Thanks for the warning chaps.
How did you find out all of this information about the networking of this?
Was that asking me? Well I have seen that message pop up a number of times. And then later I saw someone complain about it to a Dev saying their PC was fine or something and the Dev replied that far more often than not it is someone's internet speed which is the problem and not the PC. The person in question is based in Australia and he was pl
Next question. Can networked multiplayer games be slowed down by a player joining with a slower gaming PC?
You do get a, "ABC is slowing down the game" warning if someone is slowing down the game but I think that is normally for network reasons, rather than their PC not keeping up. Though I think it is meant to cover both.
But he's also making a bigger issue of it then it really needs to be. By making a thread about it, lol mabey online games arent for him then.
Actually I would prefer it if the attitude was more like, maybe online games aren't for you then. Being such a poor loser...yes it is common, doesn't mean we should have to get used to it, it should be the other way round.
It sounds like it might be beneficial in MP to allow the person with the best computer/connection to act as the server regardless of who actually created the new game lobby. So A creates new game and B and C join to do a 3v3 vs AI. But A's setup is not actually that great and may compromise the game's performance. Player C on the other hand has a great connection and computer. In this case it would be nice if player C's system acted as the actual game host/server.
My brother got stuck on accidentally tracking a unit. Created a control group to get out of it. Bit of a pain. Not as bad as his CTD he suffered later.
Brother has the same problem, also a 7970.
I've seen it though not recently, it's been around a long time and is kinda funny, I think someone put a screenshot of it up on the Steam screenshots section. A Dreadnought of mine yesterday was trying to turn but kept hitting against the enemy Nexus, so it would kinda vibrate like it was really light. Made the Dreadnought look a bit like a toy so not quite so visually appealing.
yeah me neither. also 9 times/10 the middle mouse button pan is locked to rotate only and cant lower or highten the view angle this is a very resilient bug since the beginning.
I commit to a strategy, my engineers show confirmation (blue path), and then stop in the middle of nowhere for no reason.
That would be frustrating. Does it happen in SP or just MP? If just the latter perhaps it is lag. I noticed in a 3v3 the other night a fair few commands weren't getting through on first click. Triple clicking for every command not my favourite method of play :)
I like the idea of modders being able to do stuff now. When XCOM 2 came out didn't a bunch of player made mods for it come out at the same time? This game won't have Steam mod integration off the bat so that was unlikely I suppose but perhaps the Devs can put together a somewhat technical guide/blueprint to modding for those who can and desire to mod.
I agree with nearly all your points, though not a 100% sure on Sentinel being too powerful or the AA, just not observed it enough. PHC AA was made a lot cheaper in Beta 2, which was good, cost way too much before. Perhaps there could be a hotkey you could hit when a Dread levels up and it selects it for you by default so you don't have to pick it out of a crowd? Perhaps the buttons for the different Dread upgrades could be bigger too, or perhaps have them ap
I had a bunch of custom games last night vs. good players and the game really comes alive with interesting tactics in a way that just doesn't happen vs AI.
Yeah, game does come alive vs decent humans. One reason I am not playing ranked at the moment is because in Beta 1 all I got was brain dead AI. No fun. Even if you put in Normal AI at this point it is too easy, maybe the first time or two you try new thi
Looks a little better in the v.91 patch I think. Has a little tail so gives it a bit of directionality rather than just being a blob.
Worked well for me. In a quick vs AI match the performance seemed up, 50-60s dipping into high 40's in combat (on a 970, Extreme) as apposed to mid forties. But will have to check under same conditions on .9 as it was a small map. Quite a lot of screen tear though the same is true for 0.9 Injured Dread billowed smoke and fire, is that in the game already? Looked so epic. Shame I couldn't click on the Dread to see its health without disbanding the army. Turned out to be 76/1200
What i was talking is having a speed option when hosting non ranked multiplayer games. Could even add in starting resources and what not.
Yeah. Plenty of people just want to do a comp stomp so allowing them, or other types of custom games to adjust speed seems fine. Perhaps it has not been brought in yet because of a) implementing it in the start screen interface, but more importantly b) I assume it w
I don't know about ranked, initially anyway, but I liked the idea of being able to select it in custom games. Out of habit I just play it at Normal and am OK with that but if some friends like it faster that is OK too.
Nostalgia is very powerful, and for people who were there at the time it still makes the game playable. For example myself and some family members will still load up TA for a bash every once and a while, or Supcom, Doom, Quake etc. We can still enjoy them despite their age. But for many of them, I agree you could not introduce them to someone who has never played them, they would just see poor textures, basic FX, antiquated interface etc. etc. For a supposed rant I thought you were qu
A Dev on the Steam forums did say that they hope to allow the game to work fine with DX12 while SLI is still on. So you wouldn't have to keep disabling it each time. He also suggested it might even improve performance a bit. Though I wouldn't expect too much. 780M are not that powerful in the scheme of things but the two of them should do you well at 1366x768, or even at 1080p. Doesn't mean you can run them on Crazy though.
Quoting Frogboy, reply 1 However, bear in mind, that in ranked, it will not place a rank 3 player against say a rank 7 player no matter what. Lots of great suggestions in this thread. The above sentence seems waay too narrow. Anybody in the top 20 should be allowed to play each other at least.
Apologies, I think I misunderstood. I was thinking 3rd best vs 7th best. But each rank mu
I think you have said the 3rd faction will be based off a different tech line, i.e. not human. However after reading this I could see another 4th faction being the humans who don't want to become Post Human. It would have human and transhuman units. They know that some of the Post Humans wanted to convert Earth and them into Turinium or its like and though the threat was stopped by the AI they know it could still happen some time down the line so take pre-emptive action...
But what were your radioactive values at? Couldn't that be because you're producing units that also require radioactives, but since the radioactives is depleted and negative, it stalls the production so the production does not use all of that metal? I mean, that's what I thought it was, but maybe it is a bug?
That is what I thought too. Normally when I see metal do that it is because I have 0 radioactives
Default AI is beginner I think which is meant to be brain dead so it is not going to be upgrading itself. I agree there can be some problems with building placement. Some buildings let you overlap a bit, though it is not obvious. It lets you queue it up but the engineer will not build it. You can hit Alt to turn off the range circles, you'd be mad to have them all on as it is now, but yeah your idea is good to sort of combine them. Does it do this when they are in Army mod
