Dan Baker in the house! :) So...when are we getting the dx12 only, non-old-API-hamstrung Nitrous 2 engine for Ashes :p Also, talk to the Sniper 4 guys for 100% GPU scaling so we get the perfect all CPU and all GPU in use scenario :)
Both good suggestions. I haven't tried observer mode since the latest patch so it might be in there now but if not it would be nice to be able to to switch between the players and just see their field of view, so you only see what they can see.
Yeah, we're aware of the issue. It's being looked at by the team. [e digicons]:)[/e]
Thanks :)
Does the benchmark filter in the metaverse section work for anyone? You should be able to filter by GPU, CPU, API, version etc. but for quite some time now it has not worked for me, and I have tried different web browsers and computers so I think it is the website, but want to check. If a dev reads this and it is indeed an issue with the site, then please fix it. It is a useful tool when trying to help people with hardware concerns but without the filters it's pretty useless.
Quoting Ticktoc, reply 3 Hi, can you post a link to where you saw that? I must have missed it, thanks. I found it, however I confused the user with a developer, sorry. I hope they do not make it like the user suggests, and instead allow Navy to be more than glorified unit carriers.
Thanks. I am pretty sure we will be getting big ships, that is half the fun of the Navy surely :)
Additionally, in a recent post of a developer they said that naval units are going to be added. I was quite excited at first, until I read that there probably aren't going to be huge battleships. Why? Is bombarding the land with huge cannons not fun?
Hi, can you post a link to where you saw that? I must have missed it, thanks.
A good move that I think few companies would have done. Didn't realise you were going to stop selling Ashes but it makes sense with the existence of Escalation. Hope it pays off for you and looking forward to the future patches and DLC. Cheers!
Glad you like it. The matchmaker fix is a big one, we are happy to have that behind us. We are updating the opt-in today with Callum's map updates. The changelog has been updated to reflect that. We are testing Callum's balance changes, they are significant and they impact the AI so we are holding them until the next patch to make sure the AI is adjusted appropriately.
Makes s
Is the CPU fine as well?
For a laptop that is already a top of the mainstream range CPU. There are a few faster laptop CPUs but they offer little improvement for a major price hike. Some laptops can even take a desktop CPU but only on beefy laptops and I would guess things will run hotter and have zero battery life (if that is a consideration), but if you are worried about it you could look into it.
Easily, the laptop 1070 is not far off the desktop, so it's a beast. You'll want it on the Extreme setting, or you could drop the AA a bit and through the Nvidia control panel allow the games resolution to go up to 1440p for a nice crisp image. If your laptop comes with G-sync (not sure the listing above is because the laptop has it or it's just being advertised as supporting it) then even if it did drop below 60FPS you would be highly unlikely to notice it. In short, you won'
Supply Lines Game Option- Disable this when starting your game to remove the requirement that Regions have to be connected to your Nexus to provide resources.
Does the AI play know about/play appropriately differently with this option selected?
Good patch. " Single Player Observer Mode" I wasn't able to start a game with someone but in the MP lobby the host can also make himself an observer too, which if it works will be good for tournaments and people trying to help/coach people. Supply Lines Game Option Wasn't expecting to see this yet but great
Map changes seem fine and Turinium requirements did tend to be too high so trying lower VP is good. Don't really agree with the last paragraph, I've seen a few of the top 1v1 players say they are not so fond of the tiny maps either. And then almost dismissing a group of players because they play team games too? Really the paragraph reflects the gaming bias of the author. We all have our own bias of course so please don't see that as a dig, but I don't see it as being a
That is really cool to hear Utter, I hope you can the support you need from the Devs. For both SupCom games I have put the most hours into playing mods rather than the vanilla.
I've been kicked just after being matched up too. I'm pretty sure it is 99% everyone getting kicked and not quiting as I don't believe there is an easy way to quit after the match up screen appears, certainly no quit button at least.
Thanks for the reply. Wasn't a long game really. The AI always seems to build and expand faster than me but this is pretty early on so I doubt they have all of those upgrades and I'm usually around 4 attack and 3 defense upgrades by the time they do. I tired to build some upgraded sent turrets but the t1's and t2's always take them out easy as pie...
Well, if its been long enough for you to have that many
I said DLC maps not scenarios, Tag Utter's solution does work for scenarios though.
Ah true, my bad.
Were you in a long game vs AI? They will upgrade unit HP and damage a great deal, so if you haven't done that for your own forces then theirs can be a lot tougher (keep building quanta for upgrades throughout a game). Don't forget to put nano armour on your Dreadnoughts either. Barrage does very little damage to a Dread though, best anti-dread defence structure is the Sentinel turret and its upgrade. Carving Turret orbital also very useful.
Quoting bbc6rgf57ytty5yxyw5gt, reply 21 It's been possible to play the DLC maps the whole time. Go to Steam\steamapps\common\Ashes of the Singularity\Assets\Maps and copy and paste the maps from there to the Escalation maps folder. &nb
Sounds like a level specific bug. Perhaps drop in an official report to Support.
I would post on the Steam forums, some experienced map makers on there.
I have to hand it to the OP for keeping his cool. I know what I would choose if I had to choose which was worse, someone using an "OP" tactic in a game, or someone who verbally attacks someone in a seemingly slightly unhinged internet tirade.
I've not seen that particular error before. Someone once fixed an issue by re-installing directx on their system so that might be worth a shot for you too. Here is the general troubleshooting FAQ for Ashes, should be worth a look: https://esupport.stardock.com/index.php?/default_import/Knowledgebase/Article/View/530/175/general-ashes-of-the-singularity-troubleshooting
Wow, that is a lot of drones. That is highly likely to be the issue of your CPU maxing out and then the slow down of the game. The problem had been discovered and narrowed down to drones in Escalation as there is a defence turret that fires pods of drones so you can end up with a ton of them in long games. I did not think the base game would suffer from it but yeah, with so many there I'm pretty sure that will be the reason. The devs are aware of it and are apparently working on i
