Are critters or critter meat needed for anything important in the game or can they just be ignored?

Thanks for the info YogiDonnie -- Blue
Thanks Frogboy : )
Can you play Star Control Origins with a joystick or only keys and mouse?
How Do I post a question in this forum!!!!
Thnks for the info guys --- although at first it seems there should be at least a few more slots, I would imagine the devs thinking was that it would add to the strategy of the game as you have to really think of what you want to build before you make a decision.
I've only a few structures near my homeworld and I only have 2 military labs and 2 research stations and it wont allow me to build a brodcast center as it says "No logistic slots available" -- Ive upgraded the planet to its max - Is this normal or am I missing something -- are there only 4 or 5 logistic slots available in total even on your home planet???
ahhhhh -- thanks guys
If you purchase influence, does your purchased influence apply in sectors that have planets of the AI civ you purchased them from, or does it affect your overall influence? How does it work exactly?
Gibbie99 -- very interesting -- that would answer the question and show the AI is not cheating --- I don't know if thats what's happening but -- good thinking Gibbie99 :)

Hey!! How do u copy a bit of someones thread and put it in that white box?? I tried it on my last submission {part of Qui-Gon Jinn's message} and all it did was print it into my message -- Where's the white box?!!!
It dosn't appear until the next turn. Look my analysis closely. The A.I. decides to build the ship on Turn 1, and it doesn't appear until the beginning of Turn 2. It only seems like the same turn to you because it all happens after you hit the turn button. Qui-Gon Jinn -- I'm going to give the GalCiv AI the benefit of the doubt I guess - I really want to continue loving this game because there are so few excellent TBS games out there. PS -- Did anyone here play Ascendency?? I loved th
Qui-Gon Jinn --- the problem with your scenario is that when you said "A.I. decides to build/buy another starfighter on newly aquired starsystem" that starfighter shouldn't appear until the beginning of the next turn! I know that if I have no starships orbiting the system and I buy one -- It can still be invaded on the next turn because the ship won't be built until the enemy has done its turn. But these starships appeared without even one turn commencing. As SOON as the Drengin invaded and t
I missed a word in my previous message that made it sound confusing -- here's the correct text. After the Drengin succesfully invaded one of my star systems, they immdiately had two star fighters orbiting the star system. Mind you, this was not at the begining of the following turn, but it was on the same turn that they invaded, before my ships had even moved for that turn. They did have one star fighter nearby that could have "po
actually I mean something that would say eg; Turn 34 Turn 35 etc. I don't really want to have to count the months to see what turn I'm on. :notsure:
Is there a counter somewhere in the game that shows you what turn you're on?
Thanks all -- for the info - and yes Ray -- This is and outstanding game forum -- answers come fassssssssst -- :)
So far in the games I've played, it always seems that if I get an icon that shows my citizens to be unhappy, no matter what I build, or money I spend in propoganda, the Icon never goes away. Even if I don't lose the system throughout the game the icon stays. Has anyone played games where the icon actually goes away after awhile?
Yikes!! -- Ray you just straightened this whole thing out for me -- I made a basic error and I feel like a fool. I was disregarding the attackers defense when my defenders were attacking!! DOH!!! Now it's so easy to see why defenders {or any ship with much less firepower} has a huge disadvanage. Not only does it have little chance of stopping damage, but when it comes to it's turn to fire, it requires a very low roll by the attacker for it to do much damage at all!!
Ahh - thanks again Ray -- I have in fact been trading with minor civs lately and been happy with the results. One more thing -- Is there any substantial advantage or disadvantage to having occasional habitable planets as opposed to common? How about clustered star systems as opposed to scattered??
Thanks for the info everyone -- especially Ray for the Battle sim link -- but I don't understand why it was done this way :( If your roll is supposed to be between 0 and your max and your max is 3 -- after 5 rolls why are you always rolling close to a zero so much and why not some 3's!! -- This isn't the impression I got from the manual -- look at the info Sigma pulled on defenders attacks against the attacker; Attacker defence roll 0: 0, 1, 2, or 3 damage Attacker defence roll 1: 0, 0,
