Wow! Good job Duglis! Did you make screenshots? Would be a great 'gameplay example'.
dikdirk
Or let's say 'Snuis' has a really high score. The next game would have the Drengin Empire renamed to the 'Snuis Warlords'... Hmmm just thinking to much...must stop drinking coffee, and go to work.
I just got a great idea (tell me what you think of it). The winners from each month get a planet/ ship/ governor named after them in game that follows. Will that be a nice touch to get people to try to win?
"Well, dikdirk, i only thought it very unusual for Mars to be a class 18 planet. Does that have something to do with it? Or does it sometimes happen?" Lol.... well actually I was just trying some things ;p ! Let's say I upgraded Mars a little bit to give the players a small advantage. And Jupier a class 14 is also a little bit odd, I have to admit.
This is nice, but it is still the import version (which is more expensive).
Ps. Did anyone notice the planets on Sol from the savegame ;) ? I replaced Sol IV and Sol V LOL
I finished making my gameplay example and already uploaded it to a secret location. I can't wait to show it to you all :D And yes I did lose, but it is still fun to read.
Coffeedragon: that would be nice, but I also want the option to continue playing after I reach those victory conditions. I might wanna take those overlords for a test drive :D
I just lost my game :( :sniff!: :( It was a really fun game and it looked like i was winning, but I shouldn't have chosen the dark side. After the yor and the drengin were defeated, the rest allied itself against me. (:( I was really ahead on influence, tech, manufacturing, military but just couldn't take them all. I even tried giving away a few of my colonies for peace and an alliance with the arceans. But a few turns later someone accidently shot the Arcean leader, and guess what happ
To Ellestar: Well with coördination I hoped you would be our 'grand leader' ;) Someone who could be contacted (by mail) if there are problems, who would make sure that this project keeps growing and who would have a final saying in disputes etc. (and so we could put contact information on the website etc.) To Vorlin: Can't help you with that. I haven't got a clue :notsure:
Go Vorlin! Although I have seen a little bit of the map when I created it, I couldn't resist playing it for myself. I can only say that I am having lots of fun. This is the first time that I don't re-load a game when something bad happens and it really gets to me. I couldn't sleep last night because I kept thinking about that upcoming Torian-Altarian alliance :sniff!: I am making a 'gameplay example' for everyone else to see my (victory?!?-)path. ps. anyone intersted in writin
Looking good Sedennial!! But for now ellestar made us an upload location at: http://apolyton.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=85972 And a FAQ about uploading on Apolyton forum http://apolyton.net/forums/misc.php?action=faq&page=12 Just upload your zipped savegame (both .sav file and directory). ----- What to do next: - find out what system works best, and decide which one to use. - both ellestar and I are quite busy, so we n
We are now talking in different forums and it's getting confusing. Sedennial made a forum where we can upload our games and ellestar made it is also possible to upload at apolyton. Let's close this forum and continue in: http://www.galciv.com/forum.asp?BID=GF&ID=59314 So we can get our ideas and plans straight. ---- THIS THREAD IS CLOSED NOW ---- To stop any confusion it is best to continue our discussion here: http://www.galciv.com/f
(blush) Euhhh well...actually there isn't any e-mail address yet where people can post their games. I myself have very, very little time, so we are still looking for: People who are: - good at creating websites (for our website. I don't have time to keep it up to date). Would be nice to have a bulletin board and some more info on the rules etc. - good at modding (to create 'games of the month/ week' and to verify games from players) - fanatical galciv players (to invent the
Ok what do we need to do next: - think of a good scoring method - think of some medals etc. you can win. I would really also have some medals for: quickest loser, person being most sucked by random events etc. :D - think of a way we can upload games (for checks) - update our website and maybe have some sort of bulletin board for our website - have a crew of people for specific tasks Ellestar: since you started this idea. I would suggest you as being our 'coordin
Ichimaru: How to take a screenshot: - press prt scrn - open paint (or any other drawing program) - Press Ctrl-V (or 'paste'). - You can resize the picture (if you want). I used a 800*600 size for the larger picture and a 200*150 for the smaller pictures. - Save the picture as a .jpg of .gif ---- Playing the game: - Open the .zip file - Extract both the GOTM...blabla.sav file and the Directory to your Galactic Civilizations\Data\SaveGa
I made a small website in half an hour. It's not much, but could be a start. Visit it here: http://galciv.reallyrules.com It includes the 'first game of the month' :CONGRAT: I also made a new Topic here: http://www.galciv.com/forum.asp?BID=GF&ID=59314 Maybe we can continue our discussion there..... And the first website is just a start to get things going. If someone can do a better job: be my guest! [ellestar: thanks for your explan
Some users got the idea to start a 'game of the month' challenge in this topic: http://www.galciv.com/forum.asp?BID=GF&id=58845 If you want to join the fun, or want to know more about our little challenge just visit here: http://galciv.reallyrules.com/ Have fun everyone!
Maybe something like an ability to build - wealth (for social queues) - military hardware (for military queues) Producing these items would go to your cash reserves (or partially). This is to stop the waste if there is nothing you want to build anymore.
Yep I totally agree this should be changed! I already posted a message in the 'bugs/ suggestions' thread for the 1.01 version, but they didn't change it (:( Maybe someone can try again ;)
[noob alert ;)] What's an ironman feature? [/noob alert] And i must say, I am really 'pro-no-saving' :D
Hmmmm in my previous post ignore the: "It would also be fun if we could rate a game, not by Maybe we could " I am not sure what that did there :notsure: And why wait for the 1.04... we could run a open 'beta' ;) Got to go... cya later
#14 by Citizen Snuis - 5/13/2003 4:54:54 PM "Problem is: Galciv is much more luckdependant. I'd love to see saving/loading prohibited but it would require a great deal of trust."
Great minds think alike ;) I would easily trust people if we decide not to save/ reload our games. It would be a 'fun challenge', and if someone wants to cheat, let them do it.
#14 by Citizen Snuis - 5/13/2003 4:54:54 PM "and no more tha
I just thought of something. It might be fun if everyone would make screenshots once in a while and make up a small 'gameplay example', like Brad did. And what about this rule: - you are only allowed to save the game when you stop playing the game, and you should restart the game the next time from that save. So, in other words: what happens, just happens. No 10 times trying till you get it right. This is rather difficult to check, but it would be fun to see how people han
I just added this thread to my 'favorites'.... Oh goody a challenge!
