Ashes isn't a game about large armies. It's a game about squads of units in large formations shooting eachother for the sake of a pretty lightshow.
If that is what you think, you make it sound like you don't like the game, and adding zoom to the game is not going to change those battles between "squads" as you put it, it just means you can jump between them in a different way or perhaps see more o
Supposedly Frogboy says it is easy to punish your opponent's early 2-point rush if you build a factory first and rush your T1s to the enemy. I'm skeptical so I'd like to see that in action.
Possible if defenders are off, very hard if not I would think.
Ever since someone woke this thread up saying the game needs a warning that is doesn't support SupCom zoom levels it has just been very silly, putting it politely. To be honest that suggestion was so silly it shouldn't have warranted a comment from the Dev in the first place. It has been a long time since the Devs have put their foot down about the zoom level so this is a useless rehashing of old ground. And then to tell the Dev who is designing and funding
Won't everyone soon learn you can do this (if you want) and it will no longer mean someone is playing at a disadvantage? It start the game going a lot quicker which isn't a bad thing. You could have the Creep spawn in sometime between 30-60 seconds, random each game, so that it would make it more of a gamble.
There is something like that in-game already, Ctrl and select a unit, or perhaps select a unit then hit Ctrl, one of them should work.
Ha, sounds cool for sure, but that is not just Ashes in VR, what you describe is way beyond that. I can see games along those lines being created at some point; it would cost a fortune to be as flexible as you mention above though.
I think it is moddable. So you could set up the type of order within the Army that you prefer. However that would be one order, at the moment I don't think you could have 5 different army configurations to choose from within game. Though that would be nice.
+1
Yeah I realise that. The 2nd part was just a tangent as you expanded fast and it reminded me of my few games with defenders off
If you can do that then great, there is no such things as a "not supposed to happen", its up to the player to decide how they spend that first minute or so. No one seems to play with defenders off any more but I did have a few games with them off many patches back and it makes for a very different game. Much faster, and you can harass earlier etc. It's a fun way to change things up. Slightly off topic, but you reminded me with the fast expansion.
Balancing is still going on fairly heavily right now and is likely to change a reasonable amount within the first couple of months after release I would think. Good luck with everything though, sounds good.
Reading again what I wrote I realise that it sounds dismissive of your feedback and I apologise for that. My intention was rather to let the devs know that the problems you describe are not a 100% reproducible...
It's OK man and your point is very valid. I just did the 4th mission. I won it first time but...not sure I really did. - At the beginning I capped the metal and built a factory
The third mission worked flawlessly for me, and I actually did like the humour of the 'well, that was embarrassing'.
Well I am glad it worked well for you but it needs to work well all the time hence my feedback. I guessed it was trying to be humorous but apart from the reasons I gave above it also made the guy look dumb. He sent a tiny squad against a huge thing and expected to win? These post-humans are meant t
Just played the 3rd mission, Deneb and it was a bit of a disaster I would say, small and large feedback: - The main problem is that the enemy force just sat there in the top left corner the whole game. I get the impression they are meant to be moving from node to node towards you, and you can hit them as they go past from the elevated positions recommended to you. Instead I had to do a LOT of node capturing moving along the line towards them (shouldn't have bothered
If you get a top of the range card it probably wouldn't matter either way but generally under DX12 AMD seems better. I run on Extreme settings with nice smooth gameplay with a GTX 970 @1920x1200 An Nvidia 970 or AMD 390 will both play this game very nicely.
That is a nice system. As a general rule for this game don't overclock anything in it. Have you tried under DX11?
I've suggested this idea on the Steam forums a while back, it seems a nice neat solution. Great minds think a like and all that :)
What kind of system are you using? It may be that the bigger maps and greater number of players is too much for your PC. I am not saying it should crash, just a consideration.
Cool! Will definitely check this out and give feedback. Do you want the feedback in this thread? Hmm, though playing it will kinda kill enjoying it polished for the first time...oh, too late, downloading now :)
Does look pretty sweet. It'll be interesting to see how much more feasible Polaris & Pascal make 4K gaming for single card users. 5K is a massive jump from 4K so that is some way off. Especially if you want to run at 120Hz and then especially more if you want to run a HDR monitor at 120Hz. Not even displayport 1.4 support comes close to that and that itself won't be in our hands for another couple years.
I have noticed more of these too. Sometimes half an army will just refuse to move while the other goes forward. This control issue stuff really has got to be nailed down.
Some people do crash more than others. If he is not already I suggest he definitely use DX11 as DX12 is much more sensitive to other things running on the system. Here is a bit from Frogboy's most recent post: Ashes of the Singularity is crashing on me! How can it almost be done? I have some good news and some bad news on that front. The good news is that every time the game crashes, we get a really cool crash log sent to us. For you devs
I downloaded the two maps in there and stuck them in the Maps folder of Ashes. Their names appear in the map list in-game but they provide no mini-map image and it doesn't let you add AI or play them. I think you did those two a while back, is it possible compiling them under an older version of Ashes makes them incompatible? Or am I missing something simple?

Jesus, can this card even do dx12
It can, go educate yourself.
