You know, I never build transports to bring down morale. I keep meaning to, but.... seems like an evil option to me! ;) ~SDC~
Starvald
I've never even wanted to ally with them.... Sometimes they don't like your alignment, you playing evil? Create some trade routes with them, this is a good idea in general, their home systems are NICE quite a lot of the time. I think just keeping relations open is generally helpful too, like continued offering of tech (even if you're charging for it) and so on. I also never refuse a request for ships from one..... ~SDC~
Whoops, when I said "It's not cheating", I was refering to the AI players. Note to self "Be clearer" ;) ~SDC~
Yeah, you get a much larger pop increase if you keep morale at 100% Quite a bit bigger than if it was just at 99%, well at least to me it seems that way. Normally early game I run at 90/0/10 split spending, 100% spending. Tax rate kep to give 100% morale. Churn out those colony ships, put 200 mil (ish) people on each one. Or more, as with morale at 100% pop flies up faster than that, but I never let earths pop go below 1 bil... I continue with that till the treasury is just about to go
Just a thought. How can you have a next turn wins save for a culture victory? Takes 12 mnts doesn't it? Cause the game forgets total influence, well at least it used to. Well, I've just won by tech victory and got a score of 403 Metaverse points. Just about to try and figure out how to upload it.... ~SDC~
Yeah the other planets being a high (ish) class sometimes happen. I didn't notice mars being class 18 till later on. Doh! I had to stop playing last night at 2:00 am as I've got work..... I'll finish it off tonight, shouldn't take long, just got to decide how I'm gonna win it!
I'm going to have a go later. Downloaded the game just after lunch, will play it tonight, then I'll register with apolyton and upload tomorrow..... This is such a good idea, as I'm really looking forward to seeing how other people play! Bad luck dikdirk..... There's always next month!
Perhaps you could win by another method? Sounds like you are trying to win via military only. There are 3 other ways to win, beside that way. Try building a couple of terror stars filled with culture improvements and take planets that way (watch their star systems defect one by one)! Either that or use them to extend your influence to 90% of the map to win. Or just use them to blow up their star systems. Another way to win is to get alliances with all the major races (the rema
Whoops, sorry hadn't realised this went to two pages, and answered for the last post on the first.... sorry! ;)
I think the "ironman" feature means no saving allowed. But I think it would be essential to any endeavor of this sort!
I'll be having a look later! Would have now, but I'm at work but the firewall/proxy server has reported that the website is prohibited.....whoops! ;) I'll want to see the rules before joining up though! But I am interested...... this sort of thing interests me more than the metaverse does. :)
Guy, You can download and archive using SDC. Alternatively, you can fit the entire game onto a cd without zipping it, I think (you'll possibly have to get rid of your game saves). The With SDC there's 2 ways to go about archiving: 1) Highlight the game and right click on it, select download and archive 2) Highlight the game and select file-Archive-selected app Both these options place a zip file in the backup directory that SDC installed to. The first
That happened on my first game. Admittedly on cakewalk and tiny. And I thought it was way too easy too, as the drengins were as strong as me, with better military, but not interesed in me at all. Then...... that event happened. Woke me up, I'll tell you that! Suddenly I was in a war...... A short war (well it was cakewalk), but still I'd though the game was all wrapped up! Some people have been saying they dislike the events like that one and others. But I really like them, th
I've seen one trying to build one. That is until I noticed what it was doing, and stopped it! ~SDC~
It just doesn't work, installs fine, but then just doesn't work after that. It's been a while since I've tried though, so I might give it another go. Any special setup stuff? Where did you get the latest patch from? Seeing as Looking Glass are no longer operational. ~SDC~
Damn Damn and Damn again. Cataleptic, you beat me to it. ;) The trade centre is REALLY nice. Also good players get more trade routes later on. I used to be convinced that Evil civ had it way easier. That was just due to the fact that all the events really penalise goodie-two-shoes people! But, as I've played more games, I've realised that's not the case. It's just the bonuses for playing good aren't as tangible or as noticable early on. It's fairly well balanced, I'd say.
I agree, or a maxed cap on population. After all living space is severly limited. I just like the idea of giving them a little more personality, something to think a little more about.... But biggest on my wish list for starbases is....... drumroll....... Sorting out the stupid micromanagement necessary to keep them up to date! OK that wasn't a big surprise! ;) ~SDC~
"This is Xerxes, why do you persist in your loneliness" Ahhh System Shock 2..... nice game. Shame I can't get it to work on XP Pro. (:( I love shodan! I'm gonna have to set up a theme for xp for object desktop, got my old win98 about, along with ripped audio from the avi intro to SS2 and other game files. "Look at you hacker, a pathetic creature of meat and bone......." Brilliant. ALzandrion, what's this another good idea? But I'm not sure that I'd play that one, depe
This is a good, nay great idea! And this coming from someone who doesn't want to get invlved in all the metaverse stuff. But I would be interested in, at some point in the month, playing a set game like that! Perhaps they could put in some anti cheating options, like some method to stop people doing endless save/reloads. I wonder how that could be done? Ellestar's original idea was a save of the first turn, probably distributed amonst the participants. This is a neat i
I must admit that I've stayed away from this thread as the title didn't sound like a good idea...... but on finally reading what you actually wrote I've got to say...... that's a cool idea. It'd give starbases some "personality" as a community. See, I'm honest! ;) ~SDC~
Have a look under the thread "getting Galciv Betas" It's a "stickie" ~SDC~
Oh yesssss....... Well, I'm now glad I upgraded my account to drengin.net! MOM (OK, I know it's not a MOM sequel, but if it's turn based.....)has got to be my most played game ever! I take it that the screenshot is for what you call elemental? Any more info,as this is news to me!? :d
A drengin.net subscription is a step above just having Galciv. It entitles you to, not only Galciv, all the other games Stardock have or are making for a year and a half. This includes access to the betas. With only Galciv purchased, you only have access to Galciv. So you won't see anthing about betas on there. HTH ~SDC~
Lokiju's comment.... about #40 "This is a great game, and I will be buying the expansion." If you now have the account info and it's in your name, then you should be entitled to updates for a year from when the game was first bought. So you will probably get the expansion when it comes out already included. Just download it, when it comes out. Or at least, that's the way it is for the rest of us. Now you have the account, it might (and should) allow you access to that too. You d/led SDC
Have you rebooted your PC and then started up again? Try the previous autosave (I set mine to save every 2 turns, default is 12 or such), and see if you can continue past the point. ~SDC~
