Almost every time i play a game i get a message, somewhat similar to: "The [put race here] have discovered an ancient artifact and will grow extremely powerful over time. We must act now or be eventually destroyed." - What exactly does this event do? Is there a resource on the map they captured, or is it more of an event which gives them increased hitpoints/ infulence every turn? - What can be done about it? Is there anything that can be done about it instead of simply

WOW!! RESPECT!! This is EXACTLY what i felt after buying mo....euhh Ford Hovercraft III. You are SO right!
In response to my own message: #630 by Citizen dikdirk - 4/13/2003 3:23:31 PM The AI should consider giving money for a long duration when asking for peace, but it should STOP paying after you declare war or do anything else that goes against the agreement you made. In this way the player will be forced to think twice before breaking an agreement. And it stops the way a player gets an unfair advantage.
Even if they put it in a galactic bank, it is kinda stupid. If you manage to erase an empire you can really 'milk' them. This gives the player an unfair advantage imho. The AI should consider giving money for a long duration, but it should STOP paying after you declare war or do anything else that goes against the agreement you made. In this way the player will be forced to think twice before breaking an agreement.
Brad: thanks for listening! I agree that this is a cheesy tactic, but it is the surface of a deeper problem. An AI that is too 'trusting'. It shouldn't be too dificult to fix this a little. If the AI would also consider how the player treats other AI empires that would also have some great effects. This prevents players from using the same tactics against multiple AI players. For example: if i make peace to the torians and receive lots of money but attack again the next turn, the dreng
Hehe... i see you also posted here (and in the 'bugs' forum ;) ) I had something similar (sorry for the duplicate) In response to: #626 by Citizen Baerd - 4/13/2003 11:33:16 AM Tribute from the dead. This is exactly what happened to me, and even stranger: If you conquer the last planet from an AI race and go to diplomacy screen, you can MAKE PEACE with them in exchange for huge tribute. This is strange: what is peace to them if they haven't got any planets left, and they will be extinct the next turn. This is bad; especially since this tribute can continue for many, many more months.<

This is not a bump..... i repeat: this is NOT a bump LOL Kinda like the idea though!!
I also think (but am merely speculating here) that asking tribute from other players or going to war after signing peace treaties also makes you 'evil''. But i'm not so sure about that.
Has been mentioned somewhere before: - Two AI allies will in turns try to make peace to you, but will make war the next turn because their ally is still in war with you. This should be easy to fix. - And what about: if you bribe someone to start a war, this should be at least a minimum number of turns.
Did anyone notice that you can switch military items from your building queue without losing previous production, while this does not work for your social queues. I mean: if you are building a battleship and after 15 turns, you change that to a colonizer...your colonizer is almost half done already. On the other hand: if you are building eyes of the universe, and change it to manufacturing capital after a few turns, you have to start production all over. Is this a bug, or is th
Has this already been mentioned: - Make a new 'sticky post' in which nobody can post except for some moderators (or even 'respected users' such as javascout). That post should be constantly updated to have a list of all (or the most important) suggestions in keywords. And maybe the suggestions on which work is done in a different color. This would make it easier for regular users to do a suggestion, without having to do extensive reading to see if a suggestion has already be made. <
Someone is getting enthousiastic ;)
Thanks Norin! It would be a nice idea to put a 'break alliance' option in the game!
Does anyone know this: Is there any way you can try to persuade a race to break an alliance with an other race? I can't seem to find it. And.... If i try to convince an AI player to make war to another AI player; sometimes that race isn't mentioned in the list.
** BUMP ** I agree! Nice idea and simple to implement!
*BuMp* Yep...it still happens in 1.02!! And a question: If i build diplomatic translators first.... can other civs build them too but have to pay me for them? What happens if i trade it... do i lose my 'patenting' on it?
[offtopic] Brad: Two Thumbs Up!! I have actually bought the game for two reasons: 1. It's a GREAT game 2. I love the way you listen to us 'gamers', and try to make it a great gaming experience for us all. So, please stay! Just had to say this [/offtopic]
Thanks Biggy Boy.... * and dikdirk happily continues playing ;) *
Bug? 1: I played galciv (retail version) for a few days, and really love the game. There is only one thing that annoys me a little (but it might be just me doing something wrong ;p ). When I press turn, it sometimes happens that i HEAR explosions etc. but haven't got a clue where that explosion was. I am not sure if this is a bug, but if it is: would it be a nice idea to move your screen to the location where the fight is happening? Bug? 2: After installing the bonuspa
