When I fired up GC2 TA, the minimap in lower right corner was all white. Actually, I fired up TA and found the minimap white. I thought about it a minute and remembered I had the debug DX set. I set it back to the retail version and got the minmap back. Just a FYI to the devs. pek
But wait!!!! GC2's newest expansion, Twilight of the Arnor, is out now. I've got something to do while whiling away the time for B4. And I won't be grabing anyones rosy red cheeks (from sitting playing too much sins). pek
Not to be a smart ass (well maybe a little), I'm one of the baby boomers (and a grandparent to boot!) and I design/support voice and data networks for a living. Generalizations like that can get you into trouble. One can only marvel at the gross generalizations the younger generation makes. pek
