Wow...this is a fun idea! Anyone want to setup a game, and put it for download somewhere? Must we also decide if we all will be playing pure good or pure evil?

Good work! Didn't read it all yet, but it looks good. Also nice to put a gameplay example in it!
Euhmmm when i previously 'begged' (;p) for a 'break alliance' button. Actually I didn't mean a butten where you could break your own alliance, but more a trade 'thingy' where you could 'motivate' an AI player to break his alliance with an other AI player. This is because when an alliance between two AI players is being formed, there is nothing you can do about it anymore. It would be nice if you could somehow disrupt relations between the AI players. In the existing setup, this is only

Agree! Payment should stop when asker declares war, or race dies.
AI should not only attack the player when he is weak, but also when he thinks the player gets TOO STRONG, with the help of other AI players.
- Fix the 'military rating' so that it doesn't only account for the attack value of ships, but also the defense rating/ hitpoints
1.03: - up vote to give transports +20 attack still exists. I thought this was being changed to +20 DEFENCE
1.03: - still wrong picture on minor races tab
Oh yeah.. and while i'm bumping this: a 'local' highscore list would also be nice
Crichton: you got some real good points here. The main problem imho is the fact that 'no lifers' (sorry guys ;p ) can flood the metaverse, and the fact that there is no seperate scoring for the different galaxy sizes. So what about: - Player ranking for different galaxy sizes (where you would get higher points for higher difficulties etc.) - Empire ranking for different galaxy sizes. So teams can pick a certain galaxy to rule. - monthly statistics: * Best play
Thanks everyone for your answers! Is a 'diplomat' someone from within Stardock? If yes, I'll trust: "by Diplomat Solitair - 5/8/2003 3:30:54 AM" Tech costs scale with galaxy size! Go ahead and play largere galaxies. Things take longer to research to balance against the more planets you'll have. But I wouldn't mind seeing an even laaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrger tech tree ;)
Well...this actually is a nice idea.
Nope... i guess it is fairly useless
Bump.... anyone?? Is the research speed slower on larger maps?
"Or does the game slow down research on bigger maps? " Or, does the game "slow down research" on bigger maps? ;) for your reading convenience
In my previous game on a 'large' map, I managed a 'beyond human' win, without too much trouble. I finished the tech tree before I defeated everyone. Not really a problem ofcourse, but it made me think. What happens on larger maps??? On these maps, you generally need more time to conquer everyone. I can imagine having reached a 'beyond human' win before even seeing the entire galaxy..... Or does the game slow down research on bigger maps?
One more vote for the hall of fame! (and the rest ofcourse)
Yep. I noticed it in 1.03 and didn't see any changes planned for 1.04 http://www.galciv.com/forum.asp?BID=GF&id=57267
1. Not yet, but it will be there in an update. I am not sure when, but it will be *free* :) Check http://webpages.charter.net/trevorpowdrell/ For more info, or http://www.brimstonedragons.net/azakain/ For an updated manual including a nice tech tree 2. No. There is some discussion on the boards about this, but for now, it is not seen as a priority update. ---correct me if i'm wrong---
This was also surprising: "When you play Galactic Civilizations and see flat-looking ships, you'll know the irony that every single one of those ships is fully rendered in three dimensions. This was my decision and I wish I could take it back now."
Today I won my first game with all players on intelligent. The Arceans gave me a hell of a fight, but luckily I could keep them busy by sending both the Drengin and the Altarians after them. It was a close call, but once I rebuilt my military, none of the AI's dared to attack me (or gang up against me). Muhahahaha eat this you dirty Arceans! I'm now trying a higher dificulty level. Let's see who's your daddy now ;) Oh and btw: i wouldn't mind seeing the other races with the 'd
Option of going to war is not always available in diplomacy screen (also when there aro no alliances). http://www.galciv.com/forum.asp?BID=GF&id=49357&MaxReplies= My last game I couldn't get the Altarians to declare war againsta the Arceans TILL I developed a trade route with the Altarians (or actually, they made a traderoute with me). Is this a bug or feature? PS. Would you PLEASE insert a 'break alliance' option?
Maybe I can clarify. This is what happened to me: My last game I couldn't get the Altarians to declare war againsta the Arceans TILL I developed a trade route with the Altarians (or actually, they made a traderoute with me). Is this a bug or feature?
It would be nice to hear someone from Stardock say anything about a release date for europe. Last rumor I heard, was that they were still looking for a publisher.
