I believe the battling in this game at the harder levels simply does not work the way the battling is supposed to work as stated in the manual. {or should I say stardock lies in the manual about how the battling works} Time and time again there will be one attacking ship that will take out multiple ships orbiting my planets when reason would dictate it would be almost impossible all things considered. Example -- an attacking ship with a max hitpoints of 31 and an attack/defense of 8/6 attacks m

Cirrhosis!!! YES!!! The zone does still support it and I play all the time -- if you want to get back into it, join us. I'm on at night, usually starting between 10PM and 12 Midnight Pacific time. I'm in the Wrath clan -- I'm Wrath_BlueWolf. Stop by and say heyyyyy if ya want. As far the zone -- the place is probably more popular than ever. I just checked it now and there were over 87,000 players there. The TA "Bang for the Buck" you mentioned is totally true, especially since it's free t
Ahhhhh -- ok -- Didn't know it had been discussed so much so I'll just accept it as is --- Main thing is, this is one great game! And although Total Annihilation is my all time favorite game and a ton of fun online, this has got to be the most sophisticated AI game I've ever had-- congrads to Stardock!
I haven't sent any games to the metaverse yet but I was looking at it and noticed some extremely high ranked players who'd won a lot of games with difficulty settings that were almost all simple or beginner. As I've won on three of the four lower levels of difficulty {didnt play the easiest} and am experiencing a much tougher time at the harder levels it doesn't seem fair to me to have a point system that allows players who've never won on any of the higher levels of difficulty to be ranked exr
No Fulgrymm I didn't conquer them from another race. I just researched the Tech - I think it was intersteller capitalism -- and then I looked for Stock Market to build in the Social area and it wasn't there. So I looked under archives and -- Yikes -- It was there. Oh well -- dunno if anyone else has had something like this -- generally the game seems to run trouble and bug free.
Woops forgot to mention the version I'm playing -- It's 1.05
Can someone tell me how it works when a ship survives battles and gains experience points and levels. I need something to relate it too ie. If a ship gets to a "Master" level, what is that worth in terms of battling -- does it give it the equivelant of more hit points, or stronger hulls, or what exactly does it do??? Any help would be appreciated.
When I researched the tech that gave me the option of the Stock Market as a social project -- on about three or four of my planets, Stock Market was immediately built and I had to cancel it in the archives so I could get stock market on those planets legitimately.
Wolfkin -- Anytime you're given the option of following more than one path eg. --> deciding wether you want to build techs to increase your attack/defense roll or --> deciding not to build those techs and just relying on the luck of the roll -- {which means of course you'll be using those turns to research diffent techs} is a strategic decision :)
Although I still like this game I believe there's just too much luck involved in battle. A great improvement I believe would be a series of techs you could research, the first would raise your lowest attack/defense roll 10% above zero. Maybe five techs in all, so when you've researched the last, your attack/defense rolls would be at least 50% of the ships capability. I realise it's all relative and that the AI could do the same thing, but maybe the AI wouldn't see it as quite a high priority
I have an overall approval rating of 46% But the morale on my individual planets are 100 - 63 - 53 - 53 - 53 -53 - 51 53 - 51 -- How can it be that your overall approval is below the combined average of your planets???
A ship can be set to "Guard" or "Auto attack" etc. but there's no info in the manual about what these mean and exactly how they work -- is there someplace on this website that I can get this info - or if not - can someone enlighten me???
I had a starbase that was loaded with as much Military and Defense modules as possible, and its hit points were 130. Then 1 Ship with hit points of 93 attacks it and the starbase is destroyed. How is that possible???
When I set my abilites before launching the game I used two of my points for loyalty. But when I looked at Domestic Policy/Stats, all my abilities are the except loyalty. It's set at the highest level 20% but no indication of it in the Stats menu. Do I still have it?? Why doesn't it show? ~SDC~

I just upgraded to the 1.5 ver and the locks that were underneath the Domestic policy/Income distribution levers {Military - Social - Research} are now gone. DOH!!!!! Now it's more time consuming to add a percentage to one of the aforementioned areas -- eg. if you want to add a percentage to research, when you do, it may take it from the military when you really wanted it to come from social. Can we get the locks back?!
Thanks much CariElf for your help!
Does anyone know if there's a way to play the music loops in GalCiv in sequence rather than hearing the same loop over and over and overrrrrrrr again until, finally you get to a new loop??? :notsure:
ahhhhh -- thanks Ralegh -- it's the Drengin emp. and they are in fact at war with the Altarian rep. and the Torian con.
Is there a reasonable explanation why civilizations will start war with you and then ask to cease the war a bit later when nothing that I can detect has given them reason to do so -- whattup with that???
Yikes-- LOL-- thanks for the info Mojo.
How bout this for a wierd bug -- after I play for awhile and get one of those questions that requires me to make one of three decisions that will show if I'm a good guy or a tryrant {or somewhere in between} sometimes when I come back to the main screen, the icons at the bottom and the find/next turn buttons are all white, and the icons have changed eg. the research icon is now a large test tube. Also the music which up to that point in the game has only played the first theme over and over aga
